It sounds like they are looking for a vector EPS file if they are blowing the image up that large.  I used to do large format printing and typically any EPS file saved out of Illustrator or another vector program works but mostly we'd end up printing JPGs/TIFFs/PSD that were already sized.

Is the illustration done with shape paths in Photoshop?  If its a bitmap image/illustration to begin with saving it as EPS wouldn't really help make it scalable or matter for printing so that's a bit confusing.

I tried this as soon as I updated and was so disappointed to see that it expanded to a mess of clipping paths and a bitmap "Non-Native Art" swatch. If it could only expand to gradient mesh that would be perfect!

If you have a bunch of art where you've already used this and need to convert objects you might check out http://www.meshtormentor.com/ though fair warning: this plugin has been around forever and I haven't used it in years.  I know it worked fine for me about 3 versions back though.  Probably best to just pretend the new gradient type doesn't exist for stock vectors though :(

Yep, I see the same message on any search or collection click.  I can see the homepage but no individual images.

I skimmed through this thread pretty fast so apologies if someone already mentioned this but we should be reporting them to Google too rather than relying on the corrupt host or SS to take them down.  AdSesnse does NOT mess around and if you get your account cutoff for shady business it should be hard for them to get it running again on the same domain.

Of course they will pop up with a new one but when it comes to playing whack-a-mole with these thieves Google may be our best bet when it come to bulk complaints.  If you take away their monetization they have no reason to be giving our files away.

Edit:  I just went and reported the site through the ad-sense banner at the bottom to google, only took about 3 minutes I'd encourage others to do this too.  If you hover over the the ad banner at the bottom specifically the play button icon the word "AdChoices" will appear in gray.

Click that (Make sure NOT to click outside in the actual ad!) and it will take you to the google site to a page where you can "Leave feedback on the website or ad you just saw" scroll close to the bottom for this option and chose website.

You can then check "The page violates AdSense program policies in other ways" and "This page is distributing someone eles's copyrighted material, possibly without permission."

There is also a place to leave a comment with details and optionally your email.

Your site looks nice and professional, the only thing I find a little confusing on the individual image page is the order of the regular/extended licenses maybe.  Does Symbiostock integrate with Woo Commerce now?  I've totally last track will have to do some research and catch up. Good luck with sales!

After hand holding a new client through PayPal today I was thinking of this thread and just shaking my head at the idea of trying to walk a potential buyer through crypto currency issues.  I just see it as another obstacle to user friendliness and more time spent on customer support which is the absolute last thing I need.

I've been generally pretty adventurous with new ideas and independent selling platforms over the years and willing to jump in and spend time and money to test different things, but nothing here sounds remotely realistic or tempting to me.

If you have a full Creative Cloud subscription and you have some illustrated vector characters check out Character Animator CC you can do some really fun things in there and send it to After Effects to combine with other elements and more traditional animation.

After finally gaining access to ESP I see my September payment says it was supposed to be paid out on the 25th. Since this will be my first time getting paid from Getty/iStock in nearly a year (which I have to look into) I'm just wondering if payments are staggered over several days?  Sue, I see you got yours on the 23rd.  Is it normal for payment to be 1-2 days before or after the payout date on the statement?

I was just looking for a new tool like this that works with the latest illustrator update. Will give it a try tonight, thank you for sharing!

Unfortunately it seems less like a scam and more like the state of things with Facebook pages and ads right now.  Even when you do get likes, there is a VERY low percentage of your followers (like single digits small in a lot of cases!) that will ever see each post unless you pay even more to FB ads to "promote" the post.

If I were going to spend on my own ads at the moment that would not be my first choice of platform.  If you do decide to try it again I suggest really spending some time researching the targeting features and using those until you're target audience is extremely small and specific.

This is a handy resource and very nice of you to share, thank you!

I am disappointed too!  I have had many customers request PNGs and PSD of illustrations and CM seemed like a great outlet for that, as well as the ability to set your own prices.  I had planned to focus on uploading there and keeping the prices in line with my direct selling site but now I'll probably end up closing shop or just using it as a place to sell only my older illustrations keeping fresh for other venues.

It seems to be an issue mostly of them trying to shoehorn one "simple" license onto way too many product types.  Resale rights make sense I guess in the case of a Photoshop filter or illustrator brush where you are literally using it as a tool but not for images/graphics/illustrations.

Thanks Joann; I have made some Progress Again with your help.
Setting all those things up is really time consumming and not necessarely my strong side...I sure that many like me would prefer to pay for templates that are fully functional once installed.
Jean

For what it's worth the template is fully functional, it does exactly what it's meant to.  What you are looking for is someone to set up your site.  That is a service that Leo and some others are offering.

I'm very sorry you are frustrated. I've read through and it seems this issue seems to have more to do with the nature of Wordpress and themes than the product not being as described.  It can be frustrating at first if you don't understand that the content is always separate from the theme.

There main concepts of setting up your home page are no different with Clean Theme than they are with the base theme or any other child theme.  There are many threads here on different aspects of that, I know it can be very time consuming to go through them and get answers but that is one of the challenges with a do-it-yourself type deal like Symbiostock.  I feel we are very lucky to have such an active community of helpers.

What you seem to be looking for is someone to actually set up your homepage content for you.  That is not typically something any theme can provide automatically.  Unfortunately there will be some level of learning and set up that needs to be done on your own for every Symbiostock site.

Jo Ann, I really appreciate your input and I will be incorporating your suggestion on the functions.php addition for the next release.  I've never used the slider you mention in your message so I'm not sure why it would be breaking the layout.  This is another tricky aspect of offering themes, there really is no way to test every use case with all the possible plugins out there.

