Veer / Re: Veer's New Direction
« on: September 27, 2013, 01:34 »
I  feel I should put in a good word for Veer, as I am on a pace to have my second best month ever there in Sept, and Aug was good too, earning over $100 for me. Whatever Veer is doing that's new, I like it.  ;D

It's good to hear that somebody is doing well on Veer. Maybe there is hope after all .  .  .

Veer / Re: Veer's New Direction

I used to quite like Veer but they've become a bad site for contributors.  Low sales, not much communication here anymore and various problems with uploads have put me off them.  A new gimmick is unlikely to help.  They had a great chance to become one of the big selling microstcok sites but I think they wasted it.

very well said! I remember having +80 pictures removed from my portfolio without any explanation, that was over 1 year ago

Count yourself lucky. I had 1,400 removed. When asking about it, Ryan said back in May,

"We've temporarily deactivated some older content from the Veer UGC collection to bring more stability to our platform as we prepare for the launch of our new site.  We'll be reactivating this content once the new site launches."

I get editorial downloads all the time. Lots of travel editorials get downloaded for blogs and such.

same here

100$
Way too high for a new site. 25$ would be more realistic.

Sounds interesting! Has anybody tried them out? What's the minimum payout?

Stick to ISO 80 or 100 and any decent compact will do. Once in a while I submit images from my old Canon Powershot A640 and they get accepted at the major agencies. Just scale them down to 4MP.

They contacted me as well. Offered a 5 digit number for my portfolio. It all sounded nice and all but after reading through their website I'm glad i didn't.

looking forward to hear my offer ;D

I'm still waiting for mine.

One sale since July 15, a big drop compared to previous months.

15 sales in July, so far in August 6. My stats graph looks like a mountain range, peaks and valleys, hoping for the next peak.

I wouldn't mind uploading some images, but no IPTC extraction is a show stopper for me.

163
The license seems similar to "editorial", images cannot be used for advertising.

Waste of time. Can't be bothered.  ::)

Agree. I could be an Indian photographer in Europe shooting Asian models.

165
There must be an oversupply of designers/photographers which gives the agencies leverage, as usual presented as a positive change.

Same here, lots of my Taiwan images with no author's name. They even sell one of my editorial images as regular RF. Strange outfit! I hope they do some explaining.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Can Stock can't sell
« on: May 22, 2013, 05:14 »
Well, my numbers go up, I had what he had in February and March, its all normal. That dude needs to lighten up, accusing Duncan of stealing sales is nonsense.

I agree, Canstock has been the most reliable and rock solid mid to upper-low site for years now. I don't understand why people get mad at them from time to time, just because their sales expectations haven't been met.

168
I wish you good luck, hope it does not turn out to be images(grave)yard.

I'm sure this was a carefully thought out move. Best of luck!

170
It could be a simple computer or human error, not necessarily "fishy". Just ask them to delete those three remaining images.

171
Be warned...your files need to be in CMYK and not RGB, which requires the full suite of Photoshop.  I use Elements and am unable to create files using CMYK, which I only learned after registering with ABC.

The free program FastStone Photo Resizer will convert your files to CMYK. I use it all the time to prepare files for ABC.

172
I don't get why a site would have to delete a bunch of stuff just to roll out a new site. I've never heard of that.

I agree, sounds prehistoric. Imagine one of the big 4 micro sites disables large sections of contributor portfolios for weeks on end just to work on a site upgrade. There would be huge riots such as never seen before.

Hi all

We've temporarily deactivated some older content from the Veer UGC collection to bring more stability to our platform as we prepare for the launch of our new site.  We'll be reactivating this content once the new site launches.

I'm not always able to check in on this forum, so if anyone needs a quick answer concerning their Veer account, the best way is to send an email over to [email protected].

Thanks!

Thank you for explaining, though the proper way would be to inform contributors before something like this takes place. A short email to contributors or announcement on the contributor main page could have avoided all this confusion and ill will towards Veer.

174
It seems that all the images transferred from the old Snapvillage are gone. So if you started up with Veer after the Snapvillage era you may not see any deletions, but if you are an old Snapvillager you do. It's a shame that there is no official comment from Veer on this.

175
My portfolio shrank by about 1,400. There has been no comment or explanation from Veer.
