Is anyone else having a dramatic increase in sales this month? They have definitely changed the best match because some of my files are appearing on the front page in some searches when before I was unable to even find any of my photos. If things keep up iStock might have its best month since February 2008 and be my top earner this month. Anyone else seeing a change? Also, has anyone noticed whether new files are getting exposure again or if they are still buried as soon as they are approved?

It is a great idea and would be a nice tool for the submitters. Someone just needs to figure out a way to get the microstock sites on board.

Meh I just wish they would change there search so you don't have to constantly feed the beast to maintain decent sales. (Some claim this doesn't happen to them -- I don't believe them)

Like many others here, I am rooting for Dreamstime to take the lead. So far this month they are in 1st for me. But Shutterstock is catching up after a slow start.

What contributors don't realise is a sale for us is the end product.A sale for a buyer is probably at the beginning of a project and alot of buyers WONT be buying everyday as they will be working on said project/design.
Yes I'm sure none of us are smart enough to figure that out. Thank you for enlightening us poor unintelligent sobs with your endless wisdom. What oh what would we do without you.

That reminds me; I'm curious. When does your posting ban lift at istock? And when that happens, will we be graced less frequently with your presence here?

There has definitely been a change. What were at the bottom of my gallery before (top selling files) are now at the front.
EDIT: A quick search using one of the most relevant and popular keywords showed my photo on the 1st page 2nd photo. It is actually possible to find my images in the search again woo.

Mac. No viruses, no threats, no registry cleaning, no overall system cleaning, no HDD defragmentation, no chance for the configuration to become obsolete in 3 yrs, no custom assembled chinese desktops.
Of course, it's up to you to choose what suits your needs.
The 1 virus I have gotten using a PC was because I was greedy and tried to rip a program. It took me about 10 minutes to get rid of the virus by doing system restore and all was fine. I have no firewall and no anti-virus/spyware applications. The solution to avoiding viruses is nothing more than intelligence. The configuration is going to become obsolete in time no matter OS you have. The difference is how easy and cost effective you can update your machine so it is not as obsolete. Microsoft wins in that category hands down.

Comments & Explanations:
- Enhanced license at Shutterstock helped it beat November.
- Dreamstime is closing in on Shutterstock to become my top earner. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens in Q1 2009. I really like DT and hope the trend continues.
- Istock up slightly over november, but down like 60% over december 2007.
- Even though I can't get anything new accepted to Crestock, the stuff that is already accepted has been selling more often.
- 123RF was so horrible last month that the 183% increase this month is still disappointing.
- Snapvillage, Canstockphoto, Featurepics..... not even worth mentioning. Less than .5% combined so I just left them off. I no longer upload to any of them.

Made less per month in 2008 than in 2007 despite increasing my portfolio size by about 30%. So no not really that happy with 2008 stats, it seems you have to constantly and drastically increase your portfolio size each year just to maintain the same level of income. Too much * competition these days.

Just had a 100% rejection as well.  If they re-reviewed all their accepted images under these standards, they would prolly have less than 1,000 files left. I know all of mine would be rejected.

An istock admin has confirmed that the Premier Collection is for istock exclusive contributors only.
Good. Let them charge 10x as much for exclusive content, that would improve our sales. I doubt buyers care if an image is exclusive or not especially when there is no difference in quality between the two.

I really like limiting keywords to 10-15 words. If you can't get your message across in ten words there is something wrong.
Since two years I rank my keywords in order of relevance. Any site can cut them off where they like, 5, 10, 15 or whatever, I'm still sure the most relevant ones will stay. It would be great if the search engines took this relevance-ranking into account, but only CanStockPhoto and Fotolia do it.
To make ranking fast, I wrote a script tool for it.
Can you me more careful when you post links on this forum.When i clicked on your link.. my pc froze and could not even shut in down and had to turn the power of at the mains which as you no aint good for a pc.
There is nothing wrong with his link. It must be your computer. Don't be so quick to attack him.

Comments:
First off, I uploaded very little in 2008, only about 85 files. So that is a big cause for the large drops.
70% rise in income at Istock over last month doesn't say much when October was my worst month ever, even below my first month uploading. The 48% decrease compared to my typical month there says more about how IS is doing.
This was my worst month of the year, not by much though. Things are already looking good for December with an EL already from SS, and strong sales on other sites including Istock. Did they change the best match again or something? The past 10 days have been A LOT better than the 40 before them.
