Selling Stock Direct / Re: Digital downloads on Etsy
« on: June 30, 2020, 03:58 »
I sell digital downloads on Etsy for a few years now, but it's not purely images.  I sell templates to be used by professional baby photographers, so they can photoshop babies into it.  As a baby photographer myself, I show the finished product (with baby) on Etsy and sell the empty PSD or JPG as a digital download for a price between 16 and 23 dollars (gross).  With 48 templates active this gives me a net annual income of about 450 USD.  Not much, I know, but I made these templates for my own studio, so no extra work except submitting them to Etsy.  I have had not a single problem with client payments or infringements up till today.
(for the curious ones, this is my Etsy shop :  https://www.etsy.com/shop/AnykaPhotography)

Outstanding work, not surprised you are doing well there!

Anyone have experience selling digital downloads thru Etsy? When i looked a few years ago, this wasn't an option.

It is an option, but you have to pay 0.20U$ per item listed every four months, no matter if it sells or not.

If it sells, there is no listing fee, I believe.
" You will be charged a listing fee whether or not the listed item sells, "

Adobe Stock / Creative Cloud bonus
« on: December 18, 2019, 20:21 »
So I received an email that I had more than 300 images accepted this year, so I was given a free 12-month membership to Creative Cloud Photography. That is very nice, but I am on Linux/Ubuntu and have been using the Gimp for my images for many years. I was going to download Photoshop to see if I can get it to work with Wine, but the download page does not let me download it and gives me a "not compatible" message. Is anybody using Adobe apps on Linux?

Didn't our good Lord say something about when you give to the needy you shouldn't call attention to yourself. Yes, it is in Matthew 6:3, when you give to charity, dont even let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be secret.
Yebbut Alamy hasn't said that Christianity is in their DNA.

Same thing is expressed in many cultures, "Good deeds should be done with intention, not for attention.", "A good deed dies, when it is spoken about", "Do charity silently, or else the charity is you", etc

Odd because when I closed mine, I politely requested payment and account closing, they paid me after a few months. I was not at threshold. Times change so maybe that did too. But I wrote first and they sent the money, I didn't just delete everything and ask for money.

Was that recently or a few years ago?

And still no paying!  and no answer! There is any leverage to make them pay?

If you are in the EU they have a platform for online disputes https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/main/index.cfm?event=main.home2.show&lng=EN
From outside the EU it is difficult. You could try and call them.

They did not separate editorial from commercial at all. I did some searches and all editorial content such as Alibaba offices with big lettering on it was available for commercial use, even for products, etc.

They used to be one of the better smaller agencies, no subscriptions, until they started going downhill.

But to not receive payments and response is permanent lol

If you are not in Germany, they ignore you. Maybe posting a negative evaluation at this review site will get a reaction, it seems they respond to some complaints.

I deleted my account after that there.

How did you do that? I tried for several months, sending emails with all the info required for account closure described in the FAQ, but never got a reply or any action.

That way described in the FAQ worked for me (I required an reply email as confirmation). I was being a pain in their butts though, because I blogged about their business shenanigans several times, so it was probably welcomed by them to get rid off me.

If you want, we can make it public as well, just send me an email (see my contact info on my website) and we can work on the details.

Ok, I'll try the email method a few more times and see, before taking it to the next level. Did you use the m.hein email, or support@?

Same here.
