I just share the reply of SS admin about postponing...

127
Did they implement this today or not?

I start this topic to know this. The only way to know is if someone who upload a file (less that 4MP) gets rejection or approved...

I still waiting my files for review...

128
Your title implies you already have your files rejected, it's kinda misleading.

Tell me please a proper title so i can modify

129
I just upload some 62 files yesterday (no MP restriction) but im sending it today (4MP restriction), most vector files are under 4MP, so i want to see if any of these files are rejected due to this issues.

My latest reviewed file now was sended on april 6 and reviewed on april 8, approved file under 4MP, i also upload some files (under 4MP) today to see if the are rejected due to this.

Any one have the first rejection due to 4MP issue??

Standalone vector file upload

    AI and EPS formats only
Artboard size: minimum 15 MP, maximum 68 MP

If vector of any size can be exported to image of any size, why would they even demand the minimum artboard size? To save their servers from more processing or because of the lack of programming knowledge?

If Adobe and SS normalize their requirements for standalone vectors (which would mean no min artboard size), that would be the real step forward. (accepting AI files by all agencies would be another one)

But for now, unfortunately, I assume that SS will stand by their decision for whatever internal reason, despite the fact that many people criticize them and despite the petition. Also, Adobe won't change their standalone vector requirement anytime soon.

As i mention before they develop a inefficient vector to raster algorithm; but maybe the procesing thing is an issue for them. AI and CorelDraw can create a raster file from vector one and made anykind of resize during the transformation without afecting the current size of vector design, but maybe this is a procesing issue; i dont do a deep research to see if AI or CorelDraw vector to raster algorithm really takes longer to transform from small vector to huge raster than huge vector to same size huge raster; if it takes longer this will be a problem for them because of the huge amount of vecors contributors are uploading...

Shutterstock.com / Re: Metadato on Jpg files and on CSV??
« on: April 05, 2019, 20:21 »

IT WAS POSSIBLE TO PUT METADATA ON .JPG FILES AND THEN UPLOAD TO THE SITE??  :o :o :o

That's so new for me!

Of course this will be no possbile anymore but i want to know how it works, you put the metadata on .jpg file and then the file automatically is sended to the system at the moment you upload it??

It is still possible (until april 8th on shutterstock and on other sites). You fill in the title/description and keywords in the JPG file and then after uploading that information automatically fills in on the site. I only do this once, and then upload to several websites. Now you can understand better our frustration about this change (=extra work to put the metadata somewhere else only for shutterstock).

Zsooofija, thank you so much for your reply.

Just an extra question (clarification), when you upload the .jpg with metadata, you can see the file in the "sending image/dashboard" interface with the title and keywords filled, or it is automatically sended inmediatly you upload it??

132
Converting eps files to nice looking jpegs isn't always an easy process. I'm not sure why they want the responsibility.

Also, I agree 2500x1500 seems pretty large for the artboard. I would think that would be annoyingly large for customers to work with.

If you're buying a vector ... you don't care about the jpg anyway.

They have apparently created a inefficient vector to raster algorithm that has the prerequisite that the vector design has a minimum size; by using AI or CorelDraw, when you import vector design to raster you are always able to increase the final size of the raster file without doing any change in the vecor design what is logical understanding how vector graphics works.

133
It is not clear to me where I should put my keywords if the Jpeg is not required anymore

Why no body told me about this option before  :(

I open a thread about this: https://www.microstockgroup.com/shutterstock-com/metadato-on-jpg-files-and-on-csv/msg530281/?topicseen#new

I hope to being able to upload with metadata on EPS files or CVS files soon...

Hot topic on SS now is the new dimensions for EPS files, and reading the SS Forum post I see that some people is claming about the metadata on jpg files is not possible anymore with those new changes, so my question is:

IT WAS POSSIBLE TO PUT METADATA ON .JPG FILES AND THEN UPLOAD TO THE SITE??  :o :o :o

That's so new for me!

Of course this will be no possbile anymore but i want to know how it works, you put the metadata on .jpg file and then the file automatically is sended to the system at the moment you upload it??

(As SS suports comment on forum this will be posbile by using CSV files)

I'm actually not thinking about develop website/wordpress templates, just creating my blog, using some template and use some images as background of the website...

