General Stock Discussion / Re: getty ESP royalties update delay
« on: September 20, 2017, 04:59 »
They probably didn't yet decide how much money to steal from contributors...

277
There should be some "trial" version of such software, with only agency balances and history. Everything else is more specific for some pple that analyse data to shoot new sets.

We have over 12 thousands of video files on Pond5 and then such days happen;

Only 2 days? There have been so fewer sales it's very worrisome.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Is iStock worth it for video?

Video sales on istock can go as low as $0.62 or even lower... we stopped uploading more than a year ago.

If you put so much time and money into stock and it doesn't give you the income you are planning, it kills your will slowly.

ishitty is broken in every way possible...

@sharpshot, it's more about SEO. Bigger sites have more food for search engines if optimized right.

Shutterstock.com / Re: What is going on?
« on: August 27, 2017, 01:34 »
August is a pretty bad month if nothing changes in few more days. We are currently only at $847, while we had $1088 last year.

The millennials I've encountered have an attitude of "just grab it off the Internet, because it's there and why not?"  Not sure if it's laziness, a sense of entitlement or lack of respect for others' time and effort.  But if these are the people we're counting on paying us for our work in the years to come, it doesn't matter if half of all contributors give up.  There will be nothing left for those of us who remain.

Illegal use is even more expensive than buying the footage. This is a good business opportunity for lawyers.

VideoBlocks / Re: 4K sales
« on: August 25, 2017, 00:46 »
We only get some sales of 4K on Pond5. Not that much, but we don't bother about it because it is not yet that popular.

Photography Equipment / Re: Getting started with video
« on: August 22, 2017, 01:29 »
We bought a Sony FS700 and Shogun Inferno, because we came to earn enough to be able to cover it. So yes, when you are receiving enough income to step to the next level it is logical to buy better equipment. There are a lot of people who first buy great equipment and do nothing with it. Or make videos worse than if it was shoot with LGG2. So, it is not the equipment that makes quality video, but the person behind it. #fact

Dude, if the equipment doesn't pay off, why investing a kidney for it?

Ever wondered, how much money they get to shoot GoT and make a whole episode in time? If they would have all the time they wanted, they could also play around and shoot it on iPhone7.

Thank you jjneff, some folks are just too amateurish to understand this basic fact.

Equipment doesn't matter much... you could even shoot stock footage with canon 550d.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Are new images selling?
« on: August 21, 2017, 03:44 »
It is reversed with video.... we never sold any new video. Always older files sell. Whatever we upload today, if we get lucky it could get a sale in 6 months, but almost for sure after a year.

« on: August 21, 2017, 01:13 »
Extremely bad 3/4 of the month for us too. Hoping to pick up some sales till the end of the month :\ It is not easy having almost 12k of video footage and having low sales.

295
We don't upload to istock anymore and sales are dropping down fast. There are many reasons why not to upload to istock/getty and even more reasons why support agencies such as Pond5. We just hope they can catch up with the sales of shutterstock at least <_<

296
Well, that was fast. They only tested one month o_0

There are more data about sales via Microstockr PC application, but only for past month.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istock selling well!!
« on: August 13, 2017, 23:34 »
Well, VideoBlocks gives you more per sale*... but as you have some kind of strange aversion to them, I guess it's ok to leave out the facts in this instance!

*From a commission rate perspective, and from a total $ amount perspective if your HD clips are priced at $94 or below... which most of yours seem to be.

VB gave us less per sales. They only give $33 (sometimes maybe 48). We get $39 on Pond5 with each sale. So?

Yes, number of sales on iShitty might rise, but their income is iShit, we rather sell on Pond5 which gives the most from each sale.

Nikon / Re: About D850 specs :
« on: August 12, 2017, 11:15 »
It will probably have 4K@30fps max, otherwise they would already give some information about it, because it would attract more videographers.
