Does it show somewhere in our stats whether a customer downloaded the PNG or JPG version of an asset?

Unfortunately, no we don't provide you with that information.

Thanks for the question,

Are you asking me why that is? This is a process that requires a lot of time and resources. The priority was placed on newer files, once complete I am told we will begin converting older files also. I do not know what the timeline is for this.

Thanks,

Mat Hayward

Good news when that happens, I'll have more PNG files from my old EPS. TY

Does anybody knows, how many PNG files are in Adobes database?

Mat, how will buying customers (and potential customers) find out about this new service?  Will Adobe make an announcement somehow, such as a newsletter?

There is an amazing team focused on marketing at Adobe. Stay tuned....

-Mat

Haven't seen any marketing or announcement yet, or if there has been I've missed it.  PNG sales are happening but not at the rate of popularity I had hoped.  With the important Christmas/New Year period upon us, it would be good to see buying customers being informed about PNG files and how to find them.

Illustrator does not embed the color profile when exporting a PNG file, when I check the file metadata in Bridge it says Color Mode RGB, Color Profile Untagged.

Can I upload the untagged PNG saved in Illustrator or should I export again that same file from Photoshop and embed the sRgb color profile there? Does it make any difference?

Thanks for your help!

I don't use Illustrator, but I realized even in Photoshop, the default was to save PNGs with no profile, but there is in fact a checkbox in the save dialog box which allowed you to save with a color profile.

When I save an EPS file with transparent background and the design requires some empty space around to frame the object (an icon for example) what is the best option?

- Adding a transparent background that has same size of the artboard and larger than the object, on another layer
or
- Saving the EPS file selecting the Use Artboards option

That file will still have a flat jpg preview file paired to preserve colors when displayed online.

Thanks

AnS

I wonder how it would work with vectors.  :o  When uploading vectors the automated preview image shows distorted colors (to avoid this I have to make a JPG too and zip it together with the EPS and upload it that way), so I worry that the automated PNG might have distorted colors too, no? Hm. Time to test it.

I upload the eps file (with no background) zipped with the jpg preview. When the image is approved it shows ai/eps, jpg and png on sale and colors are fine.
I don't know if it is the right procedure but seems to work for me.

The previews and the free downloadable sample of PNG versions of (raster) images look softer than JPG ones.
It is more pronounced on some images that you can see the difference even from the small previews on the web page.

This may discourage buyers.

PNG on the left, JPG on the right @300% magnification of the free small sample file (https://stock.adobe.com/th/images/white-fence-and-green-hedge-png-format/526151123, not my image).

Are Adobe still planning "big things" for their png collection or have they shifted their attention/ resources away to AI now (i.e. doing away with us)? We were told to wait and see and that we wouldn't be disappointed with what they had in mind/ the level of promotion. Havent seen much yet.

PNG files are selling but as you say there doesn't appear to have been any announcement or marketing to customers by Adobe.  Shame and disappointing for those of us who have made the effort to upload.  Adobe did say they might have to wait to achieve 'critical mass' in search results - that might take a long time given that the majority of contributors do not have an existing PNG file collection.

Right? I was expecting a new product that integrates PNGs (maybe Canva like web based design software?) or at least some ads or promotion on the front page and search filters for pngs etc.

So far getting some organic sales but very much underwhelmed given the hype. Have to reiterate my fears that early adopters who fell for the promises will be long buried in search results by the time it really takes off (in fact already are, my earliest uploads are already falling off in the usual pattern for uploads to Adobe after the new content search boost).

Personally I am grateful for the delay because it gives me more time to build a larger png port :)

Sales might be slower than expected, but many files do sell faster than normal uploads.

I am especially impressed that editorial pngs sell. Basically a combo of two content types I didnt do before.

Ultimately I hope png will get their own top category, like video. But they will need millions of files for that.

They already have millions. 5.127.388 png files as of now.

They already have product similar to Canva, it is Adobe Express. I tried it few times, couldn't see all AS images there and thought it was weird and missed chance to sell more. But I admit I didn't go much in detail so I might be wrong.

Also, maybe they are waiting for acquisition of Figma to come through. Again, just a guess.

If they haven't started to promote them then I'm really looking forward to that point in time. They've been selling really well for me so far.
