I, too, am banned and I have never had any interaction with him at all. I wonder if its a Jon Oringer incognito account?

PS: on a side note, I encourage everyone reading this to dump SS,  don't JUST put your catalogue on hold. Make a statement, remove your content !!!! leaving it on shows them you're rolling on your back for a tummy rub. Submissive.

I agree.

i just removed all my footage from 2020 if things don't improve by next month rest will come down, or i slowly delete some each day until there not much left. i thought about deactivating but i guess there the risk they will copy the footage :/ ?

what is the point of deleting your content on ss and at the same time submit to istock where they pay you less than ss?? just curious...

The point is, one has to start somewhere. Today, its SS. Focus.

From here on its all downhill and if one accepts this deal then next year you be working for 0.2c per sale and so on! they had it all in the palm of their hand and blew it sky high!
Even if they get over this which they will their name is tarnished forever and buyers will eventually react! in the creative circle a bad name is the very worst that can happen a service and sooner or later they will bite the dust.

And on Jan. 1 there will be a whole new group of angry contributors, when they are reset to the lowest level and the 10 cent images start rolling in, basically cutting their earnings by half or so.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Which agencies are DEAD?!

Its summer. On top of everything else. They are all pretty much dead.

Is summer always slow for stock sales?

Always was for me. YMMV

Stretch the memory banks - Dan Padavona with Warmpicture back in 2012....

Yes! I even designed the logo for the site. I wish it would have taken
 off.

283
Yep, I was part of that one as well. The site was great. Same old problem. No buyers.

I spent hours and hours building a SYM site, it broke. Spent more hours and hours rebuilding, it broke again. I gave up. In the whole time, I think I only had one or two sales. Even with a bunch of sites linked together through a common search engine, there were no clients. It takes time and lots of money.

I clicked on your link above. I am logged into SS as a buyer. When I click the download button, it says contact support for assistance. That seems to indicate that yes, your images are disabled, and if I want it, I need to talk to them.

The SS contributor agreement says they can sell your images for 90 days (or some reasonable time) after you disable your account because some buyers may have used a lo rez thumbnail in a comp, and then want to buy the high rez.

SHUTTERSTOCK TERMS

Following the removal of any item of Content from Shutterstock, Shutterstock may amend any existing licenses to such Content for a reasonable period thereafter, for instance to support customers who may have previously activated a "comp" license.

Section e under Accounts

https://submit.shutterstock.com/legal/terms

Remember, disabling your account doesnt happen instantaneously. For instance, if you have 5,000 images, they might disable 100 at a time or something. When I was deleting mine, I had to wait until the next day for an accurate count, until the server updated.

Image for free
I have activated my SS account to delete my last images and I have discovered that SS gives my images for free

https://luisafumi.com/img-for-free.jpg
I disabled my account again.
Happens this to you too?

I put the direct link here, as all my remaining images are still there even if disabled
https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/seasonal-beer-garden-closed-autumn-fallen-1469010212

SS has a promotion now where they are giving away ten free images as a trial, to get new buyers. If your images are active, they might all have that promo on them. I deleted all my images, so I cant check if its on mine, but I suspect everyone will have that download for free trial text next to their image. If you dont want SS giving your images away, the best thing to do is delete your images and close your account. Its clear they are playing games with peoples property. I dont know why people are ok to continue doing business with such an untrustworthy company.

If you disable your photos, search for that image as a buyer and try to download it, you will likely get the same message Noedelhap got, because your images are disabled.

Sorry. Just noticed a freepik tagline in lower left. Nope.

A brief translation:
1. Install Tampermonkey, Greasemonkey or whatever monkey is native on your browser.
2. Get this script https://openuserjs.org/scripts/fokas.pokas/ssRemover - there's a simple Install button in my case.
3. Go to Catalog Manager
4. See the grey button "Delete Images" near the Add to Set, Create Set, on top of the page
5. Select images, press the button
6. There will probably be a counter at the bottom of the page. You should wait for the countdown end and report of success. Or just wait long enough.

You can also see the pics in the post. It may be helpful.

