Actually, I think the API for images has been that way for a long time. I deleted all my bestsellers when I found out that was happening, and that was quite a while ago. Theres probably a post about it here somewhere.

edit: heres a post from 2017, post #5 talks about it.

Thank you Cathyslife.

You are welcome.

I went to the forum. I was able to read threads, but it looks like you have to create a second account to post? I wasnt willing to do that.  Did you always have to, or is that new, to weed out the riffraff (us) 😂? I havent been there in ages.

« on: July 23, 2020, 08:04 »
Does anyone know what has happened to the Shutterstock forum?  I can't post on it and I don't think anyone else can (just one fluke post yesterday on the Hummer Thread that got through but that's all in over 24 hours). It looks deliberate to me rather than a fault. New threads can't be started either.  The only thing that you can do if you manage to log in is to up/down vote comments already there.  Has Shutterstock suspended it due to negative comments?

Is it just me or has the SS forum disabled 'quotes'?

I dont think so. I just quoted you. But I work on an ipad and this forum software isnt very ipad friendly.
.

I don't mean the SS forum on MSG but the SS forum on Shutterstock. No new posts since Tuesday either.

OK got it. I saw another thread, too, where it might be possible they disabled the SS forum altogether. Sorry I misunderstood

Hi,
after deleting my images one by one, my portfolio now is empty. However, when I look in my account in the column View all top performers there are still images showing up, that are offered by Shutterstock as Get this image for FREE. Download this image now with a free trial. ...

Furthermore, I find (all) my images, that I had on Shutterstock and which are now deleted, on Google images linked to Shutterstock. Doesn't Shutterstock have to make sure that these pictures are no longer there?
Raymond

I think your images will show in searches for awhile, but if you click and follow them to SS, and try to purchase them, it will say they are no longer available or contact support, or something like that. Also remember that the contributor agreement allows them to sell your images for a certain period of time even after you have deleted or disabled.

How self-centered do you have to be to really think a WORLDWIDE pandemic or the news-coverage of it has anything to do with your lousy US election ?
You know, the rest of the world is suffering from the pandemic as well, it's all that is in the news all day here in Europe and we have no upcoming election and could not really care much about your US election. So, you think Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia (you know, these huge pieces of land across the ocean?) will stop covering Covid in the daily media too once your election is over? Do you think all the restrictions that are put upon us in our daily lives in Europe will be lifted once your US election is over? Do you think all microstock content is sold to the US market only? because I can guarantee you that it is not. You do realize that the US is only making up 4.23% of the world population? And you think the remaining 95,77% of the world populaton will stop experiencing, suffering from, and covering Covid in the medie once your election is over?! Seriosuly? Like, SERIOUSLY?!

Good grief take a pill. All that worrying and stress over a virus that most recover from is going to give you a heart attack.

Ive seen a couple more tweets the last couple of days of SS buyers not being able to buy an image they need, and SS contacting the contributor to re-upload it/turn it on. Yes! Its working! 👍
How much would SS pay for re-uploaded images?

Ten cents, Im sure! One person sent a message back to SS support, with a link to the other sites he offers it on. 😂 If the buyers would have contacted him directly, he of course would have sold it to them.

Hi,
I am deleting my images on Shutterstock one by one. You probably know why ....
When checking it the next day, I still find many of those images that obviously have not been deleted. They are offered by shutterstock as "Get these images for FREE. Download this image now with a free trial."
How is this possible? Does anyone know how I can get these images deleted permanently?
Your help would be greatly apprechiated.

Might take 90 days to delete, in the contract you agreed to.

I manually deleted 6,800 assets with no limits from SS.  Used the script for the stills and manually killed 2300 videos within two weeks.  I bet they fk with us more by formally limiting how many assets one can delete in a given period.

Yep, Im surprised that hasnt happened already. They imposed that you cant reactivate for 30 days crap, this will be next.

All content should have a Covid-19 filter on it...meaning, life as usual but with the new reality we all see every day...people wearing masks, social distancing, etc.

https://www.crowdcast.io/mhayward2909

I wish you all the best of luck!

Mat Hayward

Isn't that faking reality  then ?

#plandemic

The scaremongering will last until the US elections in Nov., then it will magically disappear, like all the other media/social media fads. Yes, there will still be a virus, just like there always was. Just like there is one EVERY year that kills tens of thousands of people.

Seems like youd get better mileage out of images that are for generic virus issues, that could be used every year.

No, Im not willing to accept that wearing masks is going to be normal forever. Thats just ridiculous.

They are a business. They do what makes the most money for them. Most businesses do. Maybe you arent cut out for microstock. Maybe you are better suited for journalism.

we are also businesses. Microstock is also business, it's not like only agencies are businesses here.

And as a business, you have the ability to choose not to do business with a company that doesnt further your goals. They do whats best for them...you should to.

I've said in my previous post that not all the microstockers are Photographer (or Videgrapher)
I'm a motion designer and a 3d artist.
As Everest said, we only need time and a computer (well, and software licences too), so i think
that microstock may be more profitable for some categories of contributors, because they have less costs.
Peace!

At 10 cents an image, or 4 cents in the case of istock, I dont see how even shooting just images can be profitable for anyone living in the US.

I live in north Italy, so i don't know the situation in the US, but if you think that for you isn't profitable, just do
something else, you have the choice, as for everyone here.
Peace!

Yep. I only have images left at Adobe. And yes, I do something else. 👍☮️

i just removed all my footage from 2020 if things don't improve by next month rest will come down, or i slowly delete some each day until there not much left. i thought about deactivating but i guess there the risk they will copy the footage :/ ?

what is the point of deleting your content on ss and at the same time submit to istock where they pay you less than ss?? just curious...

The point is, one has to start somewhere. Today, its SS. Focus.
yes but deleting content on ss and submit to istock which sell 4k footage at 40$ and give you 20% commision doesn't make sense to me..

No, it doesnt to me either. Maybe they will be the next target.

I, too, am banned and I have never had any interaction with him at all. I wonder if its a Jon Oringer incognito account?

Incognito secret accounts, black opps. As seen on TV https://youtu.be/sRWtFVFSx5I

Im also banned, I guess because I pointed out that he gets barely any sales. Easy enough to see his Twitter account, though, where he spends a lot of time retweeting Jo Ann, so I thank him for that, though he only has 14 followers so hes not helping us spread the message all that much. I feel sorry for the guy.

Very sorry.

On a slightly hilarious note I see stockphotofan1 is still banging the drum for his paymasters  ;D

https://twitter.com/stockphotofan1
Lonely guy . Apparently he's blocked a lot of people so that he/she/it can reply to their tweets without response. Talk about one sided conversation

He has no followers, no likes and just seems to have taken upon himself to answer in shutterstock's place. Since they anyhow don't want to do it themselves

Seems like one more way SS botched their people handling and PR. Or maybe its Stan/Jon's frustration account

Somebody who watches for your reactions, a big troll. SS wouldn't waste the time.

Speaking of trolls.
