Shutterstock.com / Re: Relevant search option on SS
« on: June 30, 2011, 09:29 »
I've had a major drop in overall sales since Tuesday this week when they implemented the new search option. Re: I have the number one position for the keyword "emergency" that netted at least 4 or 8 d/ls a day and now have had only 2 in three days...all outside the US. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

They have added an update saying "sorting is temporarily disabled..."

I'm not sure if this is related, but I noticed over the weekend some issues on the website related to earnings.  My earnings kept going up, but the photos weren't showing up on the last downloaded page.  Still not sure where the money was coming from.

Yes. I've had the same experience over the weekend. It's particularly noticeable immediately after cashing out. The Account Balance jumps up by a few $'s but then there aren't new sales of that value to explain it.

FYI, You may want to check your "Partner" preferences...that's what I received this week-end and they don't show up in your "last download" page. They're paid at .28 cents each....and appear about this time of the each month.

The increase wasn't from partner sales...mine had already been added for the entire month prior to the weekend.  That's why I noticed it.  There's always the possibility, I guess, that they missed a few and added them one at a time on separate occasions during the weekend, but that seems unlikely.

Unlikely as it may seem, I received some on Friday and most on Saturday...

I've had 1 or 2 sales since the first of the year and then on 5/2 I got a $3.50 a $5.00 and a $35.00 all for the same image...strange but sweet

Well here we are seven days later and nothing yet...not even an email. I'm a Data Security Administrator in an IT department, if we treated our users this way someone would have been fired by now! The sad part of this is that it's a re-occurring issue...

FYI...Starting tonight at 8pm ET on the Weather channel Peter Lik will be featured and should be an interesting series of photo shoots.

You won't have to check the site after the first time. Sales will continue to show once you see a number after their icon. You won't have to visit their site but one time.

I found that if I first open 123rf web site and then refresh the pic bar, it will populate 123rf correctly and whenever a sale is made after that it shows correctly. You don't need to leave their site open after it shows your sales numbers. If I close ff I have to re-open 123rf again. Hope that helps...and makes sense...

Shutterstock.com / Re: shutterstock rejecting everything,Why?
« on: March 22, 2011, 22:00 »
I need to add something here...  Anyone notice that the rejections at SS are almost always approved at Bigstock? At least that's my case. I'm not sure I like the auto-migration program from SS to BS if the rejections continue. I'm sure that will change too.

I've been submitting just a few images a week with all the rejects at SS and they get reject as well...really frustrating. (Accepted by all the others of course). As far as SS removing the older stuff, this is very unlikely to happen. They commercialize the fact that they have over 15 million (?) images to sell. In this game more is better for them.

I chose not to delete my older images. I had an image sell 3 times this past week that hasn't sold in over 2 years. I guess it moved up a little after the first sale...so you really never know what will be needed in the future.

I've had 43 images there for about 3 or 4 years. I stopped uploading when they were having FTP issues years ago and I never went back...I sold 3 images in 3 years for a whopping $2.10. Does that tell you anything?

General Stock Discussion / Re: 1099 Corrections?
« on: February 28, 2011, 17:09 »
I don't think the IRS will deal with them too kindly if these errors continue. The agencies have to submit their copies to the IRS along with the corrections...could be interesting.

I've gone ahead and filed..we'll see what happens if more errors appear.

General Stock Discussion / 1099 Corrections?
« on: February 28, 2011, 16:31 »
I've received two 1099 corrections from one agency and one from another. I sure wish these guys would get it together. I was just about to submit my taxes over the week-end when I received two of the corrections via snail mail. If I had already submitted them I would have to submit an amended form..this is just crazy. Anyone else get corrections or is it just my luck?

I apologize to the OP for steering in the wrong direction. This thread is about Canstock and not IS. There's enough stuff on IS!!

(One final here...Lisa, I never even thought about that and need to make some changes...thanks...jp)

I don't know what's happening at the "Can" but my sales have been really really good this month. Far better than IS.

Oh, and from the "what it's worth...department, I'm making more from IS's partner sales then from IS main sales....kinda sad after 6 years with them that it has come to this...

fyi, I can see your 7 images...if you still don't see them, go to your portfolio and change the view to "newest first" and you should see them.

« on: February 21, 2011, 09:56 »
Thanks for the reply...you should state this in you faq's to better understand this. In other words you're saying that a payout is not eligible unless the minimum is reached by the 1st of the month....is that correct?

"No request is necessary. If you are eligible, we will pay you according to the payment method you have selected in your profile. Payments should reach you by the 17th of the month for Paypal and MoneyBookers. For photographers who have opted to receive payments via check, please allow up to a month for the check to reach you. "

Thanks

Per their faq's:

"No request is necessary. If you are eligible, we will pay you according to the payment method you have selected in your profile. Payments should reach you by the 17th of the month for Paypal and MoneyBookers. For photographers who have opted to receive payments via check, please allow up to a month for the check to reach you. FYI, the 17th came and went...no payout yet.
