New Sites - General / VectorStock Redesign
« on: July 10, 2011, 04:02 »
Design of http://www.vectorstock.com/ has changed. IMO it looks better. Unfortunately 0.25 per download and 100 USD payout didn't change.

528
I stopped uploading to SS this week. This keyword issue is worse than the occasional mass rejections.

Good decision. Now, few hours later, some of my images even disappear completely.  :-\

529
I checked all my images uploaded in last month and it seems that the best thing I can do is to delete them and re-upload them when this keywords problem is fixed. Almost every image has problems with some keywords, usually the most important ones, so they are practically invisible.

Same here. But it happens often few last week - unexpected error.

531
They fixed the problem but images are buried. It also happened to me that I was able to find my images only by certain keywords and by some keywords not.

Same here

Now they fixed the problem but I cannot find my image with the word "woman" which is quite important I think. I can find it with "bread" though.

I just tried some other images and there are still some problems as well. Unfortunately it seems that the most important keyword is usually ignored.  :-\

Shutterstock is full of bugs of this type last few weeks. Approved files do appear in portfolio and disappear again few days later. Some of them didn't appear (but can be found by id number) at all so I had to contact support two times. They fixed the problem but images are buried. It also happened to me that I was able to find my images only by certain keywords and by some keywords not.
I think these glitches together with lower approval ratio these days has caused that June at Shutterstock was very bad month for me.
But you should contact support. They asked to be contacted at SS forum.

GLO has some "Merchandise license".
When I started to sell at Zazzle, they sent me email with the question where my images come from so I sent them them links to my portfolios. It looks like this question is sent to all new Zazzlers. I wonder what are the thieves answers. Personally I don't think there are many Zazzlers that would spend money for EL license. Zazzle is too uncertain business for investing money.
You can contact seller at his site - view profile - send message. But I think it is more effective to push "report violation" button at product's site or send email to [email protected] if you don't have an accout.

It's absolutely unacceptable. Does it mean that if I have to work at home and want to copy images from my office to home computer via Dropbox, they can theoretically appear anywhere for free even when I'm not copyright owner but paid for them?

Of course not.  Doesn't anyone understand the bit about 'necessary for the service'?

I know it won't happen. But is there any exact definiton of what "reasonably necessary" means?

It's absolutely unacceptable. Does it mean that if I have to work at home and want to copy images from my office to home computer via Dropbox, they can theoretically appear anywhere for free even when I'm not copyright owner but paid for them? Or preview of advertisment that I'm sending for approval but hasn't been published yet?

Uninstall. Flash disc isn't that bad.

Yes, I'm non-swimmer.  :)

I'm happy that there are no images inserted in this thread to support your arguments.  :o

Alamy.com / Re: Downloads?

I uploaded to alamy 150 images and have regular sales - one sale per month - 0.41 USD each.  :)

I believe that a sizeble proprtion of buyers do search for images from categories.

Even after the guy that owns the site tells us they don't.

Carmen from Dreamstime estimates that around 20-25% of people use the categories as they are searching. She's not the owner of dt, but I'm sure she has a few insights, as she's worked for them for a few years and I've heard that Dreamstime are pretty big. So I believe that a sizable proportion of buyers do search images from categories, if that was not the case the agencies would have abandoned them a long time back.

Here's the link to her interview, the stat she gives is at about 5 minutes. http://blog.microstockgroup.com/keywording-secrets-from-dreamstime/

I thought that all sold images at DT that have "n/a" in "Buyer searched after" column were searched in categories without any keywords. In my case it could be more than 1/3 of images.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Buying Used SLR From Friend

I used to have D60 and used it with Nikkor 35mm 1,8 lens and results were good enough. But images from kit lens were acceptable only after many corrections in Adobe Raw.

Veer / Re: Review time
« on: June 24, 2011, 10:19 »
I have about 1300 images on CanStock and 600 on Veer. You can get your 680 images uploaded and approved on Canstock  in one day.

My last review took exactly one month. I have about same sales as on Canstock.

544
Wow, you got some sales. I thought this site was only for collecting of "likes" and "praiseful comments"

IMHO none of microstock agencies has excellent logo. For example - I still don't know what is Shutterstock's green shape supposed to say.

".....on the contrary case, if at review time the image info still includes the keywords reported, editing rights are blocked and the person who reports bad info receives $0.02."

They should add to guidelines that someone who would send  "accidental or incorrect reports" for a third time will be shot.

As for vectors they are absolutely different from istock. They want eps (version 9.0 and higher) + Ai + jpg

New Sites - General / Re: Reflex Stock
« on: June 14, 2011, 08:06 »
mine show inconsistent data, varying from picture to picture, such as:

1)
Image number: 4687964 RF Stock Photo
Image Caption: Budget Stock photo of: Cardross parish church
License type: Royalty free Stock Photo

2)
Image number: claudiodivizia101100171 RF Stock Photo
Image Caption: Free Stock photos: Ruins of Cardross old parish church
License type: Royalty free Stock Photo

"budget" is better than cheap indeed. But "free" is misleading.
And my name is only shown on some pictures.

That's it - 1) from Canstock 2) from 123rf
