I just got one of those, too. 0,17 credits, because I'm emerald. This has definitely *nothing* to do with American witholding taxes - I submitted the legal form years ago and never had anything deducted til now.

i'm emerald too, i have submitted a ticket to support and no response yet.

hi

I have two of these type of downloads, $0.17 each. looks like FT doesn't think subscription is too cheap already, they have add subscription M, i wonder what's the price for subscription XS? $0.01? LOL

it's just ridiculous.

I can no longer cope with retouching and keywording of my shoots, at moment have about 10000 RAWs need to be processed (of course i wont send RAWs to anyone). i'm thinking about outsourcing retouching service, does anyone has any experience, good or bad, with keyindiagraphics? my biggest concern is safety of my images. if you have dealt with them before please give some advice, here on the forum or pm. thank you

Quote "As an IS exclusive, it possibly benefits me when you nice folks delete your files. But the majority of you are friends and really wonderful people and I do not wish to benefit from my friend's actions when I feel they are involved in a martyrdom activity that will have little affect or significance to Getty management."

You are absolutely right that you are going to benefit from this. As an exclusive your view of microstock is IStock. So your perspective is skewed to think that this initiative is just about Getty/Istock which is actually quite reasonable. Your argument holds a lot of value from your perspective but not a lot of value from mine.

This is my perspective. I have a product that I want to sell for many more years. My product will sell as long as there are people who are willing to buy it. I know that as long as there are customers I will find an outlet or an agency to represent my product and I can continue to make a living off of my images. I am willing to change and adapt as needed but as long as I have potential customers I will find a way to sell to them. If all of a sudden all of your images are offered for free because your agent decides to give them away, my customers start to go away. Pretty soon free is what is expected and I can no longer make a living because I no longer have customers. Am I scared to have my images given away by Getty... yes, but not nearly as scared as I am of them giving away everyone's images. I can create new images and I can change sales avenues but I cannot compete with free. There needs to be a stand and if I need to take a hit to my income to ensure my future that is what I need to do.

I agree that Getty/IS could care less about me, but they aren't the only players in this game. The industry is bigger than that and others are watching. The contributors need to make a stand and show a united front. If enough people step up the agencies will take notice and maybe, just maybe they will think twice before one of them strikes the next "deal".

agreed 100%.

I don't care that IS doesn't care about me but I need to try my best  to protect my products from being given away for free.

I don't really know that this will make a difference but I have joined the deactivation group just for the simple reason - to protect myself, I'm independent  if all my best photos are on google for free who will buy them on any site?

so deactivate them now before they become free.

total 191 deactivated, (full portfolio about 2400)

Doesn't look like much has changed since the 40's :)

exactly. the technology has changed dramatically and other things are surprisingly almost the same.

if you've been selling on DT for a few years, do you remember which pic they used on their off-line page?

who is the copycat now?  ;)

..... I have lost all trust and faith in DP

i agree with you 100%. the biggest mistake of my microstock life so far is actually joining DP.

20
i must say that i'm little surprised that stock top contributors are not commenting on this one. when the issue of Veer decide to put their collection on Alamy everyone was jumping up and down.

can i then assume that top contributors are making good money on DP that they don't even care that their files sold under extended license are for less than $10?

i might be a small fish in the pond but extend license for less than $10 is not on. i have emailed them to opt out partner EL.

This whole business is getting ridiculous  8)

i have to agree with this one.

why can an "AGENCY" do their own marketing?

Because they can pick up 30% with almost no work?

again, it's indeed ridiculous if any togs allow this to happen by opt in.

we should change this thread subject to

"the reason why you shouldn't submit to Depositphotos!"

let's see if that will bring their attention.
