I know this is off topic, but did Fotolia stop reviewing files? I still have images awaiting moderation from February. Sorry for being off topic. Congrats on the launch.

@cthoman, no we didn't stop reviewing files. Send me an email with your account information and I will be happy to take a look for you to see what is going on.

What does the new Adobe Stock Contributor Portal mean for existing Fotolia contributors?

If you are an existing Fotolia contributor, you can continue to upload and submit your content through Fotolia theres no change. Your content will be featured on both Fotolia and Adobe Stock and is available to the words largest creative community.

Interested to try the new Adobe Stock Contributor Site? By all means, go ahead! When you sign in for the first time you will be prompted to sync your Adobe ID with your Fotolia account. If your email address is the same for both, we will do this automatically. Syncing with your Fotolia account means that your Fotolia portfolio and rank will be available in the Adobe Stock Contributor portal. Theres no impact to your Fotolia account, you can continue to log in on Fotolia with your credentials as before.

We strongly recommend to sync your accounts, which is only available on your initial login. You will not have the option to do it at a later time.
Check out our Contributor tutorial page for instructions how to use the new site.

Adobe Stock / Adobe Stock Contributor Site now live!
« on: September 19, 2016, 23:05 »
We are happy to announce the Adobe Stock Contributor Site https://contributor.stock.adobe.com, a new platform that allows you to upload and sell your photos, illustrations, videos and vectors to the worlds largest creative community. Our goal was to design a portal that makes it easy and fast to upload, index and submit your content. You can upload as many images as you want at once and the new auto-keyword feature is a time-saving tool that generates the first five keywords of each image you submit. Of course these can be modified, re-ordered and replaced as you desire.

Youll also have the ability to upload images to Adobe Stock directly from Lightroom CC and Bridge CC. Our goal is to open the feature to more content types and to integrate into more CC applications soon.

Check out our Contributor tutorial page for instructions how to use the new site and how to create successful stock photos, vectors and videos.

Lighting / Re: Two Photos Rejected for Poor Lighting/White Balance
« on: September 13, 2016, 12:29 »
Good for you on thinking outside the box (no pun intended) to get the shot you want! A bathtub and a tee shirt...use what you've got to get it done. I love it!

Your second sample the white balance looks a bit worse than your first unfortunately. It's very green on my monitor. The sampler tool you are looking for looks like an eyedropper. Select that tool then click on a spot in the image that is white. In this case, click your backdrop. It's not perfect but it will get you more in the ballpark for correct white balance. Adjust it accordingly.

Good luck!

General Stock Discussion / Re: Pictures of graffiti

To contribute images of graffiti at Adobe Stock you would need to submit a property release signed by the graffiti artist and possibly the building owner since the graffiti generally identifies the building also.

Adobe Stock / Re: JPEG is too large for uploading
« on: June 23, 2016, 13:32 »
for the price of what we are paid do the buyers deserve the image at higher resolutions? For example, the newer canon 5DS (50 mp) cost almost five thousand dollars (body only) plus the cost of decent lenses.  Do we get more $$ for using this high end equipment- No!

The microstock model wasn't created to offer images using high-end equipment, or high-dollar shoots. If a photographer wants to pay $5000 for a camera to shoot microstock, that is their choice. The same job can be accomplished with a camera under $1,000. If you have high-end equipment and want to make more money, there are macrostock agencies to submit to that will help you recoup your expenses.  :)

I feel like that was probably true a few years back. These days I am seeing more and more very high quality content produced with all levels of cameras. Regardless of what tool you are using you need to have a certain skill set to produce good quality stock imagery. A bad photographer with a great camera is still going to produce a bad image. The reverse is also true. I find the better the tool I'm using, the better quality of work I produce. More wiggle room. Without a doubt, photographers can produce great stock with an inexpensive camera. I think it's more challenging and requires a great level of skill to compete in this market however. I often wonder when I see photographers producing amazing images with inexpensive, low quality cameras how much more potential they could have using better tools. A faster shutter speed can capture an image a split second apart that creates more drama. More dynamic range allows great flexibility in post, etc.

This is my way of justifying the 1DX Mark II I just purchased. At least that's the story I gave my wife before I cut the check. I could see in her eyes she wasn't buying my story but I got away with it anyway.  ::)

I can tell you with pure honesty that I have received the best support of any kind, photography related or not through Canon CPS. I cannot say enough about how great they are. In preparing to cover the Oscars Red Carpet a couple of months ago, the Seattle CPS rep went above and beyond the call of duty to set me up with some killer gear, top level technical support and more for almost a full week (there were some unique challenges with the assignment that required extra work). He called in experts to troubleshoot with us and got everything sorted for me in time.

That was one experience that was unique. Their general services are well worth the price. If you have issues with your gear you get priority service and an incredibly fast turnaround time. The quality of work is exceptional and you get discounted rates on repais. They loan you equipment to try before you buy...plus you get a cool pin :)

I really can't say enough good things about them. If you are a Canon user, you should seriously consider joining: http://www.cps.usa.canon.com/

Adobe Stock / Re: How do you contact Fotolia reviewing team?
« on: April 05, 2016, 20:19 »
  Why isn't sketch enough proof?

@VB,

If you are posting a sketch of your vector in the model/property release section that is automatically going to trigger a release issue notification every time. The only thing you can post in there is an actual property or model release. More than likely you will be OK simply leaving that area blank for vectors.

If you are still being prompted to submit a release after posting the image with the release section blank be sure to print and sign your name as both the contributing artist and the property owner (you will also need a witness printed name and signature) and be sure that your name on the release matches your name in your account profile.

