I would not worry. You have just taken and supplied the image. It is the buyer's responsibility as to how they use the image. Back in the pre -internet days we didn't stamp "editorial use only" over the back of prints when mailing them out to interested buyers. What is a bit more concerning to me, having just checked the site, is that all my editorial images state "yes" for both property and model release. Believe it or not, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (or any other celeb) have never signed a model release form for me. I'll check this one out with Yay and see what they say. Regards, David.

Signed up a year or so after they launched. Just over 190 commission to date. I average one or two sales per month so not the daily adrenalin rush you get from a subs site like Shutterstock. The difference is most of those sales are medium/high res sales that pay 4 and 6 commission (40%). That's equals quite a few sub sales. Selling for me are my archive political images (Tony Blair etc) and UK location shots (Hastings pier etc). Sold one of a Greek island last month but that was the first non UK image I'd sold there. Obviously, only my personal experience with them and cannot speak for anyone else. They are, and will continue to be, part of my upload workflow and those less frequent (but higher paying) than microstock sales add up. Regards, David.

Do images submitted for Editorial use to Shutterstock fall under the same payout structure as RF photos there?
Thanks,
Mat
Quick answer Mat -yes! And (in my personal experience) Editorial sells well at Shutterstock. Regards, David.

I like the UK photographers group. 14 of us joined and there's not a single comment. Can't get much more British than that I was going to break the silence by saying something about the weather but I thought better of it.
LOL! As one of that 14 I must admit I had totally forgotten about Microstock.me. Between actually taking photographs, uploading them, updating my own blog and spending way too much time here at MSG, I just don't know where the time would come from to be active there as well. Still, thanks for reminding me it exists. BTW it rained a bit today here in Hastings Regards, David.

The last few have all taken about three months to be posted (if I recall correctly) so I'm not expecting anything till the end of June. Any earlier will be a pleasant surprise! BTW I'm assuming that any API sales via Pixmac just show up right away as a regular sale? Regards, David.

Oh yes, I forgot about "Faved". I always add new images in the faved folder, and those images have most downloads. And from time to time, if I see that some image doesn't have enough downloads even it's placed in there, I exclude it from faved, and add a new one.
Can you still do that? Last time I looked I couldn't see anything to click on to remove a previous "fave". Maybe it moved or am I missing something? Regards, David.
Yes you can still do that. When on the my fave images page, make sure you click "My Fave Images" and not the "My Images" to remove favourite images, then go back to "my images" to add new ones.
Dohh! Thanks Komar, I was overlooking that small detail! Regards, David.

How about making a feature where the photographers may handpick photos from their own port to create their own personal slideshow? I know i would use such a feature.
Yes, that's a good idea Brage! I think we could make a standard page - and then you can make a project folder with the images you want to show. We should manage to develop such a feature within a couple of weeks!
Please also suggest any tips on how you all would like a page like this to work! I can't promise we'll make every feature, but we'll do our very best to make this a useful tool for you to show off your images!
And sorry for the late reply, we've been really busy preparing for the image congress CEPIC - but now we're back, and with lots of great deals, and inspiration!
Linda
Thanks Linda, that sounds good! I think most of us would like to select which images go in the slide show. Will it be possible to set it up so we can change the selection when we like (perhaps to keep it topical in the case of Editorial, or some might want a seasonal theme such as Christmas images)? Regards, David.

Had to laugh when I saw your post Warren because a couple of hours back I hit 999 at Shutterstock. You got the number of the beast and I got the telephone number of the (UK) emergency services! Any problems with the beast and I'll call the police for you. Regards, David.

Not a Partner as such but 123RF also sell through their parent site Inmagine.com. What's interesting is that Inmagine are now also selling editorial images from 123RF. This is pretty new I think as they weren't last time I looked (in fact their Contributor faq page still says that they do not take editorial). Could be one reason why I have had an increasing number of editorial sales at 123 recently. Regards, David.

Mine has just been added too. Bit less than previous quarters but not a huge difference. Still, it was enough to cross the payout limit so I've just requested that. Regards, David.

