With a small port (181) my last download on May 26, with only one view since then . . . . this is really a deterioration from past experience.

What! just saw the D80 for $350 on the internet . . boy, the prices for these camera sure fall fast!

Newbie Discussion / Re: Basic beginers camera?« on: June 11, 2009, 10:41 »
If Nikon, start with the D80 which should be relatively cheap these days. Do yourself a favor and get the camera without the Kit Lens . . . the fact is, the quality of these lenses are way below the quality of the camera. Like mentioned before get the very cheap 50 mm 1:1.8D lens . . . great quality, low price.

For me views are normal, even had a $5.00 StockXpert pay-per-download the other day . . . . but am a little worried about the acceptance rate lately since the last batch was brutally massacred.

The interface is clean and easy to navigate, the site is responsive, the upload process was painless. Little details make our life easier like the online W8BEN and the fact that we didn't have to get the notorious ITIN or EIN (for individuals like me). Greetings . . but am alittle confused. After filling out the questionaire it said that I could submit 20 images for review (through email address) . . . . so what does this statement mean . . . . "This means you can now sign-up and apply to become a Veer Marketplace contributor. Once you pass an entrance exam (submit 10 of your best shots for our editors to examine) and then complete royalty and tax information --- youll be ready to start uploading your full portfolio. " 609

Welcome to the world of globalisation. Yes, this new world is indeed democratic in the sense that everyone is invited to the table. I lived off my painting for almost 30 years, exposing in art galleries and benefited from that elite concept. The fact is, in the art world it didn't really matter how artistic the work was, what mattered in terms of success was being in a gallery . . . context is everything. For this new everyone is invited into the gallery democratic world, it seems the market says a good, high quality image is worth about one buck and I don't know how you would remove the people from the gallery unless you yell fire.

What is specially difficult to scan is Fujifilm (Velvia and Provia) from my experience. If I remember correctly, these films have an extra emulsion layer so darks are a problem.

I had a lot of experience with the Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED Scanner a few years back and never got the quality I needed, don't get me wrong, it was good enought for small prints but that is about it. For top quality you have to start with an least an Imacon Scanner ($$) if you don't want to spend the money for a drum scan.
