I recently got a photo of two totally different mountains rejected as beeing "too similar" *sigh* It wasnt on shutterstock since I closed my account with them in 2020 and I forgot which agency it was- but I submitted lately two pictures of two different mountains in the italian dolomites (and properly put the different names in the titles) and one got rejected for beeing "too similar" to the other.... Come on - sure a mountain is a mountain and they sometimes look alike, but those were two different mountains in two different places And I dont shoot them for plainly beeing a nice mountain but to be that specific mountain....

Also, knowing that China does not see copyright as we in Europe and the US see it, why on earth do Alamy even want to disseminate our images there, far less in bulk at tiny prices.
Which will - in the long run - also mean less income for Alamy since nobody will then have to buy a licence from Alamy anylonger as pics are floating for free on the chinese market alreay....

So maybe we are expecting too much - to get paid for our "passion". [ironic mode off] On twitter Alamy claims the goal of a contributor on Alamy is "to bee seen" . Not paid. Alamy Content Team @AlamyContent The place for inspiration, tips & trends. Join our contributor hub and give your passion a platform. Why? Because all photographers deserve to be seen.

Talking about Shitterstock - what happened to our StockCoalition?

unlike Adobe and Shutter, I have never had anything rejected.
But thats also a very dangerous side of the Alamy business- they dont care at all if you upload stuff with no permission or release and get in trouble later on. Esp Shutterstock looks very closely to what is allowed and what not (and might better work as editorial). I always hated SS rejections and closed my account last year due to the .10 sales. But I did learn alot about laws and releases from them. Alamy does not care at all about restrictions. If you get in trouble later on - its gonna be you to fight and pay the lawyer..... I see an unbelieveable amount of pics on Alamy showing either people they have no release for, buildings I know which are strictly forbidden to capture and sale or taken in public areas with entrance fees which usually also deny taking pics for commercial use. And we all have heard of those advocats searching the internet for "wrong" pics with no relase to sue the photographer... Thats the weak side of Alamy.

Sales of license value has declined, so income has declined.
Yepp- same over here. In 2021 nearly twice as many sales as in 2020 but only 3/4 income of the 2020 figures.... More sales, less income.

Spending more time on my stockbusiness- means more travelling, taking more pictures and uploading more pictures. Back to my 2019 level would be great. I was way too busy doing other stuff in 2021.
Getting back to more macro pictures as I did in the beginning. Might mean finally buying that macro lens for my sony 7Rii. I now only have a macro for my old 77i.
And finally taking more pics of "usual" stuff, not only the very special and beautiful things I come across. When surfing other people portfolios I often come across those "normal" subjects I also see but always forget taking a shot of.....
Looking for new markets is also a plan. Applied for stocksy yesterday a second time after beeing turned down in 2019.
And if I need a new mobile in 2022 I want to buy one with a real good camera. Although my Sony Experia should take good pics at 19 MB it does not fulfill this at all and I keep missing good scenes while not carrying my Sony 7Rii with me all the time...
Lets go for it!

Seems to be the "new Alamy"... My last four sales : Summary for 01 December 2021 to 31 December 2021 ( 4 item(s) totalling $0.96 )
Three sales for 0.15 and one sale 0.51
I left Shutterstock when they started the 0.10 sales and now Alamy is following them....

I havent sold a single pic for 8 days now. That is very very unusual - I usually sell like 10 or 15 pics in 8 days....

One of my images was used for a postage stamp - didnt make more than pennies for that as well... I also had a pic used for a book cover. I bought the book and gave it to my mum as a present... She was proud to see one of my pics beeing used on a book cover

The only platform I never ever sold anything on..... Even the smallest agency has more sales for me than pond5 does.

Never heard of them before. Read the rules for contributors.
Got a little confused by "finished files must be 50mb JPG files". 50 MB ?
Wow, thats a lot..... And exactly 50MB not more or less?

any change for last 3 weeks compared to previous ones?
Wow- that explains my sudden low sales on ADOBE... I was wondering whats going on.... My sales went down to 1 or 2 sales a week! I never had that before during the last two years. And I was wondering whats going on.

I reactivated my account in autumn but dont upload new stuff. But I now only have 0.10 sales and I am thinking about completely shutting down my account now.
Its not the new level structure but those 10 cent sales which make me really angry. Probably time for real action and a complete shutdown of my acount.

I'll just hope that most others who might care are making more than that.
My regular sales usually make up for that ridicolous connected stuff.... Although January 2021 was quite low in regular sales compared to previous months.

Theres a field where you can post explanations for the reviewer at the end of the submit page- have you tried to explain?

Every single sale is 0.10 on my side. Not one sale higher than 0.10.
This started in june or july and was the reason for me to deactivate my account for two months. I later activated it again but dont upload any new stuff just keep the old stuff .
So I still have sales but never higher than 0.10

Those connect sales are a real pain in the a*- for 19 connect sales I get 0.11 cent for december 2020 *wow* But the regular sales are still good with iStock for me: 25 regular sales for 43,85 $
My december RPD is $2,99 with iStock.... Better than any other agency. Thats why I always forgive them those stupid connect sales......

i've always considered LCV the worst reason for rejection - let the market decide
Yeah. I have several sets of pics which were refused as haveing no "commercial value" with one agency A and they do sell very good at another agency B. I often think what a shame I could not place them with agency A since they do sell quite well, even good sales on demand for 50 and 60 Dollars. So what made the reviewer of agency A think they are of no commercial value.....

Im still at the green level. Was .30 per image and will be 025 from now on. I once had a hugh expensive sale with deposit, that made me stay with them

I put them on both. Not really sure it takes sales away from SS. Big Stock sales are low but I get a few sales most days.
If it would take sales from SS I would prefer BS anyway. Every sale on BS is minimum 0.25 $, SS sales are nearly all just 0.10 $. So BS pays 2,5 x as much as SS does. But there are hardly any sales. Over the last three months I had 10 sales on BS. With a portfolio of 1700 pictures. Ridicolous..... I probably will never reach payout with them That is in number of sales about he same I had on Alamy ( 11 sales in 2020) - but that made 220 $ earnings for me. And its easy uploading to Alamy, no downsizing....

Dont bother with BigStock. Its not worth it. I had sales for 14 $ altogether for a period of more than two years now and I stopped uploading to them.
What do you make on SS though? If it's also $14 over two years, and the OP is making $1,400, or $14,000... then it might be worth it.
In 2020 I earned about 400 $ on SS although I stopped uploading in June and had my portfolio deactiveated for two months. BS made 7 $ over the same period. To me that is a difference. And its not that easy uploading to BS since they handle a max-size of 25 MB and most of my pics are around 45 MB in size. So that means I have to downscale pics for BS. And thats where the "its not worth the effort" comes in. Too much hazzle (downsizing) for nearly no earnings.

I got that message as well. And this is the second time in only two months already.
I ignored the one a few weeks ago but then the deep meta stuff didnt work anylonger. So I changed my password then.
And now again a request to change password.
What the heck is going on at Getty?
