I have had some nice sales there.  My sales are increasing.

Adobe Stock / Suddenly cannot log into Fotolia side
« on: November 19, 2017, 12:35 »
I prefer to upload via Fotolia side.
Today I am having to log into every website everywhere, I assume because of a browser update.
Using old links to indexing page on Fotolia, it still takes me to this Adobe pop up.  Grr.  Thee seems to be no way to get signed into the Fotolia side.  If anyone has ideas, I woyld appreciate it.  I prefer the Fotolia interface.

I can see I have had new sales from the map but my balance is now showing as 0 which it is not at all.

Might also be towns where they are selling images.  Recently I have had sales there for one of the towns.

I never know whether or not to keyword place or not, esp. if the scene or landscape is more generic.

But probably not going to some of the other towns just to do stock photos esp. if it means driving through big city and lots of traffic to get over to them.

Mine are all truncated so stopped uploading til it is fixed

No thanks.  Definitely not for price I would get paid per image!
I think they want to use us to drive our customers to them.  The only way I justify their low prices to myself is to say that they have the customers and I am not spending time/money on PR-- they are.

thank you very much.
hmmmm..... I like the idea of them chasing down infringement with the only Alamy if they indeed do.   I may try to write them again.

Who knows it it might ever sell on Alamy.  The magazine has used some. I am tired of local non-stock folks trying to copy some of my photos so infringement chasing would be a plus.

Several times I have had images on SS that were only image of something only to find out that one they start getting sales, suddenly there are pages of it.

Thanks. I have been sitting on the images trying to figure out what to do with them.

Alamy.com / RM versus RM Exclusive
« on: October 14, 2017, 18:32 »
If I choose RM exclusive on Alamy,
does this mean that I cannot make art prints for individuals?
Does it mean that I cannot sell it to 1 magazine from my own contact and not through stock?
Does it mean I cannot put it in gallery art shows or enter it into photo contests?

I have a couple of images that are unique.  So far there are no images of this on internet and none at microstock agencies.  I do not want to sell it though microstock.

Should I just do RM non-exclusive?  I do not want to lock myself out of his one magazine using it.  Subject is close to my heart as is organization's magazine.  Niche but they have used some of my others for educational purposes.

I asked Alamy the difference but the answer I got did not really clarify.

The deer image if a lot better and might b a lot better for blogs than many of the "better" images.

Not everyone wants studio perfect looking images. There are many uses for images and in order to increase sales it might be a good idea to have more than isolated on white studio photos.

I shot 3 animals in same place-- golden brown one ok. Black one ok albeit with golden tones in highlights on fur which actually looks nice. But the plain brown one looks off in part due to haze between us and in party due to color of smoke haze -- off enough to reject.

Blue sky ok even though not normal be here but clouds look dirty pinkish.  Mostly white skies.

Landscapes are out due to haze-- but not enough of it here (thankfully-- I have asthma) to make the smoke part of the subject.

I cannot imagine what people closer to the fires are going through.

I am curious to know if anyone else in Western US has been having issues photographing non-fire photos outdoors with all the smoke and haze from the wildfires.

Some photos are ok--  slight change in white balance etc corrects it.  Others I need to just reject because the smoke and haze make things look odd-- but not odd enough to be part of the image.  So weird to have good exposures etc but the subject looks off.

Off Topic / Re: Charlottetown, Virginia

I have taken a few photos of political things concerning positions to which I am strongly opposed.  I do not think they have documentary value as images.  I have not been able to upload them because I do not want used in any way hat would support certain positions.  Perhaps it would be different if they were more documentary or i the image said more as an image.

114
I wrote them....sales started up again.

Happening to me.  Was doing great and then bam, 0 and more 0 days.  Selling elsewhere.

It is only open to select people who did deals with them like Stocksy -- not their regular contributors.

Photoshop Discussion / Re: Soaring cost
« on: July 17, 2017, 18:05 »
I hated Elements.  I do no like LR and ye it mostly for watermarking.

I was forced into the subscription when I sent my computer into HP for warranty repair and they removed all software in process of repair.  Suddenly my license number did not work when I reinstalled it from my CD.  I am so mad at HP-- that free warranty repair cost me a fortune.

I think I would try another program if they keep raising price.

It seems to me that PS puts a lot of noise into images when one uses the slightest changes in much of anything.

« on: July 01, 2017, 18:22 »
The OP didn't answer what camera he was using. The only time I got rejections was when I had a defective camera and didn't know it until the rejections started coming in. That camera went back and I got a new one and never had a problem again.

Ditto but with my lens.  Once the camera was repaired, few issues with sharpness.

Never signed up thanks to be warned of their other shady deals.  Definitely not now.

Adobe Stock / Re: ID Request
« on: June 08, 2017, 12:02 »
What the OP is suggesting is that they already have a Fotolia account so why would they need to submit ID if they are already a Fotolia contributor and want to sync to an Adobe account?

Matt, I already submitted my ID to fotolia ages ago that was accepted.  My fotolia was synched to Adobe back when you asked us to do it and I have already received several payments. So now why is Adobe asking for one?

It seems like spam because there is no reason to ask for it now.

General Stock Discussion / Similar image-- not
« on: June 07, 2017, 15:39 »
Today I has an image rejected as being a similar image.  The image was not similar to my own in subject matter, composition or light submitted at same time or ever. Checked that they have too.  It is not similar to images by others with agency and the lighting on mine is nicer than most there.

Annoyed. Oh, fine... that agency loses the image and others have it for sale instead.  Move on and work on other images.  What X rejects will sell on Y.   Typically I just move on but this time I knew I could actually check.

Are there any agencies that penalize you for resubmitting?  Normally I do not bother.. but this time might be worth it.

Adobe Stock / ID Request
« on: June 07, 2017, 12:05 »
I tried uploading some images directly to Adobe instead of through fotolia.

Now I am getting an email asking for a government ID- should not his have been done when I synched the accts?  Is this a scam/hack email?

May started out absolutely fantastic and then declined just as fast.

Sadly, others were even worse.

Thanks Matt, I will try the erase all.
I do not put keywords into meta data of images as part of usual workflow.  Not all my photography is meant for stock/internet.

I would like the option to turn of the autofill for keywords so that I can fill in keywords with  a simple cut and paste in a blank box.
It sometimes brings up one i had not thought but right now the interface is really time consuming for me.  I put my keywords in a list in the right order and then cut ans paste.
If there is an option to tun it off, then one can work for both groups.
