Probably this is a software glitch, maybe the buyer was using windows vista  ;D

A little word of a newbie.

I have a fulltime job in IT but photography was a "serious" hobby the last year. After some messing around I discovered stock photography and decided to give it a try. I joined DT and FT and discovered this was quiet a serious business and I was forced to improve my photo's. So I forgot it for a while, learned a lot and invested in some new material. Then I was ready to give it a new shot.

I discovered this site that pointed me to some new agencies like 123rf and Canstockphoto. Around May I joined both sites and started to send in my modest work. I was very happy form the start, 123rf made me sales immediately and canstockphoto accepts nearly everything. . For me as hobbyist this was the ideal setup. I could earn some money from my "best" stockphoto's  at 123rf and my other work could have some extra exposure through canstock  and since they offered the one time download (no credit or subscription needed) maybe a "fan" could buy it .
Now I hope my new agency, 123rf, will not shoot me in the back. I really don't understand their motivation. A picture that sells...sells whatever the source is. For newbies like me who have 11 downloads it makes no big difference if they have to pay 5$ or4$.  If they don't want startups like me, please  tell it now.

I have had 11 sales there, but it says in the email above that I must fulfil all of the criteria to get the higher rate.  I am nowhere near the 150 accepted mark and at a 60% attrition rate it would need me to upload more than a hundred images in the next week to get in.  Which just isn't going to happen.

For me the same problem, 11 sales, 75 images online, 26 waiting for approval. Didn't receive an email neither and on their blog I see nothing concerning this.

And since it takes longer than 15 days to review new images it's very late now to hear this news.

Thanks for the reply Anglee, I can see the accepted ones in my upload history, that show they were uploaded on the 6 th.. and have tried to search for several of them but cant see them

steve.

I have the same remark, the review times are very good   :) but it takes ages to see the pictures in your portfolio. I've allready contacted support for this in the past and my pictures appeared immediately after my question. Now I've learned to have some more patience, hope however this issue will improve in future. The same problem is also with canstockphoto after they renewed the site.

How can you know if a site is using your picture "illegale" since you don't know who are the customers of your stocksites where you submitted the picture too ???

We're all copycats, we're humans and that's the way we do it. Look, learn and alter. That's called evolution. Keeping knowledge private is just stupid and contra productive in the long run.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: no salses at canstockphoto
« on: October 16, 2011, 08:50 »
As newbie I've started submitting to canstockphoto and 123rf about the same time. On Canstock I've 59 pictures in portfolio on 123rf 48. Sales on CS just around 0   ???. Sales on 123rf 9  :D. Does any newbie had some sales on CS ???

To make money in microstock you have to meet several criteria:

1. Usable concepts
2. Quality
3. Quantity
4. Upload to multiple sites (unless you want to go exclusive somewhere)

I'm also uploading to Dreamstime and Fotolia with sales one both sites. Depositphotos was one of my very first sites i was uploading to, just to get the feeling of stock.  60 pics in portfolio and 3 subs sales but stopped uploading there for now. Last week added Alamy to my agencies (also submitting there some RM pics) just to give it a try.

It just a pity CS sales doesn't start off and it makes me wonder. The site seems ok after the recent update its even better. Support is extremely good, after posting any issue an immediate answer and if possible solution is given. Sales can be made without subscription which is a good thing to start promoting sales from my personal site.

I know that its difficult with a small starting portfolio it's hard to tell which agency will be the best in the long run.

Adobe Stock / Re: FT, is picking up!
« on: October 07, 2011, 15:36 »
As a newby my sales at ft are rocking  ;) only 29 files online and allready 12 downloads, 123rf is picking up.  48 files with 8 downloads and DT 29 files online with 5 downl most disappointing is CS with 59 files online 0 downloads. Since monday I've started uploading to Alamy.
It's a tough job anyway.

Newbie Discussion / Re: New here
« on: September 08, 2011, 02:56 »
I'm new here so let me introduce myself. I'm more serious in photography since end 2010 when I bought my first dslr a nikon d5000.  1year and half later I have more than 20000 clicks. I'm trying to get in on stockphotography. I submit to fotolia,dreamstime,canstockphoto,123rf and depositphoto but have only a very small portfolio yet. Hope to learn more and slowly build up my portfolio. This is a hobby for me   since I'm full employed in IT.

(I made this post also to the newbies only but then realized nobody would be able to see it)
