Hi Anita,
We've been adding stock photos for a few months now, and they are starting to sell. They aren't as popular as our vector illustrations which is the niche we started with, but since we have more design related photos (without people in them), people are starting to notice that and come to us for that too
Okay. All I'm doing right now is shooting objects and whatnot. I shall start uploading those then

Hi Anita,
We've been adding so many images lately that our uploader has been getting stuck and I've had to un-jam it a few times It should be good now and there shouldn't be as much of a delay as you saw before. Thanks for being patient!
Thanks danoph. no worries I'm happy with it. Sounds like ya'all are getting a lot new contributers and a ton of uploads Oh! While your here (I know this is another thread and I'm lazy today) I noticed you've started adding stock photos to the site. Have photos been selling or is it too soon to tell? Thanks

They've ended up in approved except for 1 that needed to be finished. I just haven't gotten used to doing the keywording, titles and descriptions before I submit which I've started but usually I had them end up in unfinished. So I freaked out over nothing so now I know that it is normal behavior for that site so next time I upload I'll just sit and wait for them to show up either approved or rejected. Thanks guys

I know it's not instantaneous. I uploaded 11 pm last night and checked them this morning and showed up nowhere in pending or approved. I think there might be a glitch in there system so I tried uploading again this afternoon and will check again this evening. If they don't appear anywhere then I'll contact support. This is just very frustrating.

I uploaded my latest batch last night around 11pm and was hoping that they'd show up in pending/unfinished by this morning. They didn't. Live help is offline so I re-uploaded them.
Anyone else experiencing the same?

I've been trying to get 10 vectors produced in a week before uploading. Most of what I've been doing has been rather simple and will be getting into more complex starting real soon. I finished one today that took me 3 days to do but it's not complex at all just time consuming with lining things up properly. My 10 probably won't happen this week working on building skills in the areas I need to improve on (i.e. pen tool, gradient mesh tool) and learning to use Blender. It depends on the artist and how well you know your vector software which I'm still learning to use.

I got a sale this past weekend on GL not much but I'm happy. Now if I could just get Cutcaster going and the3dstudio (and on that one need to figure out blender and make them some 3d images which could help with getting going on that site Very easy to upload to once I asked for an ftp account heh!

In a queue of 10 images with 114h reviewtime there is one in the middle with "Image under review". Thats weird !!
And no exclusive box was ticked by mistake...
I had that happen with my last two batches that I uploaded. The top one always got to under review then, depending on the day of the week, have been approved while the rest sit and wait. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this. It's weird but nice when it's accepted

All of mine are in folders marked eps, large jpg, small jpg and the like. I also sort by month. My stuff stays outside of the target folders until I upload once that's all done at the 8 sites I'm on I move my images into their respective folders and I get on with doing more. I upload once a week and basically 10 images so it's relatively easy for me to keep track. I don't worry too much about the accepted/rejected stuff anymore what get's accepted into my port is more important than the rejected ones.

Yep I've come to grips with my limitations although I don't like it, it's there anyway. That mountain analogy is really how I feel especially the early climb. I'm still trying to figure out what sells, what doesn't and what buyers are really after. I don't even know if there's a proper way to study that effectively aside from what I do that sells/don't sell. I could look at the top images on the sites but I don't know how I could work that to my advantage or do something similar and make it better cept for me that feels like cheating.
I know I'm still learning and that will never stop.

