General Stock Discussion / Re: submitting scanned artwork (my own)
« on: December 08, 2012, 15:23 »
I have submitted a whole series of Hand Painted Collages along with property releases and had no problems.  Mine were abstract designs so, unlike yourself, no "references"  to the possible original sources were needed.

Like this:

The real reason for the trip was business in Paris,  only stopped in Munich for a few hours for dinner.  There is a Photography Trade Show in Paris.

They didn't even have time to visit Munich's wonderful Christmas Market . . . . .

Answer:  It wasn't me.

It was dinner in Munich on Monday too;

It's cool that they do this and I take it at face value. I think they are genuinely friendly and bright people. That's been my experience of dealing with them recently too. What a friendly contrast vs the arrogant snarkiness we get from IS these days.

Absolutely true.  Mr. O is a down to earth kind of guy who will continue to treat contributors with respect.

are you the tallest guy with moustache behind Jon?

How did you know?  8)

Yaymicro / Re: More API's
« on: November 23, 2012, 05:09 »
Caution is necessary concerning YAY's API information.  It seems this is not entirely true:

Webpage: imageclick.com
Country: South Korea
Commission to photographer: 50%
Commission YAY get from distributor: 50%
Price level: Subs: $178 to $945

Although the price levels are stated in $$$,  in fact, it should be in Korean wons.
I just had a sale for 0.1

Subs for $178 . . . . . .What was I thinking . . . . .

I always thought it was just literally about a girl: a promising date turning bad. Why should every Beatles' song have to do with drugs or have a second meaning?

So let's put it to bed, so to speak:

Lennon later explained that the lyric was about an affair he had been having:

"    I was very careful and paranoid because I didn't want my wife, Cyn, to know that there really was something going on outside of the household. I'd always had some kind of affairs going on, so I was trying to be sophisticated in writing about an affair. But in such a smoke-screen way that you couldn't tell. But I can't remember any specific woman it had to do with."

"Norwegian Wood" was suppose to refer to drugs.  But then again, back then, everything was suppose to refer to drugs.

I think it has something to do with these new Public Sets.  I have been selling things that haven't had any action for a very long time . . . . .  but are now part of Sets.

For me SS is also selling like crazy, while all the other sites are down . . . .  kind of like a Black Hole ravaging all the nearby stars.  Shutterstock is a great agency and they deserve it.

Does Zazzle make sense with Images? Or is it only usefull with Illustration?

My store is photo based only.  Sold a Tie yesterday, but mainly sell cards, posters, magnets and Phone Cases.

I find that lens almost useless for stock.  When I do use that lens I try to shoot at 18mm - F/11 which gives the best results.  Have a look below:

http://slrgear.com/reviews/zproducts/nikon18-55f35-56vr/tloader.htm

I will say that I have very little experience with different lenses, using the very sharp Nikon 50mm 1.8 almost exclusively.

Had my one complimentary sale within the first week of uploading, then nothing . . . .

I just noticed that they lowered payout to 30 euro.
Now I'm very close to payout - only 30 euro remaining.

 :)

« on: October 19, 2012, 12:11 »
Yeah, I see them as a small but fairly steady site. They just slowly tick along and every once in a while I get a payout. Since they are so easy to submit to and I already have most of my stuff there I just let them ride along. They fall into the "upload if I am not doing anything else" sort of sites. I don't think they have much chance of making it big time, but they also aren't in the race to screw us.

agree

I guess its a Yay, but to tell you the truth I have never lost interest in a site as fast as I have with this one.

That's was Mr. BeHereNow.

It's been a while since I heard Alan Watts speak at U of Toronto 1972.
Wow that's 40 years ago and still basically doing what I did then.

Be Here Now . . . . . .  the number one book in my life,  thanks for bringing it up.

The book "Psychotherapy East & West" (1961) by Alan Watts was a must read back in the late 60's . . . .  and is still recommended.

For what it is worth.

My story.  After graduating from University with a Science degree I made a sober decision on the future.  I made a vow to poverty and decided to live a life as an artist (painting).  That was 40 years ago and I will say that I have been successful on both accounts with no regrets.

If you want to ask why I am doing Stock Photography I will only say that I am on Sabbatical . . . meaning . .  that the world changes and some people don't.
