Be interested to know what you settle for?

Thanks I should know better ;)

Blimey! Any thoughts on how long this might take to reach the market as a consumer product? 5-10 years is my uneducated guess?

Me too thought I had become a master photographer overnight!!! They did say they would be loosening up - I suspect they may have gone too far and the pendulum may swing back a bit.

Ofcourse it forces people into buying! very few have probably got the time to flick through tons of pages until they finally arrive at what they really wanted. Thats the art of it.

So how do you know its YOUR images that people want - if images are very similar to others its just the luck of the draw isn't it?

No algorithm forces people to buy images people dont want

H'mm progress we've gone from today to 6-12 months now 3 years - 3 years is a heck of a long time in the digital world!

Are you on other sites? - that spreads the risk.

"unfortunately, this is the trend also in many other digital markets, in music for instance they dont even discuss anymore about prices being too low to make a living, they take for granted you can NOT make a living with it !"

The market is quite different - you don't pay more for "premium" content its often less. The music biz now seems to make more from live music I'm not sure there is a photographic equivalent. Some female singer whose name escapes me has just shifted more albums  than the Beatles so doesn't sound that bad!

So the end is in 12 months or so rather than tomorrow? Meanwhile it seems that many sites are growing - though I would expect some consolidation - theres a lot of mediocre sites out there with no USP.

"if microstock was on Nasdaq it would lose 90% of its value in a day !"

Lets see what happens to Shutterstock shares on Monday. If you are that confident you could short sell and make $$$$$$s somehow I suspect you wont be doing that

"SS took it so I am not really worried about CanStockPhoto" is the correct answer I think time spent worrying about rejections is time wasted.

Sounds like its a replacement for their earlier one about being "too snapshotish" Rejections seem to have gone up lately at Canstock

Actually they seem to be sitting on a big pile of cash. Wouldn't be surprised to see an acquisition or two.

Although of course we would all like a bigger slice of the pie a growing company is good news, I guess we don't know if this at the expense of others or growth of the pie. The poll results seem inconclusive

4695
So why ask for an opinion?

Big players like Crestock and Fotolia (who have been doing for ages...... allegedly)?

I'm "building" too I try and take the long view a WME somewhere is usually compensated elsewhere! I stock is picking up for me so who knows?

Wheras I'm having a shocker this month on Shutterstock - shows that one person's one month figures are not very meaningful statistically. Still time for that "lottery" though!