THIS IS AWESOME.  300 images gone in 5 minutes.....only 5500 more.  I just do not trust SS with my content and using "disabled" numbers as part of their portfolio count.  I do not care if I lost positioning/ranking of my images. I have images that have made me $2k. I'll just re-upload later if anything positive changes enough to warrant resubmitting.  But for now, at the end of today I will have removed 6,890 assets from SS, both video and stills. I will keep my account open, but with no content.

Sweet!

Positive changes ... yeah, I guess its possible, but not very probable. They have shareholder mouths to feed and toys to pay for. I did the same as you, deleted but kept my account open. Though I did leave one image in my account, but they deleted it.  :o  😯 I want to be able to see if any rejects mysteriously appear.

Alamy.com / Re: Vector VS images and illustrations
« on: July 10, 2020, 12:36 »
Theres no good reason to ask 75%-90% less for vectors than for photos. No other agency has such cockamamie pricing.

In the past, when I bought vectors, (not from alamy), they were always the highest priced. Which makes sense to me. I agree, it doesnt make sense that vectors are the lowest priced. If they are, zsooofija, I would do what you said, just upload jpgs to Alamy. Save the vectors for sites that pay you more.

292
Is it possible to delete individual images and how?  I have stopped uploading there but I need to keep what is there that is not selling elsewhere because pandemic has really hurt my family.  Still, I would like to delete the good images that are selling elsewhere.  Leave them with the junk.

Go to the catalog manager and delete them there. contributor site > portfolio > catalog manager.

I'll just take the time to do translate on each paragraph.

Or you can just copy/paste the url into Google Translate and get the whole page translated ;)

That link goes to a page in Russian. Not much help.

It's time consuming but I am kinda having fun doing it manually.  Seeing an image that made a lot of money then deleting it feels good because I know it is going to cost Shutterstock.  I am about 600 images into 7000.  Just do a couple of hundred a day.  Ironically, since I started deleting I have only made two 10 cent sales today.

If you click that link, then wait, English eventually comes up. I posted before waiting. Takes 7 or 8 seconds. Sorry.

Well, getting unlimited images for 16.50$ / month is not going to get a lot of traction among content creators here. They are together with Envato Elements another one responsible for the race to the bottom. Although I sell some clips through Envato I stay away from Elements.

And about the paying level, if you stay with serious agencies (a few nowadays I know) you should be able to collect those hundreds of dollars you talk about. If you stay with Envato Elements Twenty20, Bigstock, Canstock, etc etc you will always be looking at one or two digits payouts. Up your game and quality and leave those suckers behind. Not a good strategy in the medium long run to stay with them.

Excellent advice. If the OP is wise, he will take it.

Great words! Thanks for clearing clutter! I have been with is,dt,ss for few years and the numbers only going down. There used to be 2dollar or so    per download then .75 then .25 and now stupid SS. Feels like last nail in coffin of stock.
Now, I really am up for up my game, which agencies you recomond? Thank you very much and lets see in 6 months.

Kind REgards,
Sanjiv

Look in the right column. Top tier and top ten of the middle tier. Others at your own risk.

>:(

Would have been nice to turn ports on and off....
Buyers would put pics in their lightbox and the next day theyre gone......

I would only need 5 more $ to reach payout and then leave forever. But my port is off.

Do you get the same message when turning ports on? 30 days no return to off?

Good, thats exactly what we want. Frustrated buyers going elsewhere. 👍

Previously rejected works begin to emerge at adobe stock.
Guess what's next? :)

Do you mean SS? Or do you really mean adobe? Adobe is doing that too?

And this is why some contributors don't take forums or boycotts seriously. It invariably slides into contributor versus contributor instead of agency. What other people do is their choice, and this kind of garbage helps no one.

Some contributors are morons, so Im not going to take the SS boycott seriously. Really?

Really.

I am happy to protest (in my own way) SS's decisions but when contributors start slamming other contributors, don't expect me to join in this little parade. Not everyone has the luxury of stopping their income on a dime, and there is enough posts denigrating those who cannot or will not delete their portfolios to show the usual digression from "agency bad" to "what is everyone else doing and do I approve".

You wont join the SS protest, but you WILL join the parade of contributors slamming other contributors. LOL
