Someone has an idea about how long that it takes for the deactivated portfolio to be not viewable on SS ?

102
And theses bxstxrds just made it in beginning of summer holidays as if by chance  >:(

103
Just disabled 2874 vectors and 2363 motion graphics and animations. (https://www.shutterstock.com/g/benchart?rid=709372)
I guess they will disappear soon
$131,473 lifetime and 211,731 downloads since december 2010

No way going from $0,38 to $0,10 subscriptions sales! They should have set them to $0,42 instead to thanks their big contributors >:(

104
Not only is Mr Oringer greedy and disrispectful to thousands of contributors that made him a billionare but he also a coward. After the biggest uprising of small and big contributors in the lifetime of his company he does not have the dignity to step up and face all the worried people that have their income at stake. I would stay away from a person like this at all costs.

Hi there,
I stopped uploading to Motion elements months ago and I've seen recently that they are selling via subscriptions program with Global Content+ Program Payouts, but there is no numbers or $ balance displayed, totally blind...
Does anyone know how many micro-$ or nano-$ earnings this means just to have an idea ?
Thanks!

General - Top Sites / Frustrated with Shutterstock reviewers
« on: November 16, 2019, 05:51 »
Just look at this https://www.shutterstock.com/video/search/countdown?sort=newest

At the same time I still got many rejections for dumb reasons of cool video backgrounds accepted anywhere else than on SS

admin edit: edited subject for wording.

For example I got videos rejected for 'similar content' which are accepted at Videohive! : when you know how it's hard to get your stuff approved by there... >:(

Pard my French, but I just have to let it out.

They reject left and right even images with good selling potential for being "similar", and when something gets rejected, there is no use to resubmit because 100% of rejected images just keep getting rejected for the same reason.

I don't think this is that much due to SS's policy itself, I think it's more about incompetent reviewers. They are not just incompetent, they are f*cking idiots.

I feel better now, but these idiots will remain being idiots and they'll just keep rejecting left and right without using their brain even a little.

1000% agree! I get rejected stuff for stupid 'similar content'. These fools are losing money, I have best selling vector christmas backgrounds which I upload in various format (square, 4/3, wide, portrait etc...) and they reject it. They used to accept it before with no problem. Well fxxx them they will sell on AS and elsewhere.

109
Yes, their system has gone crazy.
To get rid of similar images they are also punishing good contributors who put lot of efforts trying to make every work different than other.

SS team needs a good counseling

Absolutely! I have a series of vintage backgrounds in light and dark version and now they systematically reject one if the other was uploaded before.
But they sell both!

Once again,
I get this message when uploading my vector. With every other agencies no problem.
The SS upload system is pathetic since their last changes  >:(

So it's done: finally made my first sale of this one on SS : https://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-1013958596
It was worth it I guess then ;-)
I sell a lot of this in vector format so I was believing someone would have an interest in animation format

To be honest, I wouldn't call 1 sale per year "worth it"...

Not wrong but... I have around 1700 videos. If I sold each of them once a year at $21,54 that's $35700 in my pocket
That's what I was meaning. It took less time to make that anim than lots of my vectors which painfully make $20
And I guess that will be the first of a long series  :)

I understand your way of thinking, but keep in mind that the majority of your video's won't sell, ever. If you are going to make lots of animations similar to this one, you'd need more than 1 sale / year to make up for those that don't sell.

The cold, hard fact is that for most contributors, unless they have a really strong portfolio with lots of variation, only 10-15% will be viable for 1 sale or more. Maybe 1%-5% will be bestsellers which will make up for the many hours of work, but the majority of the files will never be sold.

I agree. I was not planning to make other similar videos as the results are so poor. But it's always satisfying to have one sale (and guess it won't be the first and last...)

And have you sold each of them once year at $21.54? Not enough data to say whether it's actually good or bad, but while your revelation that you have 1700 similar files was intended to be a positive (as it multiplies sales potential), it's also extremely negative at the same time! One sale a year for your one file is one thing... one sale a year for your 1700 files is another entirely!

Sure, you may have had a bunch sales on your other files for all we know, but I'm guessing you would have mentioned that if it was the case rather than ifs and maybes about what one sale on one clip might mean for a portfolio of 1700.

Don't get me wrong, I think your video is perfectly fine, the design is nice and I can see them selling... but I'm just questioning your confidence in your approach based on one sale, in one year.

Thanks for writing. No I don't have 1700 similar to this one, which was just an attempt to adapt my good selling vectors with same design. I was only meaning that if I could sell each of my video once a year, I won't be unhappy. But I'm just in the microstock video/animation game since april 2018, so it's too close to make solid stats. Only on SS I have videos that sells from 0/year, 1/year to 20-30/year but that's much more if I add other agencies. In that hard microstock deal my philosophy is that I must feel happy if I sell my work at least once a year rather than 0, but I would of course rather sell each of my file 100/month...

General - Stock Video / Re: Anyone selling on Vjloops?
« on: July 29, 2019, 06:05 »
So I applied to VJloops and I think for those of you who are motivated it can be worth the effort.
I made 23 sales and $103 for my first month (around 1600 vids portfolio).
Yes the prices are a bit low BUT you can set them above the default value if you want.
I know some of you will be angry that I put forward this kind of small agency with small prices.
I'm selling on all the big agencies except Istock but I always felt like trying with other small ones, because I had very good surprises sometimes.
For example I work with Videezy which sells at small prices I agree but sells great (around $250 per month is not ridiculuous to me) and meanwhile my sales are not decreasing on SS, P5 & AS so...

The main thing I could say about VJloops is that it's a small agency leaded by a nice guy called Kyle.
If you look at their contributor stats, they have good numbers.

One of the main lack I see is that they don't read metadata so be ready for the usual painful upload thing.

All things considered It can't be as painful as this crappy bxstxrd upload system from Getty and it sounds good to me to work with small entities.

Hello
oui je suis dans les microstocks depuis fin 2010 et pour l'instant a se passe toujours bien
Dans quel pays de l'est es-tu situ (par curiosit) ?

117
Done, the IP team has deleted his account! ouf...  :P

118
tweet sent
hope I won't be banned for that  ???

119
Here is the link:
https://www.shutterstock.com/fr/video/search?contributor=didinalucadid

Almost (if not every) all the videos are copies. If you click on a thumbnail and then on the video page look down at the 'similar content', you always have a perfect replica, you click on it and you're on another portfolio.

I can't believe how SS is faking to be blind

120
Yes will probably do that via twitter

121
I made a DMCA notice and they have answered by deleting the videos I listed from the thief portfolio but they let the portfolio still online !!!!
 >:( >:( >:(
How can they let a blatant copyright infringer online after deleting dozens of copies of my work!!!

Hi
thanks for answering
I have just applied and have some videos already approved! (user name: benchart)
Best,
Benoit

123
And now Deposit Photo has deleted the thief account
Waiting for SS to do the same...

« on: June 21, 2019, 03:35 »
Hi there, anyone here uploading their videos to Vjloops.com ?
just saw some artists links and wonder if it's worth

125
Curious - how are you finding your own videos on these other portfolios? Are they just using the same title when uploading?

I found copies of my videos just below in the 'similar clips' area, especially on SS.

Otherwise these idiots are such lazybones that they don't even take time to put some different metadata. Anyway my videos are all IPTC metadata filled so they must have downloaded my files I-don't-know-where and uploaded then without any effort.

FYI I had an email this morning from Story blocks they have shut down his/her portfolio
1/3 Next one, SS & DP soon I hope!
