Maybe Istock will become exclusively exclusive, contributer wise, while StockXpert/et. al. we be for independants only.

StockXpert.com / Re: What Happened to Payouts??
« on: October 23, 2008, 13:00 »
I wouldn't be so bothered except that I am owed money by THREE sites that are in arrears - StockXpert, 123RF (for Sept), and Fotolia - all of which appear in no big hurry to pay contributors.

When one site is slow to pay, it's a glitch.  When three of them are doing it then it looks more like a trend.

That's scarey  :o :o :o

Wow!  They seem relevant to me, with the exctption of {Clean (good condition)} and they probably had tagged that one represent something like clean used car.

hmm. Seems strange.  Pentax has always gotten good reviews on noise -- always been their strong point.  I have a K100D and have very little noise problems.

I uploaded a small batch this morning and they were reviewed in 2 hours  :-\

Yep!  this site just keeps getting better and better  ;D

Sad indeed.  I'm the same age, and I can tell you FOR SURE than 57 is way too young to die.  I, too, will miss is posts, as I have for the past few months.

I commented on the previous 10 images...

Here's another.

Here are the stats for my small but growing portfolio...

SS = 45% (up 116% over August)
IS = 31.8% (up 64% over August)
DT = 9.7% (down 46% from August)
FT = 6.7% (0 sales in August)
StockXpert = 5.9% (down 33% from August)
123 = .08% (down 50% from August)

Overall sales were up 45.7% with RPI increasing from $.46 to $.52

I logged in this morning to check progress and noticed that all the pictures in my gallery have been rearranged since yesterday.  I wonder if this means the best match for keyword searches has also changed???

I also had a SALE, the first in two weeks, so I hope something has changed and that he keeps working for me ;-)

General Stock Discussion / Re: RPI calulation
« on: September 29, 2008, 15:59 »
Thanks for all of your input.

I, too, believe one can get caught us with too much detail.  However, one can also over simplify.  What I am thinking of doing, is carrying forward to closing number of images online for each agency to the beginning number of images for the next month.  Then, at the end of the month, I enter in my closing number of images, and use the average of these two numbers to calculate RPI.  Using excel, it would mean no additional entries, just complitact the RPI formula slightly.  Seems to me this would be the best all things considered, and once I get more and more images online the error would continue to decrease.

General Stock Discussion / RPI calulation
« on: September 29, 2008, 12:05 »
both my wife and I have finally gotten enough photos uploaded and are getting enough sales to begin to make tracking meaningful.  I do, however, have a question about obtaining a meaningful RPI calculation, and that is what to use for portfolio size.

We both uploaded a fair amount this month. I probably increased my port size by 30% and my wife by 50%.  If I use the portfolio size as it is now, end of the month, I actually see a fair sized drop in RPI over last month, even though my sales are much higher.  I'm wondering if a more meaningful approach would be to use an average between first of month and end of month portfolio size for the calculation.

What do you think?

I know I only seeing this discrepancy because I don't have that many files on-line (about 150 or so), but even with mid-sized portfolios a busy month of uploading could skew the RPI results, right?

Commented on all since my last post...

If anyone knows the real name of this bush, please let me know.

Alamy.com / Re: duplicate files with different licenses

Could also be a cock-up in his filing system -- a file mistakenly copied for the uploadED folder to the TO UPload folder -- and when he keyworded the new file he choose the different licensing program.

I have mistakenly uploaded the same file twice -- and selected different categories for each file -- but with a port a small as mine it stuck out like a sore thumb and was quickly corrected.  With a larger port, I could see it slipping by.

I, too, have seen a marked increase in rejection in the past couple of months.  Last batch had 9 out of 11 rejected. (most approved on other sites).  Most common reasons are composition, uneven lighting and focus not where they thought it should be.

What is the time frame?  How long before they start promoting the site and selling images?  vivozoom.com doesn't even load yet.

SS started out very strong for me this month, but the past week has been dismal.