I've got mine in my account, but the result is nothing to write home about... It's about a quarter of what I received for my first quarter in the third party program in 2009 and about 50% down from the last payout.
No offence Dirkr, but are you sure that's the Third party sales and not just a regular sale? That happened to me last time when I got 5euro in my account just before the Third party ones were due -and I was dissapointed as well until I realised it was a (rather good) regular sale. Did you get an email from Jan saying your Third party sales have been posted? No one else is reporting anything yet. Regards, David. [/quote I did not receive any e-mail, but it wasn't a regular sale either. The money appeared (as the did last time) not under sales but under referral income. And as far as I know I do not have anyone referred to the site (at least it doesn't show that). So I assumed that it was the third party sales. It could be referral income, but then the information about having anybody as referral is either wrong or missing.
Thanks Dirkr, yes it does look that's the Third party sales then. They usually take a couple of days to work through everyone so I'll just have to be patient. Regards, David.

^^^ Spam alert. Someone trying to sell bedroom quilts!
Makes sense. Whenever I need a new quilt cover I always check out the offers on commercial photography forums first.

Mine are there as well. With 123rf number but it doesn't show author of image. Just "image by blank space"
Just checked some of mine there and all those I looked had my correct name as author. Anyone else checked theirs? Regards, David.

In case anyone hasn't noticed yet you can now find any rejections by going to Media Files then Overview. You have to go through your list of uploads to find them -they're not in a seperate section. There's also a brief rejection reason given. Useful in my case as 5 editorial files were rejected for "copyright", so I guess the editorial box became unticked somehow. Now I know that I can just re-upload them. Not had any problems since with about 300 uploads so far. And, yes, some of those were reviewed within a few minutes. Good work Cutcaster! Regards, David.

I didn't know Yay and few days ago started uploading images to Yay and... can't upload Wrote e-mail and even got answer-'technical problems on page, please try again' But after reading your posts about them, I decided not losing my time with them. There are to many people who can't be wrong saying, there are no DLs on Yay and there is no sense uploading...
I haven't had that many sales on the Yay site itself but their "third party" (re-seller) programme produces a chunk of royalties once a quarter. One payout so far and in line for another when the 4th quarter (for 2010) sales are posted in the next few weeks. It's one of the quickest and easiest sites to upload to and the batch editing feature is fast and easy. The little time I spend getting images on the site makes it worthwhile for me and, with time, I hope the direct sales build as well. And, yes, they are nice people to deal with. Regards, David.

Cool. Just requested a payout, was sitting between $30 and $50
Yes, same for me. Good news Scott -much appreciated. It's more motivating for me to see regular payouts. It would be good if more sites followed this. Regards, David.

Thanks Warren, yes I'm sure there is more to do and the new site is developing fast. Review times are now great (I can only speak for editorial on that). Like you, I have a lot of archive B/W images which I am hoping will do as well as yours seem to have done. I can't see any views either btw. Regards, David.

Really like the new look site and signed up just after the relaunch. Now that reviews are back in full swing (some approved within a couple of minutes last night!) I'm just curious to know if I am missing the Rejected Files section, or isn't there one yet? I had five files that were pending but never made it to approved (Shell petrol station and logos) so I am just assuming they were rejected. It would be good to know for sure and, ideally, with a reason given. By co-incidence three of those images sold on another site today (Shell is in the news because of their production in Libya). Regards, David.

By contrast, editorial submissions are flying through at the moment -usually within an hour or so and in one case, yesterday, under 5 minutes! I assume they use different reviewers for editorial. Regards, David.

Update: I'm assuming the editorial pics are being fast tracked over the 'normal' queue. I've got all my rejections in (for having date and title reversed) from the 2nd, but my 'main collection' files from the 1st are still pending.
Likewise, Sue, all mine from Feb 2nd reviewed today but older non-editorial files still waiting. Oh, and yes mine were all rejected! Somehow I had managed to miss that the caption info had to be in an exact format (as with SS and 123). The format is on their Editorial use forum BTW for anyone else who hasn't seen it. No problem now I know that -and all the images were invited for re-submission once the caption is sorted. Regards, David.
