I would have to contact Hostgator support to change the value, which shouldn't be a big deal.

You can override it using the root .htaccess file. Pop something like this in

php_value post_max_size 25M
php_value upload_max_filesize 25M
My values are already at 64MB but don't these values only refer to file sizes? I have no problem uploading them - the problem is the processing part...  :o

I did check my php.ini and these are my values:

upload_max_filesize: 64M
post_max_size: 64M
memory_limit: 256M
max_execution_time: 30
max_input_time: 60

no idea what else to change...  :o but thanks for your response!

it's not always great idea to alter the max scripttimeout globally (ISPs may not appreciate it)
for my online games, with ASP, i set the Server.ScroptTimeout variable in the functions that need it, then reset when the function ends.

I'm sorry, I have not the slightest clue what you are talking about. I wish I would though.

I have no problems up to 25 Megapixels which is not a super big deal but I do have some larger stuff and amongst all the sites I sell my stuff at least on my own site, I 'd like to offer the full resolution as well.

The uploaded image will still show up on the "Process images" page, so once I try to process an image to Drafts something goes wonky.

Once I goto "All Images" I can see a database entry for that image but no preview image. I can make it go live but the image itself is missing.
IPTC data is all there but no image.

Yep! Memory. But today I fix that! In a nutshell...you guys shouldn't have to learn server management (much) it should be plug and play. Thanks for keeping me aware. We will get there.

Been thinking of a Jurassic park quote this whole thread:

Ian: I'll love it when it works.
Worker: It'll work when you love it.

?? perhaps write  to screen "processing image" $dir $file_name

I just had an idea! How bout I keep this buggy for as long as I can, and you guys will all end up being developers! One way or another we can ensure your job security!

Maybe I somehow misworded or mislead without knowing it. Anything not installed in root WILL NOT WORK.

FYI, its a simple path issue. So it might be about 20 minutes of going through files and making adjustments. BUT it effects the way network sites communicate. Original version assumes everyones images are located at site/search-images/keyword+keyword/

So to accomodate different domain installs at various levels, your site will have to tell the other site where the search page is located, be it site/cascoly/search-images/keyword+keyword/ or site/buypics/search-images/keyword+keyword/

So, one change effects many things.

The *** GRAND FINALLY *** of this testing phase will end with two big adjustments: Flawless image processing among differing servers, and working non-root-level installs.

The user license still won't work and it reloads the product page. I cleared my cache etc.  ???

The current one should work. Put your license page in trash, delete from trash. Deactivate/Activate Theme. If its not fixed, I will be amazed.
...

Stupid question, after trashing the license page (which comes with Symbiostock by default - I added my text to it) and deleting it from trash (no idea where the trash bin is located - but I guess I'll find it...) I would have to create that page again, so the newly activated theme actually has something to display right?

Sorry MSG - last reply for now -

No. Delete it. And yes, before you do that, copy the content!

When you reinstall the theme will generate a new blank page, and update the system where its link is. Then your link will work. Paste the content back into the page.

edit; Trash is located in the pages tab. You have, if I'm not mistaken, three fields: Published, drafts, and trash. Click on trash, get content from former page, end delete.

Second Symbiostock theme has problem in Processing Images.

I reuploaded the First Symbiostock theme, it processes images without any problem.

Was out today. Gonna get two things done tonight:

1. Memory use improved.
2. Choose your own pixel size for each size.

Here is an update: The theme now works on any level install. YAY! DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT TILL I POST THE NEW VERSION THOUGH  :P

Our memory issue still exists with the script, even after some changes. If you have imagick installed - your doing great. If not, well---it still no work. (edit, I'm not putting out the imagick checking version unless I have some help with it)

So after going around the world with this theme and coming at least this far, I'd like to do this:

1. Start making a catalog of hosts which run Symbiostock without a problem for people considering using it.

2. Start "checklist" of things to do to get image processing to work for new webmasters starting up. Things disgussed like php.ini, htaccess...etc.

3. Get some generous coders to help get this script working optimally, so it only fails on only the cheapest or badly configured server situations.

We may be stuck with the memory issue until those three things are satisfied.

I'm going to fix one more detail with this multi-level wordpress fix, then make that child theme for you css/web savvy people to start "making it yours" visually ... and even in code if you desire.

installed the latest theme, and the root path problem is gone, but other bugs reported before remain:

activate network wont stay on

save changes to prices wont  stay

i can upload a few images alright, but when i try to process them, get the proper path but same error:
Fatal error: Call-time pass-by-reference has been removed in /homepages/35/d235364144/htdocs/cascoly/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/image-processor/symbiostock_image_processor.php on line 472

Some minor problems with categories - I add 3 children to Transport, but when I list them later from 'Image Categories' it inserts them randomly and doesnt show them as children:

   Concepts (0)
  Traffic (0)
  Food | Drink (0)
  Health (0)
  Trucks & Cars (0)
  Events (0)
  Landscape (0)
  Miscellaneous (0)
  Nature (0)

also, it displays the slug when you click on a category:

http://www.buydigpix.com/cascoly/image-categories/

click on Hot Air Balloons & you get:
Images in category: "Hotairballoons"

-----------------------
would be nice to have a (default?) option for users to see only categories with > 0 images, so we can create categories that may not immediately have images in them

Child categories don't work... yet.

You can edit the slug on your category to be whatever you want. Just go into the category list under 'RF Images' and rollover your category and click 'edit'.

Interesting... its working for me :D Thats why I updated. I guess that is why they call it testing.

Best scenerio: leo[at]symbiostock.com < -- set me up an admin account so I can check it out myself.

For me everything worked on both non-root level and beyond. So now its just details.

I really have no choice but to keep following up these bugs for the weekend. So if anyone else is experiencing problems like that let me know  :P I at least wanted to have those sorts of things worked out.

Fill out working/broken pole. Remember to change your vote when you get an update that works on a given feature. Thanks for patiently testing/being guinea pigs.

edit: tell me if I'm missing any major bugs in the checklist. Also everything works for me...which means we're down to server-differences and possibly browser quirk details.

For anyone who's values aren't saving in the admin (which is ajax powered) let me know what browser your using.

OK everyone! I had a good idea -

Go to my testing site http://www.xyzai.com/

name: testme
password: microstockgroup

Upload images, delete them...network to your site...search...set options....

Then come back and report.

Yeah, suicide I know, but this is a testing site. I can delete it all anyway.

That site will show you how things SHOULD function in an ideal environment. In this case (not to sound stuck-up) a dedicated server  ;)

Now at least you can figure out and update me: Is your problem identical on my site and yours?

Tell me this isn't an awesome troubleshooting idea!?

edit - also check out the "testing" tab. It will list the values of the server environment. Compare them to yours.

This is cool, thanks Leo. I've added your site to test the network bits (and vice versa) but I don't know where/how they should show up on the site(s). Can you take a peek and let me know what I'm doing wrong?
