Add me to the list of very satisfied P5 contributors. Been with 'em for years. Started out with video, added photos as soon as they started accepting 'em. I find the site very easy to navigate, especially compared to other sites like FT, DT, and even SS. Select from the list, choose the action from the pull-down, and boom. Done. I do look forward to using the image template function to make the process even more streamlined, and yes, I could wish for faster review times and more sales, but overall I'm a happy camper.

You're right about the artist's share of the sale being so low that in most cases, it's just not workable if you're trying to make a living. The reason I'm not selling on my own site is because it takes a lot of time and a herculean effort to design and create the site, but the biggest obstacle to me is the marketing that would be required. I don't want to compete with the large, established sites. It would be like opening a convenience store and trying to compete with Wal-Mart. If I had a specialty niche, it might be different.
Because we are finding ourselves in a race to the bottom, I'm moving away from microstock / RF in favor of RM exclusive.

I'm using Windows XP and IE8. When I click the "select all" button, an error message appears in the lower right corner that says, "error on page." When I press the multiselect button, all of the images just disappear. Screen shot:

The multiselect function doesn't work for me (using the latest version of IE). I need to be able to assign categories and location data to several photos at the same time in order to manage my time wisely and efficiently.

Thanks for posting this information. I'm now able to find enough tearsheets to keep me busy for months!

I'm with Sharpshot. If a higher commission and lower rejection rate means longer review times, so be it.

I've been selling on P5 for years and never had a problem with MR's. If you'll describe your problem here, I might be able to help.

I've grown weary of seeing XL sales for less than 50 cents, so I've decided to go RM at Alamy. It was really refreshing to upload my last batch to one site and be done with it, versus uploading to multiple RF micro sites. Too soon to tell whether or not I made the right decision.

A pinhole camera in the hands of an artist can produce wondrous material. Conversely, the most expensive camera on the market in the hands of a hack will produce nothing but shapshots. And anyone who would say to a photogapher, "Your camera takes great pictures," would say to a chef, "Your pots and pans make really great meals." Stupidity abounds.

I'm pricing my material at $15 on Pond5. I've only had a couple of sales, but I think it may be due to the fact that photos are such a recent addition to the Pond5 lineup. I'm leaning heavily toward macro and rights-managed, and away from micro and royalty-free. Last month, I made almost as much on Alamy with two sales as I did on SS with 82 sales! And that was all royalty-free on both sites! It also includes a couple of twenty-dollar video sales on SS. I'm so sick and tired of seeing my work sell XL for 21 cents on Fotolia and 36 cents on SS. I recently uploaded a batch to Alamy as RM, and it was so refreshing to upload it to a single web site and be done with it. If the sales volume could make up for the lower price, it might be viable, but that hasn't been my experience.

I checked it early this morning, and it was still MIA. A couple of hours later, it was back. One has to wonder about the accuracy of the system.

I saw a sale listed at 123RF yesterday, and it disappeared a couple of hours later. Still no notice of a cancellation or refund. Is anyone having a problem with disappearing sales?

I'm in Orlando, and I have footage available on Pond5, CanStockPhoto, and IS. Nothing recent, though, because I've been concentrating on stills lately.

They must be using the same fuzzy math that homo depot is using...

If it were me, I'd create a number with a 555 area code and see what happens.

I'll be the first to admit that the idea of RM becomes more and more attractive each time I see a royalty of 30 cents for an XL sale. I'm familiar with how RM works, but only with a cursory knowledge. After the rights have been exhausted for a particular photograph - then what? I'd be very interested in knowing more about your personal experience with RF versus RM.

I can log in with my FTP software program, but when it tries to upload, I get an error message from the server that says, "Forbidden command argument."

If it were me, I'd ignore 'em, keep the money as a "Christmas bonus," and let 'em create a negative balance in my account or whatever they're gonna do.

My SS sales this month aren't even half of what they were last month.

I'm having many of the same issues, plus issues with the "bins." I can edit bins and see the clips contained in them, but when I try to view them as a customer would, the bin count indicates the correct number of photos or video clips, but only a few of them show, and sometimes none of them show at all. I notified support, and they said they fixed the problem, but I'm still seeing it.
Over the years, the folks at P5 have treated me well, and the site has performed admirably, both in terms of functionality and sales. I suspect that they've recently hired a bunch of third-world programmers who are willing to work for peanuts, and they're proving once again that you get what you pay for (if indeed this is the case). Nevertheless, because of my track record with them, I'm willing to be patient.

It took me eight submissions, two of which consisted entirely of images that had been approved in previous submissions. Some consisted of images that sold multiple times on other sites. And if memory serves me correctly, the images that were rejected in my initial submissions were subsequently approved for sale on the site, and they have since generated sales. It is indeed a moving target, but well worth the effort.

It does smell like a scam. I think if it were me, I'd contact support at 123RF and ask if it's legit.

A significantly slow month for me at SS so far. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same. I'll be putting my sets together later today.

If cutting our commissions means more sales and more money in our pocket, I think we should just cut to the chase and cut 'em all the way down to zero so we can get rich!

I like it, so I'm taking full advantage of it. I hope it turns out to be productive. I work with several models, so I've created a gallery for each one, in case a potential buyer comes across one in a search and wants to see more of a particular model. I've created other galleries as appropriate. http://www.shutterstock.com/gallery-130012/artist-picks?page=1
