I wonder if it's likely the reason they haven't set the targets yet is because they are about to shaft us again with some other, major change (such as a flat 15% for non-exclusives and 25% for exclusives)? I know I'm not the first to suggest this, but the longer we go without targets, the higher the probability seems to be that something's cooking.  >:(

I would not be a bit surprised.  That would pretty much kill Istock for me.  Sales are down, down, down anyway.  If I make much less there, it won't be worth continuing to upload.

I would be very suprised!  such a move and I doubt they will have any exclusives left.  I am quite sure most indys would quit uploading as well.

5.5M out of 120M sounds EXTREMLY high, can you point me in the right direction ?
Not that it matters though, since credit card fees is in EXPENSE just like any other expense, and has nothing to do with actual percentage paid to the contributors.
The %% you get at IS comes from the GROSS income, not the "net income" so if one wants to comapre percentage rates one must first level the playing field!
Also, add to the fact that if that if that is what SS pays, one can only assume that SS's competition pays more or less the same ammounts.

128
^^ the whole idea of the subscription model is based on the fact that everyone (on average) has "unused credit" and lots of it!
if everybody used their credit SS would be out of bussiness whitin a few months.

Credit card transaction fees for a bussiness this size could be well below 0.5%

there is no such term as "net revenue".  there is revenue and expenses.

(total payout to contributors)/(gross revenue) would give you the average payout percentage
do the same but include ONLY subscription revenue and payout and you will get a figure that can be considerd a "minimum" and in my opinion is much less then 20%

129
Scott, can you please explain the term "net revenue" and is it any different then "gross revenue" ?
When you say "generally in the range of 25%-30%" does this mean that it does go down to sub 20% ?

^^^ LOL
good one :)

Sounds more like wishfull thinking, not a rumor.
A high MP FF is more likely.

Why not use IPTC ?

What info are you looking for exactly ? We where always exclusive more or less so it is hard to compare, but like most things in life it does have it's advantages and disadvantages.

A very bad month for us.  Worst month in over a year!
2 EL's
1,640$ with 310 downloads
I do hope this month is an anomaly.

The whole month is a complete catastrophe.

You saying that, as the biggest IS cheerleader MSG has ever had (besides SNP, but she's gone now anyway), it really makes me think even more about exclusivity, I mean in terms is it really worth it since sales and earnings easily get so volatile :-\

I do have some wishfull thinking that this is the known "summer slowdown" in effect, but yes, earnings are down 38% (adjusted to portfolio size) this month from my previous BME (03/12).

Another bad month for us :(
2,070$ as IS exclusives at 35% with another ~50$ expected from the PP.
Down 16% from last month and up 31% from last year.

^^ Which means the vast majority have never and will never reach pay-out !
IS is making millions out of interest alone...

Great tool, thanks a lot !
How often does it does index itself ?

144
We have been exclusive for years, and even before we where officially exclusive we only uploaded to IS so I can't really compare.

145
It might just turn out to be a wise decision.
What do you think your percentage rate would be after going exclusive ?

146
May was really good..

IS/SS used to be 50/50, now it's 15/85

It's amazing, I really LOVE Shutterstock, but I would rather that my royalty income was more evenly distributed between the 20+ agencies I submit to..
Because I can't trust agencies, I have learned that over the past years..
Ever since I started in 2008 Shutterstock haven't cut commissions even once.. And I have always been like, "why the h e ll not"..
WHAT is keeping Shutterstock from cutting commissions? I don't get it..
More than 50% of my income comes from Shutterstock.. Surely they are in a position to cut commissions. So why haven't they ever done so since 2008 when I started ?
Surely they could if they wanted to..

Have patience lad, the IPO is just around the corner.

147
A so-so month for us.
Over 2,400$ with 430 downloads.
Up 35% from last month (which was horrible).
Up 82% from 05/11

Over 4K images in our portfolio (IS exclusive)

148
We use the Epson V700 and the results are very good.