My misunderstanding. Just using a stock image on a site does not require an enhanced license (and how it gets onto the site doesn't matter - code it yourself or use a wordpress template). It's only if you're creating a template for resale that you need an EL

Regarding the subscriptions, unless you need a huge number of images in one month, as a buyer you're better off with the pseudo-subscriptions where you get 10 images for $49 - more expensive per image, but $49 instead of $249.

You can pay for one month, but you have to be careful to cancel so you aren't billed for another month automatically (some buyers have complained that they didn't realize that and thought it was a one-time payment).

You can buy a certain number of images in a prepaid pack, but you only get 5 images for $49. However, you have one year to purchase them instead of 10 in one month with the pseudo-subscription.

Amazing!! Thank you so much!!

This is the kind of valuable feedback i was looking for!!

...I have two questions related to it, first one is related to the website usage of images. I can use a full resolution picture as background of a wordpress template??

My second question is if the monthly subscription to SS: 750 images per month: 249$ per month (0.33 per image) are just one-month  payment, or I must keep paying every month?

https://www.shutterstock.com/license

If you read the license agreement, you'll see that you need to buy an extended license to include a stock image in a digital template - so that's more expensive and you can't get that with a 750/month subscription

https://www.shutterstock.com/license-comparison

This page (and you should check for your country as the prices do vary around the world) shows you the EL prices - $199 for 2 is the cheapest:

https://www.shutterstock.com/license-comparison

And yes, get in touch with SS support to verify that you're getting what you need

Thank you for your reply Jo Ann
I'm actually not thinking about develop website/wordpress templates, just creating my blog, using some template and use some images as background of the website. I think that enhanced license is only in the case I'm selling a template that includes this particular image because in this case, the image is part of the final product and will be sold several times.

Anyway, this is an excellent question to do to SS support before starting my project, mainly because if I need to pay 199$ for two images, I think it is better for me to spend some money in a good camera and start to take my own pictures for this project.

I am wondering why you ask here, instead of asking SS directly??

Nothing you get here is official, and if you act on bad info, you are the only person that will pay the price...

You are right and thank you for your advice.

Anyway, I think it is always good to have some feedback from people of this community because here there are a lot of people with huge experience. I will double check any information before doing anything...

For long time, I was a contributor, and I will keep uploading my images as I get some significant incoming for it, but today I'm also working on some blog project, and I'm thinking now about buying some images at SS.

I have two questions related to it, first one is related to the website usage of images. I can use a full resolution picture as background of a wordpress template??

My second question is if the monthly subscription to SS: 750 images per month: 249$ per month (0.33 per image) are just one-month  payment, or I must keep paying every month? I'm a little confused about that because there is also an annual plan that is slightly cheap.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Sorry for being a little bit positive, (I know it's not really trendy around here) but I am really happy about this change. Sometimes it took me tens of minutes to optimize a file to fit under 15mb. Maybe I am the only one but I feel like the old 15mb was not fit for our times, I found it too limiting since the day it was introduced really.

Totally, i just remember some art works that i just was unable to reduce to goal size, spending whole day on it and finally discarding.

This is also amazing for time optimization so you can use fast methods to reach the effect you are looking for (fast methods that generate a bigger file) and finish more works in less time.

I'm so exited because of  this, i think i will not sleep this night!!

Haha, me too. I just finished a design and it is 24mb when saved in EPS and I can just leave it like that... what a relief.

P.S. I just realized you are being sarcastic... whatever

Im not being sarcastic, i can finally open my old folder called "Discarded Due To Memory" and upload all the content i previously cannot upload due to size issues

With an increased limit of 50 megabytes for EPS files, its easier than ever to upload your vectors

Old limit was 15mb!!

This is so exciting as old limit really limited much the kind of work you was able to upload!!

No.  The person isnt identifiable and animals dont have publicity rights.

Ok, i check it and pets and animals only need release in case they are "unique" that means famous ones or sports related animals like race horses etc; at least in SS.

Yes, and even from dog's owner

I can't login, said I was deactivated... I reset my account, now it says, your account has not been activated. The board is supposed to send an email, but none comes, checked the spam folder.

Also it advises me to contact a board administrator but there's no way to do that. I was going to post your question, but no way, maybe someone else can get through. Sorry about that.