Just a personal note, because this is frustrating for me too. I started selling Clean Theme because people liked my design and wanted something similar.  It was suggested by several users that making commercial child themes available would save time for those who aren't knowledgeable in editing CSS and wanted a different style.  That is what I hope to provide for people who purchase it.

I've spent many many hours creating documentation at Symbioguides.com and exchanging messages with Symbiostockers to help with set up. Currently I'm struggling to keep up with the development of the main theme to keep Clean Theme working for those who are happy using it.  I've had much less time lately to be here on MSG walking people through things for which I apologize, but it can't be helped at the moment.

I'm learning that being responsible for a commercial child theme is difficult business.  To put it in perspective compared to selling stock, if one theme sale is equal to one large image sale at istock, it would be like having to provide on-going support for each image you sell and exchanging a few emails with customers instructing them how to use your image after they buy it.  And on top of that having to worry about upgrading your image to play nicely with their graphics software every time that changes! :)

I am going through all of my messages today and sending out answers where I can.  I'll be updating the SymbioThemes support forum (it seems there was an issue with my alert emails not being sent) and adding a contact form where I can be reached directly.  The MSG forum is not the best way to get a hold of me these days, but it is still a great place for community help!

A front page building tutorial is on my long list of things to do as soon as I have the time to spare.  In the mean time, if you have any specific issues please feel free to email me: amanda [ at ] creativembers [ dot ] com

Sorry for rambling a bit here, just know that I am doing my best to make sure things are running smoothly and fighting with limited time.

It's just personal choice really, some people like to have the extra widget areas other want more flexibility, so feel free to use either!

Hi Joann, sorry for the confusion!  The home page CTA template has full width widget areas above the content and below.  In the demo that is where the slider is added (above the content) and the latest images widget is in the below content area.  You can find these under Appearance > widgets.

The actual content area of the Home page cta template is a two column area with the left being about 2/3 of the page.  It sounds like that's what the problem is.  If you put things in the main content area they won't span the whole page.  Hope that helps!

Looks like it's working here :)

CleanTheme (or any other child theme) will change the styling of your site, such as fonts, colors some spacing and it may occasionally move a few elements around on the page.

It will not create new content or install any plugins so you are still free to build your home page to look any way you want.  If you want a home page with a slider you will need to make sure you are creating and setting a static home page (probably using the Home Page CTA template)  in WordPress instead of defaulting to the blog page.

There are many threads on setting up your home page and which plugins and widgets people are using.  I hope to have time to do a full tutorial on this soon at Symbioguides.  In the meantime, here is a thread where Chico shared a marked up screen shot of the home page structure:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/19164/19164/msg316106/#msg316106

If you read through that post and the others in that thread is should give you a good starting point.

The base theme actually uses the Twitter Boostrap CSS so I know there is a reset section in there that would usually help to normalize the margins in all browsers as much as can be expected.  If you added your own margins I'm wondering if it may have over-ridden some of that.

If you are very concerned about the IE8 issue, what you could do is include a browser specific style sheet that with specific adjustments for that browser.  I don't have a ready sample of that laying around but if you are feeling adventurous that's the path I'd check out.  Just curious does the layout actually break in IE8 or the margins just noticeably different?

The little stuff used to drive me bananas until someone pointed out to me that if a user is on IE they probably haven't seen the site on another browser so they won't even know the margins are different for example.

Internet explorer is notoriously bad at following web standards and displaying things consistently. The older your version the worse it gets.  The current version of IE is 10 (or 9 depending on how old your version of Windows is since some don't support 10.) Chrome and Firefox are generally thought to be far superior browsers.

In web design there are usually some compromises that have to be made as it's nearly impossible to create code that display identically on all browsers and devices.  As long as the site in functioning correctly and doesn't appear broken it should be fine.  A good exercise is to check out your Google analytics to see what percentage of your audience is using what browser.

According to the chart linked below, globally in July 2013 IE accounted for less than 12% of users and only 4.8% of that 12% was on IE8.
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

I'm sure charts and numbers will vary but taking a look at your own stats as your traffic grows is best.

That IS a good question :D  I have no clue honestly, but I'll poke around.  I suspect it has something to do with whether you add descriptions when you create new categories and then add them to the menu.  You can create these little descriptions for any of your menu items if you want to, it's sort of an "extra" feature of WordPress that Leo has enabled in the Symbiostock theme.  Some themes have it others don't, so even if you are used to the WordPress menu system it might be new to you.
#47
Looks like you have a menu widget on your homepage.  Check your widgets, you don't need to include a menu widget since the menu itself is already there.

Go to
Appearance
Menus
Then look down your menu list, click on the tiny dowm arrow next to where the offending item says image categories
Keep navigation label, delete text from the other boxes

Christine had the right answer here, there was just one little thing, the description box wasn't showing on Martha's menu screen.  That can be turned on in screen options which you will find a drop down arrow for in the top right corner of your Appearance > Menu page.  Then you tick the "Description" box and follow Christine's advice above.  I took a couple screen shots of where to turn this on:

And here is where you can edit or delete descriptions:

It looks like there might be a little misunderstanding in this thread...defining a focus keyword is how you are supposed to use Yoast.  There are several tutorials on the plugin author's page, but basically the whole point is to pick out a good SEO keyword and then use Yoast as a tool/checklist to make sure you've done all you can so your page will rank well for that keyword.

Hi Martha, can you make me a temporary account, I'll log in and take a look.  I think it's probably just an added description in the menu settings.
