iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istock Custom iam so excited
« on: June 29, 2018, 17:30 »
Got an email about producing some custom content because I'd submitted some great similar work to what they want. Sounds "great" however they want images taken on a site 8000km away, um not going to happen.

What happens to images you submit and don't get selected ?

Why the h. ell should i produce exklusive images for standard royality if i can do the same for non eclusive and the same royality?

So outside of a different method of handling payment transactions, how is this different than any other agency?

The administration costs.

Agency = I have to write one monthly bill for the agency payment and no VAT payments.

Marketplace = Many bills for every single sale and if a EU buyer the VAT payment in the buyers country.

i love to hear about 15%. Iam ready to start on Wemark and kick ass the 75% greedy Agencies  :-*

@Wemark
But how should i handle the EU-VAT if there is no middleman?

There’s a middleman.  Wemark.  Beacause they host it and take a cut.  That equals middleman.

Not necessarily for the EU-Vat.
If the contract is direct between the seller and buyer i as the seller have to pay EU-vat for every EU-buyer in the buyers country.

If i sell via an agencie the angencie has to pay EU-Vat.

The differnce is that an agencie pay me. If i use a Marketplace i pay the Marketplace for there service.

Maybe you payment will not be traceable as it is crypto currency. Then if you make no sales no worry about taxes.

;D I can not upload to Wemark before i have a TAX/VAT solution. Tracable or not my business is always legal...

I wondering how all the blockchain sites will handle the EU-VAT. If there is no middleman i have to write an invoice and have to pay VAT for every single sale in the EU buyers country.

The administration cost will explode...
I've asked that question in the Wemark telegram group.  They're looking into it.  Will let you know what they say.
thx

And the same again if we not united the agencies will kill one day our income completly.

39
Maybe we should have an anonymous poll and grant to the qualified agencies the right to use a "fair trade" label.

Exactly my thought after reading this topic. Would be even nicer if this could be done "officially" like setting some terms under which an agency can have this label and they could add this to their website.
I wonder if it is possible.

its posible. But we are to stupid to unite...

They don't seem particularly bothered at support by the reply i received.
This is what gets me. Honestly, its like they are so done with BigStock they aren't even going to bother fixing all the bugs cropping up and it will just crash entirely one day.

I wondering why SS do not close BS. BS earnings going down and down (but SS esrnings too ;D)
. SS have to curate many images double with double stuff. Why . they do not keep this "bridge" program open that were a time saver for SS and contributors.

Cannot bulk edit images (Safari, Mac) without it overwriting every image with the metadata from the first image selected.... Wrote to support, they did nothing....

me too with Windows/Firefox. At SS FTP uploads not working.

Big Stock

2 different problems at 2 agencies.

That's really annoying.

Well America first!  ;)

46
i want more than 15-35% from the sale price.

I'd like a unicorn.  But I realize that a real agency requires money to market, host, etc.  I'm not seeing where's there's any benefit here, aside from the cool buzzword blockchain.

i think blockchain is more than a soundword. This technology has potential to change the whole it/banking sector.

47
Well, that depends on how you define 'expensive'. Maybe the 'cost price', but cost prices can be the same with very different prices for users or customers. Like how Pond5 can give you two and a half times more than iStock... are iStock's running costs really two and a half times more than Pond5?

Even ignoring the costs for a similar setup, what about the costs for a very different setup. Zero expense passed on to buyers and contributors is great, but zero marketing is not great.

It's still too early to be excited about this idea. Maybe it's a bit too early to be anti-excited about this idea... but still. If these magical beans are $10 for a few thousand then I might pick up a few dozen and see what happens.

for me as contributor a agencie is expensive if i eran less than 50% from sales price.

48
but iam then alone and i have costs for licenses payment webspace etc.... If you have Wiredstock with a global landingpage an standardized payment/license/searchengine etc. that would be a better buyer experience.

I'm sorry.  Doesn't the buzzword p2p mean you are alone?  Dealing directly with others?  So you bear your own costs?  Otherwise where is all this content hosted?  Because if it's just a global landing page with payment, license, search engine, that makes it an agency.  With a made up currency.
You can call as you want.
Important is that this blockchain-platform is not so expensive like the agencies today are.

Why not?

rate pictures by aesthetics for that you need humans. And if you dont currate the buyer will not find images he is looking for.
Searchengine and currating will be the main challenge for WiredStock.

which turns them into another agency. taking decisions on what to sell away from sellers defeats the purpose of p2p. What the main challenge will be is maintaining the prices even at those levels they are today.

We would see but fact is that blockchain can reduce the administrative costs drastically. And if we contributors use that weapon before the angencies do that strongest our market position.

your own site can reduce administrative costs drastically. Administrative costs isn't the problem.
