Shutterstock.com / Re: Feeding the beast
« on: August 20, 2010, 02:35 »
I keep looking for someone to put a number on "feeding the beast."  Is it 5, 10, 20 per week?  Or, would it be more like a percentage of your port?

PS:  I've had consecutive really bad days.  Starting to worry about making a payout?  Anyone care to console me?   :P

For me it varies from none to around 10 a week.  I hadn't given them much in the past too weeks due to being really busy with other stuff.  I finally uploaded a few days ago saw a few sales.  Sales for me didn't start to drop off until this week.  Picked up yesterday and my new stuff hadn't been accepted yet.  My port is still under 400 so I don't get many dl's compared to others that have twice the port.  I consider a good day 10-15.  I would like more but I have to put the work into doing things that buyers will want (which I still have no idea on any given day what that could possibly be) and stuff that stands out from everybody else.  Still struggling with both of those but I give you this...Shutterstock is the ONLY site I've ever reached payout on.  Yeah .25 isn't much but it adds up.

Bigstock.com / Re: BigStock down for how long?
« on: August 20, 2010, 02:26 »
Dunno but it woulda been nice to get an email to say what was going on and approximately how long it was going to last.

Incidentally I was gonna ask about the same thing.  Wonder what these "changes" are going to involve.

any idea how long the approval process takes?

I've been waiting since June 3rd if that gives you any indication.  If I ever get in/rejected or whatever else you can possibly do this'll be the last stock site I submit to.  I have 10 I already submit to and this one (possibly) would be 11.

I just want the wait to be over with.

« on: August 18, 2010, 16:35 »
I just wish that I could sell as many images at DT as I do everywhere else.  At this rate it's going to take me another year to reach my first payout.  Although the submitted large jpgs get processed a heck of a lot faster now than it used to.  Not even an hour.  Best day I had there was I believe 5 dls.  Finally got an image to level 2 yesterday which was nice.  Just wish sales were better.

GLStock / Re: Is Graphic Leftovers accepting photos now?
« on: August 13, 2010, 17:40 »
Just started with them, until now 420 files approved. No sales until now but since it's been just a few days anything else would have surprised me.
Easy upload, though some of my uploads seem to end up nowhere (the numbers I uploaded simply don't match approved + rejected + pending). I don't have anything needing an MR though.

I started because I read some positive opinions here on MSG, so let's hope for some sales.

Click on the unfinished file link and see if they're in there.  I've had a few get stuck in there for whatever reason.  Might need some finishing work on those files before submission.

*giggles*

Nice to know I've been a member there since January 1, 1970.  Which is odd since I wasn't born till Feburary 1972 ;)

All of mind are from FT none from DT.  Have had no sales through the site at all.

I'll usually blurt out "What the *bleep* ever" and move on to the next image I want to create.  I deal with 8 agencies right now.  They all get mostly the same stuff they take them great they don't...oh well.  I don't believe I've ever had one image rejected across the board on all sites.

Try to do your best that's all you can do.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Who has had sales at Graphic Leftovers?
« on: August 11, 2010, 09:16 »
Made a sale there the other day of a vector that hadn't sold anywhere else so I'm pleasently happy.  This is my BME on there so far as I've gotten 2 sales within 8 days of each other so I'm happy.

I also have 5 images in there as well but haven't seen my stuff on the front page.  That'd be a nice surprise to see that :)

New Sites - General / Re: The 3D Studio - anyway selling there?
« on: August 04, 2010, 02:51 »
119 products over 12,000 views and no sales.  I'm not uploading my entire port just my photos and certain large raster files because files that I have say like web buttons I'd rather sell as vector and not jpg.  And until that changes I'm not uploading those.

*sigh*

This site, Cutcaster (I pulled my port down) and Big Stock are the only ones I haven't had a sale on...yet.  We'll see.  Maybe I need to start doing 3d as well but it's just a * high learning curve esp. when you're doing it on your own.

