Thats one crazy experience
Serendipitous that everyone is ok

Time to buy a lottery ticket

Why cloak and dagger with the contributer earnings?
I agree with Joann, the more open terms and policies are and the less restrictions on deleting files, etc. the easier it is to generate interest from contributers

Blogs like this have even more people jump in and start putting 'images sitting on their harddrive' on micro sites, thus flooding the sites with utter rubbish

They suck
I dont submit there for a long time

The crappy sites dont care about marketing images, therefore why should i care about giving them my images

Same as Peter Lik selling some of his images for big bucks
Dont get me wrong, he has some very nice images, but seriously I can go to 500px and buy some putstanding images for a fraction
So its being a good businessman andmarketingyourself and being licky enough for a few 'important' or influential people to like your work and your off tothe races

He should sell it on microstock sites now...

CS is on autopilot

I once loved this little site, although sales were never great, but upload, reviews, and a generally contributer friendly atmosphere were its attraction

VB gives you the $49

Yes
This whole industry is getting flooded with content, thus making all our tiny portfolios even smaller
SS is accepting 1M images each week! ONE MILLION!!
Their initial test to enter is 1/10
Who cant pass that?
See where this is going?

Quick question:
what if I'm from a country A and get all the permits I need to fly a drone commercially, if I travel to country B will I need to get different permits?

Of course, whenever you visit another country you have to obey all the laws of the land

263
Boggles the mind how many people sign up to micro sites without a clue of the terms theyre agreeing to
I cant remember if it was here or on the SS forum where some noob was flabbergasted that he received $0.25 for a sale of an image.
Really?

I wonder how much money the micros are sitting on from people that upload a few images, get disenchanted, and just basically quit leaving their images and whatever sales they make on the table.

I do believe in the 'cap sales theory'
I guess with such an insanely huge library, by capping it will a/ distribute sales to more contributers and b/ make sure that the image library gets churned for searches, so that a wider variety of images have a chance to sell

We will never be privy to any micros way of conducting business, but there are too many contributers who see patterns like this for it to be merely coincidence

I'm trying to imagine a scenario where I'd ever say this to anyone.

"I'd like a burger, but I don't have a big budget." "I'd like a bespoke suit, but I don't have a big budget." "I'd like my hair cut and colored, but I don't have a big budget." "I'd like two tons of gravel, but I don't have a big budget." "I'd like your company to mow my lawn, but I don't have a big budget." "I'd like you to cure this infection, but I don't have  big budget."

Replies:
I hope you dont mind your stomach growling, i hope you like hand me downs, i hope you dont look in the mirror, i hope you like dirt, i hope you dont mind gangrene

SS has to be losing respect from buyers and contributers with stuff like this

Once upon a time it was the model micro agency
Now every week seems to be a notch down for one reason or another, esp after going public

Alamy.com / Re: Changes in QA in 17?
« on: March 14, 2017, 18:13 »
They dont check every image, but the ones they check have to be technically sound.
If you fail submission, you can be in the 'sin bin' for a short time.
Its a great way to learn to self-scrutinize every image for texhnical soundness

Alamy.com / Re: Current Cleared Balance ?
« on: March 12, 2017, 15:24 »
wow thats a long time to allow a customer to have an outstanding invoice!

i mean, anything can happen, the company declares bankruptcy, etc and defaults on the bill

i dont think i've ever had to wait longer than 3 monthsfor clearance, but it is concerning that Alamy would accept that as a matter of fact

Alamy.com / Re: Current Cleared Balance ?

General rule is if a sale doesnt clear after 3 months, you can contact Alamy, otherwise customers have 3 months to pay

I never saw an official announcement from ss on the site
Deals being made without telling contributers, and what is the commission? Subscription price?
Microstock is a wretched industry now, and getting more disappointingby the day!

It is not on the Shutterstock site.
But is that enough official for you? ;)

I mentioned no official announcement from ss - not in the way that I doubt the truthfulness of this, but in a way to express disappointment that I had heard it through third party media rather than an official announcement or email from ss.

Disappointing indeed
