I just had two waterfall pics rejected.  Why?  This is a new one for me....

"Title: Title must be descriptive and relevant to the subject matter and must be in English. Titles cannot contain special characters, spelling/grammar errors, or repeat words/phrases in excess."

My title for both (same waterfall, different angles) was: Name of waterfall, Name of National Park, Name of State, USA

All in English. Completely relevant to the subject matter.  All spelled correctly.  Nothing repeated.  No special characters - just commas.

Am I missing something here??

I've had a batch rejected for incorrect location when the location is selected from their own auto complete box, is correct and the only locations in the meta data are exactly the same as that.

Had another for "Translation required" for a photo of a lake and some rocks.  With full English titles and metadata.

I think they've been sniffing all the hand sanitiser they've hoarded.

No point in stressing over it and wasting any more time. Look how many assets are being uploaded weekly, no workforce can do that reviewing job remotely decent, it's probably just a software mostly.
It just doesn't matter anymore, resubmit if you think you have a strong seller, change title or whatever, it's a waste of time to discuss, a time that could be used for resubmitting or submitting another image.

No idea what's going on inside SS but I'm busy shooting "Shutterstock reviewer sniffing glue", "Shutterstock reviewer ingesting peyote", "Shutterstock reviewer toking in parking lot"...

When Shutterstock submission page deletes the keyword "Easter" as an incorrect word and makes it impossible to add it, in Easter themed images, than something very wrong is happening there.

I cannot understand how they did not learn a thing with what happened to IS. A few years back almost everyone raved about how well SS worked pointing their good decisions in contrast with IS, the agency everyone developed a particular hate. And that made SS without doubt the strongest agency.

Now, SS seems to be following the same path of IS, instead of preserving their strong points.

At the moment SS is still my number one agency but the fall has been so big, not only in terms of revenue but also in terms of review quality, that I'm getting fed up with them.

They deleted the word Easter? Was it an Easter Image? I have some images with the keyword Easter, so I'm trying to understand what are you saying?

If Easter painted eggs together with rabbits aren't Easter symbols than I do not know anything. Let's put it this way. Imagine images of Santa Claus having the word Christmas removed.

I even tried to add them manually more than once but the system deleted them all the times. Lets hope they get approved so I try to add them in the Catalogue Manager.

it's a waste of time to re-submit perfectly acceptable images.

SS is now rejecting images as similar even if one portrays a woman and another a man doing the same action!!!

Yes I know that they are doing the same action, but aren't a man and a woman different enough to justify the approval of both images?!

Besides, not only the physical appearance is totally different but the clothing has nothing to do with each other.

So fed up!

I have noticed they do this sometimes if for example "easter' is repeated a few times - like "easter egg" "easter basket" "easter" - they might remove "easter" - without telling you they removed it or why - if you try to add it they remove it again - at least once I removed some of the other instances and they accepted it, but if you didn't notice they removed the most important keyword....

I guess that was it. All keywords were relevant. I cannot understand why would they remove a relevant keyword, that is not used as spam but the name of the items just because there are several of them!

And the worst is what you mentioned. I haven't seen a reference regarding what keywords were removed, much less the reason.

SS is just getting absurd.

Thanks.

Thanks.  I re-submitted.  One was accepted and one was rejected for a new reason.  Since they took my favorite of the two images, I'll consider it a win. :)

Not stressing here.  There are more important things to stress over.  Like, do I have enough tp or should I buy another thousand rolls? ;)
It was just a question.  I thought that was what this forum was for.  To communicate with others with what we are experiencing on sites.
If it's a waste of time to discuss, why did you spend your time replying rather than submitting more images?

Yes that could be upsetting. I've never had a keyword rejected, that I know of. Do they notify me or just make it disappear?

Your first post made it sound like they had banned the word Easter, that's why I had to ask, since my painted eggs in a basket all passed.

You can't have the same word twice or two tenses or two verbs or one will be disallowed.

You can't have TALK and Talking. You can't have RUN and Running. Since you haven't linked to the image, none of us can see if Easter is in there once and you tried to add, Easter Egg, Easter Bunny, Easter Colors... or something that contained the word Easter that's already in the keywords.

Mine was Race which makes Racing illegal. I'll just stick with racing as Race could be something with other meanings. BUT... I can't have both and if I add one, the other will be eliminated or one of them will be blocked. Happened over and over before I figured out why. "illegal words removed"

ps been that way for years.

In the last batch I uploaded, there was a picture including some pine trees in a forest. I always look at the keywords that SS suggest, to see if there are relevant keywords that I have forgotten, and in this case, SS suggested "forest", which was very relevant.

I was surprised that I had forgotten to put that word myself. But when I checked, I actually had "forest" in the keywords in the file. So SS must have removed the word for some strange reason, and then suggests it.

You get a very fast message saying that incorrect keywords have been removed or something like that. I haven't seen the list of removed keywords but noticed that they removed Easter. SS does conjugate words like run/running, etc.

But in this case I had Easter separated and used in conjunction with other words like "easter bunny" and "easter eggs" so to me it doesn't make sense that they would erase the single word since the others a set, if I'm explaining myself correctly.

Unless each single word in a set also works as a single word ("easter bunny" also is treated as "easter" and "bunny" seprately) I cannot understand why they would consider a repetition.

As Jens G, the deleted word ends up showing in the suggested keywords. If you add them they get instantly deleted everytime.

It didn't get deleted again in my case.

The real crap happens when you submit 10-15GB of video clips and they all get rejected for some i d i o t i c reason. Then you have to UPLOAD AGAIN, and it usually passes... Its just wonderful.
