Ohhhhh.... I see what is going on. I was logged in - then I don't have the 'Standort' button. If I log out it is there.
Well, that still makes little sense to me. Even if I am logged in I would like to change the language.

Oh, and another thing: aren't there any sort options for the search results? Like sort by date, popularity, downloads, price? I think it should at least be possible to sort by date and price.

Simply click on "Ihr Standort" in the upper-right corner and select UK or Rest of Europe.
Hm... there is no such link or button on the website as I see it over here.

I have some little problems with the Veer Marketplace website. - I am located in Germany and the Veer site shows up in german. That is fine most of the time, but occasionally I would like to see the site in english. But I do not find any way to change the language.
- If I go to 'marketplace' and check 'Illustrations' and 'marketplace', leaving all other fields unchecked, and search for 'Italy' I get lots of photos instead of illustrations. (Clarification: this happens with the images from the marketplace. It seems to work ok for 'regular' Veer images.)
- There are some images in the search results that only show a white preview. If I click on the description the detail page is shown, but without an image.

Why do you call your contributors 'photographers'? Since when is an illustration a 'photo'?
And where do you list your commissions? You should state them clearly, without a requirement to sign up first.

I would love to try there but don't have the software to convert to CMYK. I use PSE and Lightroom 2.0. Have corresponded with them several times about whether they had some other format in place to get around the conversion (i.e. they converted once jpg or tiff uploaded, etc.), but apparently they don't. Can't afford right now to buy anymore software. That's too bad.
You can use Imagemagick for converting color spaces. Here is a link: http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/formats/#color_profile

They introduced footage only a couple of months ago, and I believe the first videos were only approved some days ago. Yesterday I had no sales

Thanks for the info, stormchaser. SSI has seen my portfolio on SS, so they know what they get. And I know that they want exclusive images, which is ok. I am looking forward to the relationship.

I was contacted by www.images.com / www.stockillustrationsource.com, because they are interested to represent my illustration work. They claim to be "the world's largest collection of rights-managed illustration" and "the leading global RF illustration brand". Since I am relatively new to the business I never heard of them. Has anyone got information about them, either as a contributor or a designer?

As I understand it, the new vector functionality is still under construction. (There was a message from one of the admins on the german forum.)
I'll wait with uploading my vectors for a couple of weeks at least, until the usual bugs have been fixed...

Hm. Checking on the questionnairre email issue. Should be resolved soon.
Has this been resolved now? I would hate seeing my input disappear in a black hole again.

I like their increasing traffic and Alexa rank Ever heard of link circles?
Hehe... Yes!

I'll pass, mainly because of the exceptionally long lock-in period of a year for all images and the red tape involved to cancel an account. Good luck!
I like their increasing traffic and Alexa rank, but the two points above make sure that I am not going to join them.

I think for a newbie vector artist it makes no sense to go exclusive anywhere. Your friend should first try the different sites, find out what gets accepted on each one and what sells. Perhaps after a year or so he/she will have a good understanding of the business and can make an informed decision.

There is something strange with the questionnaire. I filled it in, but after pressing submit the form is displayed again, but with many more entry fields and questions than before. A bug?

One important point I have seen: You can't change the price for ELs any more until emerald status for non-exclusive files. Hope this is just an error, I've asked on the FT forum and am waiting for a response...
You can bet that it is NOT an error...

- commission from exclusive images will in future be the same as nonexclusive images, if the whole portfolio is not exclusive.
Well, commisions will be the same, but you can set higher maximum prices, if you have image exclusivity.

Even Brian seems to have disappeared. He was the only good thing at SV.

The point is: is you terminate your CONTRACT with a site, they have no right to sell your images anymore. If they can't garantee to remove your images immediately, that's completely ok, PROVIDED that they allow for that in their CONTRACT - and not in some obscure other place. Any other behaviour is bad business.

Does anyone know if they accept illustrations (raster images)? They certainly have lots of them on sale, but their application form only mentions photos.
