I also stopped uploading videos to IS, for the same reasons. That Merriam definition means nothing. Define excessive? Is it the average world income or what? If yes, do you make more than $18.000/year from all your activities? Probably. Then you are "greedy" if you keep for you anything in excess of $18.000, instead of donating it to those in need across the world.

Simon Steinberger and Hans Braxmeier are the founders (and I guess still owners) of Pixabay. I guess their plan is to keep growing until they get a multimillion dollar offer.

Getty and Klein were just two opportunistic bankers. They bought Tony Stone Images and re-branded the business as Getty Images.
How I miss submitting directly to Tony Stone Images before it was bought out by Getty Images. Those were seriously some great money making days. I do recall though that Tony Stone Images was just one of many acquisitions at the time in the whole branding of Getty Images. The good old days though, real images, real talent, real editors, real people.
There were many acquisitions indeed, but it was Tony Stone who started them. He had already acquired companies like Click, After-Image, etc. Getty and Klein saw the great potential of this business, bought Tony Stone Images and continued the acquisitions Tony had started.

Such a huge discount... I don't like the consequences this might bring.

The last transformation of Istock website sucks, very slow, not user friendly, hiden features, classic way is much better. They should eliminate the new view, it sucks. Will they listen this time? Carmen from Barcelona, Spain
i don't think they will listen. They are too arrogant and live in full denial mode.

Do your photos taken with mobile phones sell well? For the most part, mine do not. They are shot well with my iPhone but are offered in Small, Medium and Large sizes, and I believe buyers may know they are iPhone shots or are expecting the XL, 2XL and 3XL from my Canon Full frame.
I wonder if there is a trend for buyers at iStock to mostly buy photos that come in the larger sizes.
Size is not the problem. Sales at iStock are just bad in general.

I have just being acepted at IStock and would like to know if is recomended to upload a lot of photos to have a few aproved or we have to select the ones to upload? Is it bad to have a lot of pictures rejected? They become more selective?
Go ahead and upload them all! Images like yours are exactly what iStock needs to (hopefully) realize the big mistake they made the day they removed the high standards.

Get a cheap DSLR camera and invest all you can in education. Don't waste your money in equipment you'll probably never use. A day will come when you'll know what equipment you'll really need.

Is it even possible to apply to gettyimages (the macrostock page)? and what are they actually looking for ? is there any information ?
btw i think nature images they will NOT search for hm ?
++ is it even worth it? the macrostock ? or is it much better to offer the images in microstock only anyone here who got nearlier experience - comparison micro- to macrostock ?
Well, let me be straight forward: None of the images I am seeing in your portfolios would get you anywhere into premium collections. They look like a mix of random snap shots and a few of the typical microstock design things that are really hard to explain (yeah, they sell...). Have a look at Getty, Corbis, Stocksy, Offset, Masterfile, Plainpicture, Gallery Stock or any other premium site and see the images they offer on page 1 for any given topic.
For any premium collection, you will first have to learn to plan shoots - that includes market research, image styles, model/location/prop organization, lighting properly and post processing. No agency will allow you to do that at their expense.
I do make a better RPI at mid and macro stock these days but then again I get fewer images into them than I can get into microstock. Still it's much more fun and challenging.

You first need to focus on learning photography.
By the way: Already know what white balance is? http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/while-balance-how-and-how-important
Not all are perfect like you. If you don't want to help, at least don't discourage others.
I will never encourage mediocrity. It's that simple! If you want to be a professional in any field, you must study first. I dislike people shooting (for commercial purposes) without any basic understanding of what they are doing.

I just can't understand how so many people get into a photography business without even knowing the basics of photography. So unprofessional

Hi All, I've recently started to develop a big portfolio of stock photography. Please review my portfolio here & give me estimated success rate. I will upload about 500 photos initially in a month & then 500 every month to all stock agencies.

Thanks! Stockyme
You are just a copycat.

Hi Digital66, In 2015...$20-$70. I think Semmick is spot on with his estimate. The golden years are behind us, because there is too much supply now.
Don't copy other photographers. You can work on the same idea, lets say a dog riding a bike, but as long as the dog, bike, composition, lighting, placement is unique to you and doesn't look like you copied someone else's photo. Companies shut down accounts that copy other contributors...
Why does everyone, newbies mostly think is a good idea to copy top sellers? ? Popular images and keywords get a lot of competition too. And, even if you work on the same idea, still nothing guarantees that is going to get a decent search placement, and appear on the initial pages...So how good is an image if the buyer won't see it?
I am using photos & photoshop to design most popular & professional images that are top sellers these days.
Do you mean you are copycatting?
Hi sweetgirll, I guess your message is not for me, but for the person who started this thread: stockyme I hate copycats!

Cobalt, most of your comments about the people of Greece have been so unpleasant and even offensive. That's sad.
Why do you keep thinking you are the IMF or European Central Bank? You are just a regular German citizen.

Getty is a tiny company compared to adobe, this is not an evenly matched competition.
They know it, and must be really scared (Isn't this the first time they start a thread about a competitor?). Things are just getting worst at iStock/Getty and trust from most exclusives is gone.