For me in the microstock industry it's been an uphill battle. I've been wondering to myself all week what do buyers want? I apparently haven't hit on the right thing yet. I'm still a relative newbie with a small port and being offline for 8 months when the computer had a coronary didn't help either. I started with my first site back in April/May 2009 but have only really been doing this for maybe 4 months due to the computer problem. I myself am not looking to get rich with this just enough to pay our internet bill every month would make me happy. I do vectors only at the moment and am still learning Illustrator but I've been consistently creating an average of about 10 new images per week (it probably would be more if I wasn't running our business at the same time while the bf works his full time job . You definitely have to stay focused on what you're doing. I too have a list of images in a notebook that I'd like to create (it stands right now with a list of 58) and have been trying to stick too it although I'll get distracted and make other things that aren't on my list. I do hear from a lot of people that your port should be varied and cover a wide range of subjects but I also hear from others that if you find something that sells well, stick with that. So who really knows which is right...my guess probably both. I also believe that your only competition is really just with yourself. I fight with my inner me all the time going "Man! My stuff must suck badly because it's not selling at all" as well as..."Man! Why can't I create something like that! I must suck at this royally!" And I'm probably not the only one that this happens to either. I have sales at all but 1 of the agencies that I belong to and hope that this year I can actually build a decent port and make payout. That would be nice And I realize that I don't think my post has a point but I felt the need to say something even if it was nothing at all

I can never find my stuff being used anywhere. I wonder if I'm searching wrong because all I see are my images on the stock sites. I wonder if I'm searching wrong on google. I've tried my full name "Anita Potter" and my username in quotes and I don't get anything. Is there another way of searching or is that it? I also haven't had any el's so none of my stuff would be in print.
Thanks.

Definitely if you have 3d renders go to http://www.the3dstudio.com also Graphic Leftovers http://www.graphicleftovers.com is good too but email support and ask for an ftp account as contributors have had problems with the html upload system (I found this out the hard way). I'm currently apart of SS, DT, FT, GL, 3d, Cutcaster and deposit photos. I'm part of another one but am going to drop them as they rejected almost half of my portfolio esp the ones that sell well on the other sites. Good luck with what you decide to go with. Anita

The only 2 downloads in march so far are new images that I uploaded a week or 2 ago. Not sure what to tell you on that except each experience is different. I haven't had an old download on there since January but we'll see if that changes.

Nope no sales yet hopefully it'll happen sooner than later. Congrats to those that have gotten sales.

I deleted all of my images off of there. One sale per month isn't worth it. If I ever get the photography thing figured out I might upload there again. I guess they just don't like vectors all that much. I could also say that about fotolia and dreamstime but the sales are worth more than an 123rf.

12 of my images are exclusive there but so far no sales yet. Just wonder what I'm missing to get in on the sales.
I don't know the answer, Anita, but I think linking a lightbox to all the search engines with keywords included has helped bring buyers to my portfolio. There is a blog article on Cutcaster explaining how to create these links.
I'll look into that tonight to see if it'll help. Thanks

You only have the full daily upload quota is your approval rate is 80% or over. If not, you will have 1/5-th of those quota = 10.
Ah yeah said it's at 69.1% probably going off the last time I uploaded which was back in June and had some rejections. I just wish their review process was a wee bit quicker. 90+ hours everytime I do manage to upload is getting annoying. It didn't used to be that long. I think I'll wait until I get 10 done before I upload again. Thanks.

I uploaded for the first time there last week in 8 months. My upload limit was at 50. I upload again today and I can only upload 10??? Sounds like the have a database issue with all the things everyone's reporting. Got on there with my phone earlier and the front page is messed up and it usually looks normal on my phone. Wonder what's up.

I was upset last year because iStock wouldn't accept my vectors. Now I'm thinking that's a good thing they didn't. Looks like a slap in the face to everyone that works hard to create their photographs/illustrations. Am I understanding it right that if you opt in for thinkstock that all images no matter the size is all .25? If so that's just wrong.

Yeah I'm not going exclusive anywhere. I'm just tired of not making much of anything over there. $2.16 since may 2009 not good. I'd rather spend my time uploading to the other sites I'm on. I'll have to wait until next week to take care of it. It's a little too hard to try to do this on my phone. Thanks

I want to delete my account over there but can't find a link to do that. The faq doesn't even let you know how to do that either? Am I just supposed to email support and ask?
Any help is appreciated.
