Is there going to be an Immunity Prime Lens? Will Gordon Ramsey come to berate you if you forget the clipping path? Acurs Tribe vs. Rodriguez Tribe?

I already think most people here are playing the Microstock Survivor home game.  ;D

Would this run PS CS5 pretty good? :P

all this talk about host gator... I may have to give them a whirl on a future project

I hear nothing but good things about Hostgator from other web builders and such. I was about to use them but I got the deal with Hostwinds so I went with them instead. The site in my sig is one of them on Hostwinds if someone wants to compare loading speed or something. I honestly don't know if HG is faster. HW servers are in Houston, TX I think.

I am about to have my 6th website going here soon.

I use Godaddy for buying the domain.... I would never use them for hosting due to the controls..yuck. They have enough specials rolling around often enough that makes it great for domain buying.

Hosting I am very happy with Hostwinds.com.  I caught a deal when they early in their startup. Great customer support. They use Cpanel with softalicious for the installer program.

I also have 2 of my sites on Hostingfour.com. They work but it seems customer support is slow in replying. The 2 websites there are not my major sites though.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stocking is the new Planking

I dont need to go to the People of Wal Mart site to see that stuff. I swear half of the shots must have been taken in my current city Wal Mart. Be thankful those web shots dont come with smell-o-vision.

I left a long while back. It did not hurt me then because my pics just did not sell well enough there to justify staying with the early warning signs. DT was a better performer and SS has always been in the money for me. SS is still doing good residuals for me after I stopped shooting RF to work on my RM months ago.

From their submit page...

"A couple things: Were being good citizens and licensing the images were using. If you submit, pick a relatively inexpensive image (in iStock Photo terms, keep it between 2-5 credits) and well cover the licensing fee. Youll make our lives easier by including the URL to the original image. Also, please leave the watermark on the original stock photo and place the stock photo on the left. Thanks!"

If they actually buy could be tested easy. Take one of your own shots that might get no attention in sales... redo it poorly, submit it to them and see if you get a sale.

I got a plug in that works very well with auto commenting..gimmie a sec

go to plugins... add new and search this one  Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin

I use it on all my wp sites.

it adds a box that must be checked off. Seems that the auto comment software have not caught up to that simple trick yet.

Note: it will not stop manual comments.

this might be the reason why women couldnt have children in that sci fi movie "Children of Men"

"The Omega Man" or "I am Legend" Same movie, different age.

Wow.  About time.  All the money we pour into this stuff and it seems like nothing ever happens.

But just imagine how much money people will have to pay for it too.

I wish I could go. I was Stationed in Berlin when the wall came down. I would love to see how the city looks now. Hit the Ku' and go hang in the Old Irish Pub in Europa Center.

My old work site is pretty tore up now. Teufelsberg, the old US Army Intel Site. I even think they turned the Barracks I was in into a motel or something. Would be cool to get my old room back...lol.

Irish Pub is still there and still rocking!

Nice! Someone float a dime ...or a Phennig (spelling) on the head of a fresh Guinness for me when they go there.

Oh yeah, just implement this, and watch it get abused by hackers, black-hat 'seo experts' and the rest... You'll wish it was never thought of.

^^
...is the correct answer. This could very easily backfire and besides that, I'm sure someone at Google already discussed and perhaps dropped the idea.

And part two of that, why not reward good sites with positive instead of taking the negative approach. Boost the ones that get positives, instead of being harmful and hurtful to the ones you don't like. Makes more sense? Seems some people are dwelling on revenge and harm as a solution. Positives are a better way to help the ones that do the right things.

Something like Google Plus?  ;D

Software - General / Re: Firefox
« on: August 06, 2011, 13:35 »
I have used firefox for a few years now.  There was a time when it was much better than IE but I really don't know any more.  The lateat version seems really fast and relaible.  I like firefox because it's made by the Mozilla foundation and they're a non-profit organisation.  I'm more comfortable with them than with google or microsoft.

And I have firefox set up exactly as I want it and I can't replicate that with IE or chrome, so I'm going to stick with firefox.  I use linux on my laptop and PC and can sync all my bookmarks.  Can't do that easily with IE and chrome doesn't function as well for me.
+1 with exception that I'm a Windows user :-)

Same here. IE is just a back up browser to me... behind Chrome and behind Firefox.

Since I am into internet marketing also, with my own websites... a tool like this would be a dream and a nightmare. You could run some imacro script through proxies against a competing site to go for a higher listing in googles search. It could be used against your site too. I think I would rather this not come to be.

Hey... this is kinda nice.. bigger, brighter and in widescreen...lol  Man does 7 have a different feel than XP. Got all my info transferred. Now for the days of installing programs.  :o

Beeps on startup can be as simple as poorly seated ram.

Jbarber is right. Each mainboard has several possible sequences of those beeps. If you consulted the mainboard manual, you could find out what those beeps meant. Some problems can be rectified. Loose RAM is one of possible causes.

Oh I know. Old time Comptia A+ Certified. I know Windows 2000 and Xp. I just dont have the book from 8 years ago...lol. I could look it up on the internet but maybe later. Just got the 2 puters talking to each other now and I am transferring files now.

The Old one has top of the line parts if you go back to when I built it. If it does not take to a new clean OS install, the Secondary HD I will save. Same for the DVD Writer. I am keeping the Thermaltake Xaser fan and controls for the heck of it. Power supply will not fit the new microtower though...hmmm.

Anybody still use the small floppy drive...lol. It is still good too.

It is going to take me a while just to get all the programs and docs and pdf's and so on....I want to keep on the new one. Then I got to get used to the feel of Win 7.

We got the one I was looking at for right at $400. Just got to unbox and then try to set up the network for information passing. 1 terrabyte HD... yea.. gonna partition that...lol.

Thanks for the Firefox info.

I might just try to do a reinstall after everything is transferred. That way I have a spare machine to run certain programs while the main in is in use.

I was debating on getting a laptop but I just don't think that would work for me with editing photos and a bunch of typing.. small screen and small keyboard. Plus it would be easier to add things into a desktop like more ram and another hard drive.

Kinda looking at a specific one that should be loads better than my current if it was running correctly. A Intel Dual Core 3.2, 3 gigs ram and a 1 Terrabyte HD.

We are just going to go shopping tomorrow for a new bundle. I just dont know widows 7 64 bit stuff. Currently on XP. Get rid of the 17" CRT Monitor and hit a new 20" Widescreen.

I am going to try to network them together for easier transfer of programs and info if they can talk to each other easy.

Biggest thing I have to look up now is if I can transfer all my Firefox Passwords somehow.

Looks like I am going to have to break down and buy a new computer.

The other day lightning caused a quick outage and I think it surged into the computer. If I reboot, when it comes to the logon screen... beeps repeatedly and very fast. After I log on, cannot move any desktop icons. Photoshop will not load any photos into it but Lightroom and (just installed to test) GIMP will load up normally. Wiped out PS and then the re installs fail.

Got some other little annoying things happening.

I think it is time to put my old hand built workhorse to rest now. 8 years old and been through many changes and virus wars. Time to move into more modern equipment. sigh  :'(

CGI but still clever:

Take a look at HEMA's product page - just wait a couple of seconds and watch what happens...
DON'T click on any of the items in the picture, just wait...

I got 3 Yoyo's to start with something like that. 2 More on the way too...lol.