Still waiting.  Wonder if my app got lost in the cracks somehow  :'(  I hope it's soon for approval/reject.  I just hate feeling like a small fish.

861
What kind of backgrounds are you talking about?  Most of my stuff is abstract.  Or are you just talking straight photographs and not vectors?

I tried doing that last year for a Peter Frampton Concert here in town.  They wouldn't like me do it even after I got all of the information needed for that form which was not friggen easy to get.  I guess they don't want to take a chance on a vector artist with less than 20 actual photos in their port none of which have people in them.  I know how to use my camera so I don't know what the big deal is.  It's not like I just want to get into an event for free I'd be there to do a job and that's it.

*sigh*

Guess I'm just gonna have to figure out how to do this on my own as SS don't want me  :'(

Still waiting hope that the wait won't be too much longer.

Veer / Re: New exotic rejection for vectors

You should normally unlock everything before submitting as an eps.  Not sure what problem it would have for the customer coz can't they unlock it?  Just probably a general rule of thumb not to lock layers or hide layers.

123RF / Re: massive rejections (IN or leaving...)
« on: June 18, 2010, 17:52 »
I requested to close my account at least a month ago but haven't heard anything back after I did all what was asked of me and emailed them back stating I had done everything that was asked of me.  Just shot off another email to support about the fact that I want my account gone.

Just irritating.

leaving because of the sales or the late rejections?.. they used to be very fair on reviews and always very nice by email..

Lack of sales is why I'm leaving and now left as they finally deleted my account.  They took everything and I mean EVERYTHING I threw at them last year.  I only started doing photos this year and a few were rejected.  I gave them a year.  I've got 4 other sites that I started new on this year and they'll get the same treatment.  As long as there are consistent sales I'll stay.  123 last year was 1 sale a month and not worth me keeping my port there.  I also deleted my images at Cutcaster but leaving my account there for the time being.

Well I was never a member of StockXpert but I'm gonna give SF a try.  Working on uploading the initial 5 images for review (and why it's taking so long for my comp and isp to do that I don't know).

We'll see what happens.

868
Either mine haven't hit the search yet or got buried really quickly.  Only 1 sale of 17 new images.  Everything else have been older files selling.  I'm hoping for a turn around tomorrow.

869
May is my BME.  My best now is 27 dl's and I've already gone over 100 dl's for this month with my record being 66 in a month.  I'm hoping to make enough to make my 2nd payout from there next month got my first this month.

123RF / Re: Slow approvals this week?
« on: May 02, 2010, 18:46 »
I went back and uploaded 9 images and they've been pending since April 21 & 23.  Could someone from the site let us know what's going on?

Dreamstime.com / Re: Is Dreamstime dying?
« on: April 30, 2010, 03:49 »
Finally squeaked out 1 download this month and probably the only one I'll get.  They accept most of the vectors/photos that I upload so that's not too much different than before.  It's just taking me forever to reach 100 images on that site because of the few rejects per batch.  Not sure if it all boils down to keywording and what people are actually after at any given time or possibly both.

I'll still continue to upload there just wish it were easier and review times weren't so long and pretty well much everything I said in my last post.

« on: April 27, 2010, 02:58 »
I saw a post on Twitter stating that they were going to go down for maintainance.  A mass email probably would've been better regarding the down time as not everyone is on facebook/twitter.

DepositPhotos / Re: Who has had sales at DepositPhotos?

I finally got my first sale this past week.  A sub sale with less than 100 images online.  Hope more is down the road :)

874
The winner will have to pay their own air fare as that's not included in the prize package.  States on there somewhere that the $2000 could be used towards that.  Yeah you get free accomodations but the plane tickets there and back will probably wipe out that $2000.

For me April has been absolutely dreadful.  I get plenty of views but no downloads this month at all.  I wish the review times were better 150+ hours is obnoxious and eps files should be reviewed at the same time the jpgs are like everywhere else I'm at.  I wish things would turn around there really.  I hate being like this but that's how I feel.