You can print our releases from here if necessary: https://us.fotolia.com/Contributor/MyReleases?download_release_templates=1

Feel free to send me an email directly if you continue to have concerns with this issue. My email address is [email protected]

Also interested about this one. Mat, could you let us know if FT/Adobe Stock accepts editorial footage?

No, I'm sorry but we do not accept editorial content at this time.

Hi Matt, thanks for the reply. Could you please guide me through the easiest process of uploading 5000 clips all without metadata embedded in them. I have csv files though :( am I going to have to copy and paste all data 5000 times? OMG!!!

@Ciderapple, please send me an email with your contact information and I will do my best to help.

email: [email protected]

thanks,

Mat

Hi @Cider Apple, currently we don't have a place for you to upload your CSV file. The system will read any embedded metadata you have in your clips however.

Adobe Stock / Re: 4K live on Adobe Stock
« on: February 05, 2016, 14:21 »
Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the great questions. I am at PhotoPro Expo in Kentucky right now so I apologize for the gaps between my communication. I will continue to check back here as often as I can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

"One question - will you accept 4096x2304 - that's a common "real 4k" resolution (16:9 ratio) and all of my 4k work is in that resolution."

Yes, we do and will continue to accept clips at 4096X2304.

Also, what's up with subscriptions? Is it true that contributors get as low as 17.50 credits for a 4k clip? If so, count me out.

No, this is not true. At this time, 4K clips sold at Adobe Stock can only be purchased for $199.99 and the commission rate is 35% which is approximately $70.  I will be sure to communicate in MSG if any changes to this price structure take place. The $17.50 commissions that have been referenced were more than likely the result of internal downloads during testing that happened before the release of 4K to the public. I am not able to verify this through anonymous posts so if you have received a $17.50 commission for 4K through Adobe Stock, please contact me directly via email: [email protected] and I will be happy to look into this for you.

"You know it is much better if we hear it straight from you. Otherwise, this looks like a trick invitation, the illusion of 70 credits while the real sales are subs..."

No tricks. Of course, anything we offer is subject to change in an effort to entice more customers and to drive sales for you. I will continue to do my best to communicate information that impacts the world of Fotolia and Adobe Stock contributors in as timely and transparent a manner as is possible.

I cannot connect to the server via ftp. Which port should I use?

I use Filezilla and it is set to Port 21 by default which works for me. Be sure to check your login and password information here if you haven't done so already: https://us.fotolia.com/Contributor/UploadContent/Ftp

Are you creating 1080 versions of any 4K clips that are uploaded?

Yes

Is the Minimum on this page - https://us.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors/Royalties/Videos - the minimum price or the minimum commission? Is the 35% really a percentage of the actual sale price or a percentage of a re-calculated fictional Fotolia-land price that works out to much less as was the case previously?

Yes, 35% is the commission based on the actual price paid. With photos and illustrations, that price varies based on the quantity of images that the customer commits to purchase. Right now at Adobe Stock the only price available to customers for 4K clips is $199.99. As mentioned before, if that changes or deviates I will be sure to communicate with you as quickly as possible.

Sorry, but I didn't found a standard price for 4K and UHD on the site! There is only price for extended licence - 200 credits,  which is the same like HD resolution! Do you mean that the 4K will be available only extended with the same price as HD?

It sounds like you are looking at Fotolia. Do a search for videos at stock.adobe.com and you should see the price options for HD or 4K clips that are available in 4K. 4K clips are only available through Extended licenses at Fotolia right now. I will let you know if that changes.

I think I have touched on all of the pending questions that are open at this time. If I missed yours, please let me know and I'll get back to you asap. As always, you are all welcome to contact me directly via email: [email protected]

Have an amazing day!

Hi Matt, I have signed up. Don't know how I can upload. Please help! Thanks!

I will be happy to help you with that @Freedom. The Reader's Digest version is that once your account is validated at Fotolia, you can upload your clips using ftp (login and password information is in your account). You would then add your title, keywords and necessary releases using the indexing tool followed by submitting the file for review. Once reviewed, if the clip is approved it will be posted in your portfolio at  both Fotolia and Adobe Stock simultaneously.

More details can be read here: https://us.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors

Feel free to send me an email if you run into any obstacles.

So, is it OK to upload 4k versions of already accepted HD or UHD clips?

Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

@Zero Talent, you can't have two copies of the same clip online. You would need to delete the HD clip, then resubmit the 4K version. Be sure to put a note to the editor explaining what you did and include the id number of the deleted version.

I have good news for video content providers. Fotolia has just been updated so the system will read embedded keywords (the keywords that you add through software programs such as Bridge and Premiere) in your uploaded video clips. In addition, the system will read the "description" metadata and will add this as the title of the clip in the indexing tool. This should speed the submission process up for you considerably. We are working hard to create new tools to make uploading new content to Fotolia and Adobe Stock a seamless process so stay tuned!

If your tax form is not current, your sales will be subject to maximum tax withholding. Once your new form is validated your sales will reflect the appropriate withholding for your status.

Commissions have not been lowered.

I see some witholding sales credits
But i recently filled out a Wben8 form and there should be a 0 witholding for images sold as per our countries treaties. Btw i got confirmation from FT of this form

So will these credits be reversed, or is this a glitch?

Thx Matt

@Noodle I can't discuss specifics of your account in the forum. Hit me up directly and I'll take a look to make sure your tax form is validated for future withholding. My email is [email protected]
