Some sites (such as istock) have problems with images that are clearly auto-traced (particularly if they have not been cleaned up a lot and stripped of excessive nodes). You might want to keep that in mind if you ever plan to apply there.
I was referring my experience with clipartof. 95% of my work is auto-traced. You just need to adjust it for less nodes and you can always use "simplify" as well.

I don't understand what you mean by - The business get the same and the money must be divide for more people?
The site offers fair quality work at fair prices for all.
I'm not competing with the masses on microstock sites for a few cents.
I also get commission work that comes in.
I have good artwork that sells itself. If people like my work they'll buy it. I'm yet to see someone who dose my style and I will have a massive amount of images by the end of the year. So this will give me more exposure as well.
So I'm not worried about sharing basically.

Dennis can i make you a personal question?
Do you have anything to do with clipartof or you just try to referral some people there? Dont get my wrong but in my opinion you are trying to get some extra money by referral some people (and i dont see anything wrong with it).
I sell my art on clipartof. I think they have a good site and offerer a VERY good deal for artist. (Don't you?) I have no affiliation appart from selling on their site. They need artists and by way of paying them back for the help they've given me, I thought I'd inform people. The more artists they have the more business they will get, as will I. Make sense? Please don't take this as an insult but not everything is about the $. If I can help people I will.

Hi, You have prominant contributers giving feedback. If you look through their (clipartof) portfolios you will see some popular artist. If you think it is a problem simply as her why.
I personally don't see your point. If you look at the bottom of their home page you'll see certain information on certification.
This is not a huge funded company like the micro sites here.

I like these and the majority could be created in illustrator. Have you used autotrace in illustrator?
I haven't used autotrace with illustrator... I have been dinking around with inkscape a bit... I do have some cowboy illustrations that I just finished that I was thinking I might be able to save each color layer and then combine them in inkscape and then convert them into a vector... I know that there is a way to convert them, I'm just unsure how right at the moment. I am open to any suggestions and brainstorming anyone wants to throw my way... [/quote] Inkscape is a toy. In illustator you auto trace straight from your black and white scanned images. If you are serious abot vector, get illutrator even an early version and Adobe streamline would do.

I just got emailed back and they are looking for vector artists. I don't feel up-to-par with my vector skills, so I mostly do raster.
Guess I'll just have to work on it over the summer and then try again.
Did you show them samples? [/quote] Yeah... I pointed her to my shutterstock account where one of my largest portfolios resides... http://www.shutterstock.com/gallery.mhtml?id=369776[/quote] I like these and the majority could be created in illustrator. Have you used autotrace in illustrator?

Don't let that illness make you believe there's things you cannot do. You seem to blame every thing that's a bit hard or boring on fibromyalgia. ( A bit hard to understand, and I'm sure you've heard it before)
My body also screams after two hours keywording. If it makes you feel better Your a great artist BTW
Do you know what fibromayalgia is? It's cost me my 20 year marriage, my house and 90% of my life. It's not things I find boring or hard. IT'S EVERYTHING!
My mothers got it. Noone really knows what it is it seems. Its so many things...
Im sorry, I shouldnt have wrote the previous post but, Ive just heard so many times (from my mother) how hard things are to do. When things she enjoys is easy, and works like a charm. Your issue may be total different, and I appologize for not be able to shut up.
Maybe in the short periods she feels well she spends it doing something she enjoys? Wouldn't you?Try looking at it from her side. She complains because it totally drains the life from you. I love to draw and create. Today I was not even able to do that. AND I was not complaining I was explaining.

Hi all I am interested in learning illustrations and vector art. Any advice on how to get started?
Spend 4 years at art school. Unless you are exceptionally talented you will get nowhere otherwise (see all the 2nd rate vector artists clogging up all the sites and getting next to no sales)
Nonsense, how do you know what stock clients may or may not want? I have created work to imitate pre-schooler's drawings that have sold very well. When my children where young they created some artwork and I posted them on Zazzle for them. 4 years latter they still sell on t-shirts and stamps. Just because a style dose not meet your standards dose not make useless. Vlad I've been producing artwork as a paid freelancer for 34 years and never been in an "art school".

Ah, I see. That's cool then, though one thing is not clear for me:
why under the images, in the section "image tags", some keywords (or "tags") are clickable and lead to new results, while others are not?...
Ask them I'm not 100% up on all they do. I also have fibromyalgia and don't think clearly on technical stuff.

No I'm saying that is what I did. I have a chronic illness and find somethings hard to manage.
If you want to keyword, tag or whatever it is entirely your option.

You can "flatten transparency" Make your shadows with blends and then "expand". Once you've done that use your "pathfinder" tool and meld it together and save as Illustrator 8. Do not use raster in your image. http://www.clipartof.com/details/clipart/36169.html

If your not from the US as far as I know you just do the basics. You can check with Jamie, but that's what I remember. It was simple.

Clipartof states on its website that it needs the same paperwork shutterstock is asking for right now. So every contributor who is not an US-citizen MUST have this tax- formular before he wants to apply. Thats what their website explicitly says.
Is there another illustration site which is not from the US? (I dont want to have the hassle with all these formulars and such).
It takes about 3 minute to download, print, put your address, sign it, scan and email back. NO HASSLE.

Yes Leo,
Jamie classes it as a midsock. Unfortunately I have not found similar. I don't think I will.

I don't know anything about the Tax, I'm not in the US. You'd need to talk to Clipartof.com.
Sorry.

Thanks to Dennis for alerting us to this but wondering if there is anyone else with any direct experience of selling there who could give their experience.
Take a look at the names in the "portfolio" list and drop them an email. And Yes I have a lot of images up but plan to have thousands more. That's just the tip of the iceburg With what I have already I expect to make an easy $1000US a month

YEP it's a pro-artist site.
I personally think it best to put different styles on each site, if you are capable.
