Always been behind RF123 for me.....my most overperforming expectations site :o

On the contributor side I see my own account page, on the customer side I'm not seeing anything horrible.  This thing is that your perception of a high standard (or mine) is completely irrelevant - this is just product on a shelf and the commercial basis of adding to the collection is to produce sales that they probably wouldn't get otherwise.  If someone wants a picture for a web site, do you think they give a rats how good it looks at 30 MP full resolution as long as it suits the purpose?

I can see what you mean and it is true that my perception is not that relevant. I just think if I was a buyer I currently wouldn't be very impressed. Also I thought SS said they were looking to eat into the higher priced market and not all their sales are for web sites. As a contributor I am confused as to what it is they are looking for.

I just took a look at the front page for contributors. I don't want to disrespect other's work but if SS feel these images represent the best of the site no wonder we have problems with what they are looking for. I used to sign in there and think I hope one day I can come up with images that good.

Thanks,

Seems to confirm no impending doom but no great growth either and that I have plenty of room for improvement!

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia views climbing rapidly

They may have simply changed their counting method - meaningless stat inmho - I always get very few views on fotolia and sometimes 100s on dreamstime - guess where I sell the most?

Thanks will give it go but suspect IQ will still not be good enough other than for some of the more forgiving sites. Think it might be easier with a D810 - but not economically justified!

I was recently shooting inside a dark building with a Nikon D7000 where flash and tripod were prohibited would any of you artists out there like to suggest how I go about getting my fine compositions accepted for microstock and not rejected for noise or poor focus?

Thats the point we are talking about the tools needed for microstock - don't mistake that for the art of photography :o

123 has a habit of doing strange things I try to ignore it as (so far) it has got back to what passes as normal

I don't think anyone is actually saying that you are arguing against a straw man

It doesn't matter what I think my pictures are worth the market decides that. If I thought I was hugely talented like some people clearly think they are I wouldn't be selling on Microstock.

Get real any business will pay just enough to their suppliers to keep them contributing. It works for my circumstances thats why I do it.

Although it takes a special skill to to take  a photo without a camera - nothing wrong with wanting the best equipment.

... it's likely to get very tough for anybody hoping to rely on them for the next 10 years.

I would be surprised to see someone does...

Thats the beauty of being non-exclusive = reduced risk. Anyone relying on any agency for more than one to two years is being optimistic. Despite the various prophecies of doom no one knows where the industry will be in five years ten years is an age in web based industry history.

I hope the long waiting times are not a sign of cash flow problems paying reviewers. Always kinda liked DT but they are trending down for me despite the flurry of $2 sales last month.

Its Easter holiday time folks DONT PANIC!!!!

4347
I stand corrected! But I still think that not being fully up to speed on what is a fairly specialised, and rather uninteresting technique doesn't mean you know nothing about photography

4348
I wonder if Ansel Adams knew much about doing isolations?

4349
Its been a while but when I was using models they refused to use anything that mentioned another agency

General Stock Discussion / Re: Studio Space?
« on: March 26, 2015, 02:28 »
Certainly in the UK its not hard to find studios with good lighting etc. from about 30 an hour. If you do some calculations unless you are doing LOTS of shoots you might find this quite economical.
