Nothing wrong with Trump winning. People are tired of politicians who promise things and never deliver. People are tried of politicians who are easily bribed by lobbyist groups and help their rich friends get richer.

Trump winning is a shot in the arm for America. He just may be the best candidate in this entire election.

I don't understand the mentality. If people think the system is corrupt why vote in some super rich guy? Why not vote in someone that wants to reform the system like Bernie. Does the electorate think the solution is to only have super rich politicians from now on? And by the way rich doesn't mean incorruptible, they didn't get rich by not being greedy or knowing enough is enough.

I have no pro or con for Trump.
But do you really believe that he will not be, him too, one of these "who promise things and never deliver"?
I am sure he will; all politicians are

Looking at the presidential race with a European perspective but also having experienced a couple of elections while living in the US I think that Trump has one simple advantage over most of his competitors (both Republican or Democrat):

He has no background in politics and he speaks his mind.

No matter how crazy his ideas are, he just speaks the way he feels and it looks genuine and authentic. Something the other candidates do not show!!!

Ever since I somewhat followed the presidential elections in the US I felt like all candidates are not "real". They didn't look, talk and present themselves as a natural person rather than something that their advisors tell them to be.

Political correctness gone mad if you will. Always being careful what to say. Trying not offend anyone (which obviously is impossible).

Trump on the other hand loves to offend, to be difficult and nasty. He surely f$%&ed up many businesses and pi$$ed off many people on the way but still he managed to build a little empire. He is definitely not an economical loser.

Anyhow, IMO as long as there is no other candidate standing up like a genuine, authentic person who also says things that not everybody likes, this may be a big wake up call for America.

I'm not saying that Trump would be a good president but so far it shows that he is doing something right.

Why would Trump be any different?  Do you really think he wont be helping his rich friends and himself get richer?  Are people really that naive? The system doesn't work, it really doesn't matter who makes the false promises before the election.  I wouldn't trust Trump or Clinton, they both have a shady past.

Do you really think trump is genuine?  Even his hair is made up :)  He gets angry and walks away whenever someone makes allegations about his business deals.  An honest genuine person could admit to past mistakes but politicians can't do that, so I think Donald Trump is just another politician.  He isn't PC but he has his own way to not answer questions or to make the person asking an awkward question look stupid.  He is so verbally abusive to anyone that seriously questions him, how can anyone think that makes him genuine?

That is just my feeling. Your experience may vary. Any half-brained person would not vote for someone that suggests building a wall to Mexico etc. - that being another issue, how it's possible that so many Americans still support someone who makes such claims.

THAT, is something America has to worry about. We experience a similar issue in Germany with AfD (strong right party). They do not have a proper politcal plan but still they manage to mobilize people to go vote.

Such "politicians" also understand how to make people vote who haven't been voting for years. This is all stuff Trump is doing right.

Again, I'm not claiming he is a good politician or president. But it baffles me that all other candidates and the media is acting all surprised about his success when obviously previously elected politicians failed to understand how to address those people that now vote for Trump.

Anyway, this will be an endless discussion. I'm not in the US anymore so I will just get my popcorn and watch the show.

Roger Waters - In the Flesh! A great song with timeless lyrics, a metaphor for all dictators, fascists or communists
from Pink Floyd's album: The Wall!!!

Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
Get 'em up against the wall
(Yes the wall)
There's one in the spotlight now he don't look right to me
Get him up against the wall
(Yes the wall)
And that one looks Jewish and that one's a coon
Who let all this riffraff into the room?
There's one smoking a joint and that one's got spots
If I had my way I'd have all of you shot

Trump:
He actually wants to build a Wall!  :o
Are there any Muslims/Mexicans in the rally tonight? Deport them, etc (or get them up against the wall)
"I hope these guys get thrown into a jail" (or get them up against the wall) - exact quote
"I'd like to punch him in the face" (If I had my way I'd have all of you shot) - exact quote

Perfect analogy for the future fascist president!

Ultimately, you get the government you deserve.

I really worry about some of the rhetoric coming out of Trump's mouth and the fact that he gets more support from saying it. Americans are pretty quick to deride communism, socialism etc but apparently very few have any understanding of what fascism is and why it is so dangerous (and seductive).

But, it is none of my business what happens south of the border. I'm strapped to the bomb but can't control it. Just along for the ride.

This concert, with the audience playing along, looks like a Trump rally!

There are many of us who recognize fascist rhetoric when we see it. I just hope there are enough of us.

It is undeniable that in recent years we are witnessing a rise of populism in many countries.
People are tired of those who for years did nothing more than to f#%k them in any possible way.
People feel that they have to move to something else (but do they really know what to do?)

But the problem is that, contrary to the view of most people, it is not the politicians who rule the world, and changing politicians or political currents actually changes nothing for 99,99% of the population

Trump is the George Wallace for 2016.  GW didn't work out so well as a general candidate.

A two party system works best when there are two strong parties.  Unfortunately the GOPs insistence of fighting lost battles (social change, changing demographics, general progress) and trying to turn back the clocks to the 1930s is a losing strategy.

The exclusive strategy didn't work with the last rich business man they ran - Mitt Romney and the numbers haven't changed.  America didn't become more white, more straight, more male dominated in the past few years but on the surface it appears to have become stupider.

Trump will keep his percentage of uneducated, racist, angry voters but will lose in a landslide in the national election dragging his party down with him.

As it is the GOP only appears viable due to gerrymandering and the use of fear as a governing tactic.  There aren't any actual ideas and they've given up on trying to govern.  At this point they are so weak they are afraid of the supreme court nomination process.

Meanwhile, as with the last election cycle, the media will play along with the notion that the race is tight even though the results are rather well predicted - you can't win by excluding women, minorities, unions, LGBT community etc.  There just aren't enough poorly educated, angry white men to pull it off.

At this point Bernie is done.  Time to start bringing the party in around Hillary to make sure we don't elect our own version of Putin.
