Hi Guys.
We have found a good distribution partner (Getty Images) for the kind of content we produce. We will be removing all images from microstock doing the next few weeks. Microstock, especially subscription sites, are not suited for the kind of high production cost images we produce.
Best Yuri

BTW, I was looking at peopleimages, and I'd say half of the newest images are very simple one person, isolated-on-white.  Businesswoman, doctor, shopping bags, repetitive, pointing here, pointing there, pointing up, etc.  Don't you feel that is simple "microstock"/low production cost work?

Also, I see a few recent series that seem very "inspired".

is the microstock business still sustainable if even Yuri cant stay in biz ? that's THE question, and his answer is NO !

Maybe he's done in the biz.  Looking at the recents, it really seems like the work is being phoned in or being done by trainees, so perhaps this is the move to sell out and move on to retirement!

The most likely scenario, IMO.  Might just want to simplify his life.  Might be a case of burnout.

Oh almost forgot - the green download button everyone was asking for - http://www.clipartillustrations.com/image/orange-man-with-coffee-cup-and-coffee-bag/

Ok, gnight.

Great!  Love that.

Bad timing.  I'm actually a GPP subscriber (for other sites), so I could get the theme at no extra charge.  I really like the theme.  Very slick and professional.  I've got too much time invested in Symbiostock to change, though.  Besides, I have a lot of confidence in the future developments from Leo.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Symbiostock works.

I like the simpler "Download" button idea.

55
I guess I could go back and revise my descriptions to show that a clipping path is not included with the file, but is available upon request for free.

56
The answer to the question is no. I downloaded a bloggee size and a large size, and the clipping path was not retained. I will assume it was not on the other two sizes either. The path layer still shows in photoshop, but the actual path is gone.

I have some isolated images with clipping paths that might be useful to a buyer. Maybe this could be fixed for the next big upgrade?

Not good.  I have many isolated images with clipping paths and have noted this in my descriptions and keywords.  Guess I'll have to make some changes.

57
Good question.

IIRC, clipping paths are only retained on large file sizes on the agency's sites. Just wondered if anyone knew if clipping paths are retained on all sizes, large only, or ??

58
I'm finally able to do that.  I've finished uploading and am happy with my site for now.  Now I can work on new content.

59
Congratulations!

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Images look soft
« on: April 21, 2013, 16:03 »
I have noticed that on my slideshow images, but nowhere else.

Is anyone else finding that some of their images look very "soft" in the preview with the watermark.  I keep finding myself opening the originals in photoshop to check that they are as sharp as I think

61
I changed it to 490x490.  Works fine now.  Thanks.

Ok.  Thanks.  I'll try it.

I sorted that out with a 590x590 watermark.. it is perfect now..

The only problem I'm having is with the watermark on vertical images extending too far on each side.  It's slightly cut off on each side.  No big deal.  Everything else is running very smoothly.  I must say Leo has done an outstanding job with this.

actually I just looked at your wmark.. it is very different compared to mine.. it may not work..

mine is covering the image completely..

That's what Justin's using at Picturengine.

Would like to see rights managed on there also.

66
Don't know a lot about trackbacks.  Should I allow them?

67
I am wondering about having networks based on content.

As an example my site might fit into the "nature and travel" network, but not the "lifestyle and business" network.

This could be a way for the niche sites to network and market themselves.

Glenn

BTW I have some out going networks, but I don't have any incoming ( I think)  does someone want to test my site to make sure it works?  http://stockimages.glennspecht.com/wp/

I added you.  Seems to be working fine.

68
Mine worked, as well.

If anyone gets a chance, please verify your cart [edit: and checkout/filedownload] works. If there are any real problems I'll add it to my list.
I checked mine out a couple of days ago and all worked well. I have not uploaded the very latest parent theme, tho. I am one behind.

69
None of the changes that I tried worked, so I just restored it back to the original config and now it works fine.  Even the large images are uploading and processing now.  Go figure.

Try:

##

[php]

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Resource Limits ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

max_execution_time = 30     ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds
max_input_time = 60   ; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data
memory_limit = 512M      ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (62MB)

; Maximum size of POST data that PHP will accept.
post_max_size = 25M

; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 35M

#####

Name it:
php.ini
and place it in your :
public_html
file

I have no idea if this will work but it is the relevant bits I have pulled out of mine.  You can adjust the figures but these currently work for me (using Justhost)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two Positive changes
1.  When you select All Images / Drafts to work on it takes you back to drafts when you return to all images, much easier than keep having to select that option.
2.  Not sure if this is a change or not, just not noticed it before.  If you accidentally upload duplicate image and then navigate to the front end page for that image it shows both of them  - means you can easily delete the second one
70
Thanks for the tips, ajt and Tinny.  I'll give them a try.
71
I haven't been able to upload images over 10mb.  I contacted Bluehost about increasing my upload size limit.  This was their response:
"In your php.ini file, locate the following line:
upload_max_filesize = 10M
Modify that entry to read:
upload_max_filesize = 100M
You will also need to update the post_max_size entry.
Your php.ini file should be in your public_html directory. If you do not have a
php.ini file, you will need to install one. To install a default copy of php.ini
that you can modify, log into your cPanel then click on the PHP Config icon located
under "Software/Services". Once there, choose the version of PHP you will be using
and click "Save Changes" -- this will place php.ini into your public_html directory.
You can modify it using your favorite FTP program or by going to the File Manager
located in the Files section of the cPanel."
I didn't have a php.ini file, so I had to create one.  I then changed the values as instructed.  But now, my images won't process, regardless of size.  I just get a screen that says "Process Images".  I don't know if I chose the wrong php file (there were several options) or if it's something else.  I may have to restore my backup.
72
I've kind of gone back and forth on the watermark thing.  I have, in the past, included my web address, but I don't want the watermark to distract from the image itself.  I see what you're saying, though.  Might need to work on that today.  Thanks.
I'm sure there's a simple solution to this, but I'm having trouble with my vertical thumbnails.  As you can see, they are much bigger than the horizontal ones.
http://www.hookstockimages.com/portfolio-2/
My guess is that you have set a width size and somewhere need to find a height size when you are adding pictures to your portfolio.  Alternatively if you want to show all your images add an "All images" or something to your categories and see if you can add that to a separate link - I think it would be possible from within the menu area.
Just a thought - your watermark, do you want people to be able to find you from it if it is used elsewhere by adding your web address as well or just leave it with your name as there are a few Danny Hook's if you do web searches
73
Here's a plugin to prevent right clicking and also dragging.
http://www.blogseye.com/i-make-plugins/no-right-click-images-plugin/
PHOTO SLIDER PLUG-IN
I used this Meta Slider plug-in that was recommended by the Ruchas...
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/ml-slider/page/2
It's very easy to use and there is a video showing you how to do it. I have it on my side now.
www.cathyslifestockphotos.com
WARNING: images can be right-clicked and downloaded
I still need to monkey around with it and try other options, and maybe do some styling.
Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Gallery - need help
« on: April 05, 2013, 16:55 »
I tried using Meta Slider, but was unable to add images from the media library.  Did you add them from the media library or upload them?
Which site are you looking at?
http://photo.travelling-light.net is the Symbiostock testing site,
http://images.travelling-light.net is Photoshelter, and http://blog.travelling-light.net is Wordpress to match.
The front page slideshow on the Symbiostock site is the Meta Slider plugin from here: http://www.metaslider.com/
Note there may be temporary disruption to sites as I've just changed the nameservers over, following a domain hosting move.
