Pond5 / Re: So has anybody sold any images on Pond5?
« on: September 09, 2021, 18:29 »
Personally, I wouldn't bother submitting images. P5 is best known for clips. Very hit and miss agency for me and VERY miss lately. With just over 3000 clips I've managed 18 sales @ $226.00 total with 3191 views over the past year.
The best thing about P5 is you can change/alter the price of your work if they decide to lower the commission which I did a few years back. I don't know if increasing the price of each clip by $5 had a direct effect on sales but the agency is definitely on the decline for me.

with a port of 4500 clips i have about 50 sales per month since 2012...the agency isn't in decline,it takes the right clips to have a sale....price doesn't matter most of time...i price my clips 149/79$....

Thanks for your experience, Visualab.
According to that, then you have revenue from sales at Pond5 through GPP and revenue from sales at Adobe directly.
I would be interested in a comparison there. Can of course look different for everyone.
I think for my own comparison I have to upload my footage to both Pond5 and Adobe.
I had also already started, but I wondered in the meantime whether this would be superfluous, because of GPP at Pond5.
when you join gpp program and upload to adobe as well pond5 has a duplicate file checker that avoid duplicate if the same file is already on adobe library...said that sometimes it happens that some files go beyond the control....i have one duplicate file over 4000,and when i sell it from adobe i get 28 euros and when i sell it through gpp i get 19,60$...do your math...

3
i didn't disable gpp program, btw i upload to adobe by myself...the revenues from gpp program are always 40% of the agency selling price minus pond5 cut...i'm not esclusive at pond5 so i can't help you...

4
pond5 takes its share when you sell through gpp program,so you likely lose money...to me it's better to upload straight to adobe instead....

You could actually extend the argument and say does a customer really need to have an exact specific image or would they just look for the cheapest image that satisfied their needs?
that's point...most of the people here think they are selling white paper...buyers are really picky because not every clip fits their project..composition,light,motion and so on...they have to satisfy their customer and this is more important than save 10$...

Exclusive on pond5 with videos PLUS partner like Adobe, hey, in that way I offer my videos on the both most best agencies and just have to upload ones.

i would upload to both agencies because if you upload only at pond5  every sales through adobe partnership you lose the pond5 cut...

just a question??why a buyer should buy your clip at "regular" price if this clip has a stamp on it that says that it's included in the membership program??

Because if they're not a member then they'd have to shell out a minimum of $199 to subscribe so they can download it as part of their membership.
ok...that makes sense...

8
wrong....you can lose regular sales if your clips are available on the membership program which sell your clip at much lower price....
I can't see myself losing anything.
But I can see additional income in my bank account.
There are two payouts every month. Not just one.

i can understand put some clips(not best seller) in the membership program to have a side income but all the clips it's like to compete against your self...you can have even 2 payouts but if those don't make up for one it's useless...

You can't lose anything by joining this program, you can only earn extra. All videos unlocked for membership are always available to non-members as well.

Pond5 is dead, 460 clips and not one sale in the last two months.

i wouldn't expect any regular sale with only 460 clips...

Have made regular sales on Shutterstock with 50 fewer clips in the port - totaling over $130 during this period where nothing has sold on Pond5 - and that's with a slow month for video sales in June.

you can't compare number of sales of shutterstocl vs pond5....from my experience i sell 1 clip at pond5 every 5 clips at shutterstock.....it goes this way since 11 years ago..nothing changed so far for me...

Just beginning with video and 4K. Don't intend do upload videos at GI.
Worry about possible $0,003 video sales at GI in a few years.
you don't need to wait few years...0.0003$ sales  are already there....istock getty it's a joke for video...

how do you price your clip on pond5??
I don't change the price defaults on pond5 - I am lazy ;-)
it doesn't take much time, you can set price for all the clips from your upload page or  from the account setting page...btw if you sell on istock it doesn't make sense to have higher price on pond5...
I know it is easy to change the prices, but as you said, i am not exclusive to pond5 so I stick to the default prices, as pond5 would sell for a lower price anyway if the customer asks for that.

from my point of view if i sell the same clip on adobe and ss the default price for me is the price of adobe and ss 79/149...it doesn't make to much sense price at 50/25..overall if it doesn't bring in more sales which seems to be your case...this only my opinion...have good luck with sales...
But thanks for the hint! :-)

My numbers for January - May 2021:
- Pond5: 2 video sales (18% revenue share)
- Shutterstock: 12 video sales (33% revenue share)
- AdobeStock: 1 video sale (16% revenue share)
- I-Stock: 40 video sales (33% revenue share)

All sites have the same portfolio - Pond5 performed a lot better in 2020 for me.
how do you price your clip on pond5??

Shutterstock.com / select footage collection
« on: June 09, 2021, 06:43 »
hi,has anyone footages in this collection??some of my clips has been selected but i'm not sure to join considering that those are top seller clips and i'm afraid to lose sales because of the price of this collection..399$ 4k..
any experience with select collection?

Anyone knows what type of license a customer should take to use a stock footage clip in Broadcast TV commercials. One of my clips was sold with a standard license at iStock, however, I saw it being used in my local news ad. The ad is shown multiple times a day for several months on one of the main TV channels in the US.
How many dollars did you earn for that clip?
the average at istock is about 3$ for clip...go figure...it doesn't worth to sell there...

from my experience i can say that payoneer sucks...no customer service,if you have any problem it's almost impossible to contact them...at the beginning of this year i had to send them documents to prove my residence,it took 2 months and many attemps to get this documents approved...not to mention the issue with their card holder last year when they blocked all the cards...
Sounds rough, but I have heard similar about Paypal too if you are unlucky enough to have to deal with them outside of basic transfers. I haven't had any major problems in that regard (just hate their crazy fees and not allowing foreign currency transfers out). I am transferring to a bank account. Could I ask roughly where in the world you are based?

Anyone else had similar problems with Payoneer? This worries me...

italy...if you google payoneer card issue or payoneer rejected document card approval you will find lots of posts even if they delete most of them in their forum...

General Stock Discussion / Re: recommended video sites?
« on: May 24, 2021, 07:16 »
i'd stay away from istock...from my 1year test i can say that all the clips that i sold through istock suddendly lost traction(sales) on adobe pond5 and ss...so in my opinion it doesn't worth to sell on istock for 3$ and lose part of those sales where other agencies pay you better

i think that they already have the lowest reveneu in the market(apart for unlimited subscription agencies) and with this new pack the revenue for artists will drop even more...considering the cumbersome upload process and the reveneu it doesn't worth to upload there...

The free collection seems to be small. That's fine to me if it doesnt grow too much. Now please can you add a social media share button on images ?  ::)

Thanks for the feedback. Your suggestion has been duly noted.

hi matt,i see that the long sighted idea of the free collection from adobe to attract new buyers has already some followers...pond5...and other agencies will follow...it doesn't take a market genius to understand that to take advantage on other agencies needs ideas not just offer content for free...sorry for the outburst, don't take it personal...
