Many ppl are fascinated with this movie, though I can't really see why. It's good, but not that good.

Another similar drama, though this one is happening in a single room for the whole time. Great dialogues and acting, Tommy Lee Jones surprised me. IMO it's better than the man from earth http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1510938/

I like it I think because it is sort of a verbal chess game. Sci-fi without special effects. Kind of like a Sci-fi story around a campfire. Simplistic but intriguing. I think thats what kept me interested the whole time.. then there is the ending.

Here is a 2009 movie I caught on netflix. Very thought provoking I thought.

The Man from Earth: An impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he is an immortal who has walked the earth for 14,000 years.

They have a one-size template that you design to, plus they also require a copy of the original art (either the original photo or the business card...take your pick) for times when a buyer wants business cards and the art file for other uses (you get paid $25 for those sales).

Once a file is uploaded, you choose which of their zillion text designs best fits your business card.  The text design can later be customized by the customer.

Is that requirement something new? I know I had to upload the image to place it in the business card, but I never had my images for sale by themselves and I did that on purpose and for a reason.

Yea, it became required for a couple weeks now I think. From the new Administrator.

I am hoping for this one. Got the Email about someone wanting to buy the rights to one image. A SR-EL. That would be a really nice bump in earnings...lol.

My sales are up pretty nicely. I just don't keep percentages. I know the number of d/l's and some of those are on demands too.

Hopefully get my lower back fixed to some point to get back to work. Close to 2 years of chasing this down is more than enough for me. Since my daughter has been able to walk.. and now run around, I would love to be able to play with her properly come Spring.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy Lowers Payout Threshold
« on: December 19, 2011, 11:00 »
I did not notice the lowered threshold until last night when I was crawling through the Alamy forums. We moved and did not have internet for a few weeks.

If this last sale (end of nov.) clears this month then it gets me a payout next month.  ;D

Hmmm, what to do? Throw my hands up and give up... or go on the hunt for a blind rich person?  ::)

I am not sure where the Expo is located but I will recommend one fun thing. Go to the TV Tower in the evening for dinner as it is getting dark. There is a rotating restaurant up there. It looks so cool seeing the streets leading towards it.

Here is the tower on the right.

There was sooo much to see there when I was stationed there. You cannot see it all in a weekend or a week. I envy all of you who can go. Enjoy!

Software - General / Corel Paintshop Pro X4
« on: October 19, 2011, 11:58 »
I have been looking for something different than Adobe Products to work on my images. I think I finally found one software that satisfies me on that. I have Paintshop Pro X4 and so far I am liking it. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now. My only problem with it so far is that I have use photoshop for years so I am used to where things are and how they are named. Those little things make it a little difficult to work until you learn. It does not have all the support of plugins that Photoshop has but I have not found those that necessary. The best thing is that X4 is only $99.   ;D

Now I am off to go look up tricks and tips for it.

Check it out for yourself

Editorial opens up a whole new world to your stock shooting. I had to break myself of the microstock eye and worrying about "Can I upload this?" type thinking. Then I had to research and learn about what type of shots are used. There is the forum and they have threads like "Have you found any images (name the month)". Thats where you can get an idea to start off on what you might want to shoot.

It's been worth it for me uploading there.

With those of you selling on your own sites, are you doing any backlinking for your sites? Link Wheels, Buffer Sites, Scrapebox blasting and such?

OK. I have to admit that I had to look most of these terms up. I guess my jargon isn't up to date. I have links to my site from various sources and sites. I'm not sure if that counts.

Links from other sites that point back to your site are back links. The last set I mention work to help move your site up in the search rankings.

Buffer sites are like squidoo pages that you make and point them to your site, then you backlink the crap out of them (I use scrapebox for that). They are a buffer to your main site because if you build links too quickly, google will drop your ranking or even deindex it from their search engine. But any power they build gets sort of passed on to your main site. Link Wheels are many buffer sites that point to your main site... or even other buffer sites.

The ranking game is a weird and constantly changing one with google. If your move up like page 1 or 2 for whatever keywords your shooting for (I.E. Stock Photography, Stock Photos), it helps in getting eyes on your site.

Edit: See that signature of mine? I also have that listed in my profile here too. Do that. It does show as a back link from a Google Page Rank (PR) 4 site (MSG).