Ok Uncle Pete, im sorry for the inconveniences and thank you so much for trying to post, i will keep looking the way to inform them about it, im pretty sure they want to include a solution for this issue in next update.

Odd, I just registered using a yahoo account.  :)

"Your account has been created. However, this board requires account activation. An activation key has been sent to the email address you provided. Please check your email for further information and also be sure to check your junk mail box. It may take a while to get the email depending on your email provider."

So the question. Stopping a file transfer, I mean pausing, will create all kinds of problems with some sites. SS is one of them. If you were uploading one file to your own site, where there aren't hundreds of others accessing at the same time, it should work.

I don't understand why you don't just minimize the window and do what you need to, leave Filezilla ftp running?

I try to register again to FZ forum with yahoo account i get next message with red letters:
Yahoo is the world's #2 forum spam enabler. Yahoo DOES NOT assure the authenticity of its users! Please use a different mail provider.

Maybe spam is related to mail server and also the country you are... who knows...

Asking your question... actually with good internet connection i have no problems, as you say i can minimize FZ windows and keep working in other things with my computer, but usually i even dont need it because it just take a few minutes to upload the files, the problem is that now, due to some difficult to explain situation i have a 90's years internet connection performance  (i mean, extremely slow internet connection), so i need to stop the process in order to being able to use internet for other proposes

Yes you have my sympathy, my Internet stinks. I just suffer and let the uploads finish, or start the upload when I'm going to go out grocery shopping.  :)

copper wire bad, too far from the phone office, maybe four miles.

Sometimes I think I have less errors because my speed is so slow that the server can get everything without being pressed for their receiving speed.

Anyway, yes you are correct. If you pause, you will probably have a lost packet or connection and the site will just get garbage or stop receiving. Unfortunate but true.

Oddly enough, I haven't done this lately, but I can drive two miles to McDonald's, Arby's or someplace with free WiFi, sit and have a soda, upload on high speed Internet and come home again, faster than I can just sit here and watch the slow connection grind up a big set of files. Because of that, I seldom make big batch uploads anymore. 10-30 is just fine.

I dont feel alone anymore, i think that i was the last man in the world with this kind of internet connection.

Filezilla is everytime making updates to the software, i think they will be interested in improve the system by including the special pause option that:
Stop uploading new files in queue but not the ones that are currently being processed.

Im still trying to register in forum to being able to make a thread about this issue, but im unable to register there :(

May you Uncle Pete or anyother user who have user in FZ forums open a thread with a link to this forum thread or copy and paste my issue from this thread??

General Stock Discussion / FTP Zilla question and issue...
« on: November 05, 2018, 19:42 »
As usual im using FTP Zilla to upload images to ShutterStock.

Usually the amount of images i upload is short enough to process the queue in just "one upload", but currently due to low internet connection and largest amount of vector images being upload (vector images than actually needs two files to upload one image) i need to stop processing queue sometimes in order to being able to use internet for other proposes.

I thought that this did not generate any problem in the upload process, but actually it does.

I start to have some images refuses due to "File Transfer Error" issue, so i discover that when you are processing a queue of files in filezilla and you stop the process (stop processing the queue), the files was incompletely uploaded; thats means that if you stop processing a file when the file upload is 50% complete, half of the file is uploaded to shutterstock and deleted form queue, what results in a corrupt file on the server (SS).

My question is, is there any way to configurate FileZilla to:
1 - When you press "Stop Processing Queue" finish to process the files that are currently being upload before stop process
OR
2 - Dont remove files form queue and delete the incomplete uploaded files from server

Thank you for your help

PS. This is a question for Filezilla web site forum, but when i try to register in this forum they dont allow me becuse my email account is on Gmail and the forum show me a message that due to recent spam attack on forum using massive gmail account they dont allow anymore users to register using gmail account... then i create a yahoo mail account to being able to register in FZ forum and i get i new message that says that yahoo is the main email service using to send spam so register a new user with yahoo account is not allowed... so before creating hundreds of email accounts with different services to discover which one is allowed i prefer to ask here.

Well, the cap theory is a feasible scenario of which there is no evidence for or against. But just thinking about that bothers many contributors and whenever they talk about it on the forum, most of the comments are hateful and violent.
