I just talked with Josephine and she says to let everyone know her SS RPD is $10.  ;D  ;D

So far I am better off with the new price structure of SS, in spite of many 10 to 17 cent sales.

Why should I boycot SS or even close my account? Why not accepting the 10 cent sales? I do, and I don´t care what will happen next year, because nobody can forsee the future.

If you are single I seriously recommend @stockphotofan1 on Twitter.

You can live happily ever after taking snapshots of lampposts, pigeons and crosswalks on the way to the store.

Dude has 25K images and gets under 100 downloads in a month!

Lol

Feed the beast!

10¢ now. next 3¢

Josephine will still be a loyal minion of SS

She probably has a poster of Oringer on her wall

Enjoy

For many it’s called self respect - seeing their work sold for dimes is an insult, so they have made a decision to not making it available to be sold for those amounts

Others don’t mind being told their work is only worth pennies, and are happy to keep making and selling their work

Even if SS eventually goes to paying $0.05 or lower, I am convinced there will still be those who contribute - and all they are doing is lining the pockets of the higher ups - because they will never work for pennies

You get Exactly what you allow others to dictate to you

You're right but self-respect and dignity is hard to come by for 10c a picky!..what many don't understand is that if we accept 10c a sale the next will be 5c a sale and so on. In the end we might as well give them away

As long as Josephine is happy cheerleading for Oringer and gang

Only you know the answer. For me, I know I don't care for others. Why? Because I've learned over the years carrying for others makes you suffer. I wish all contributors keep uploading to SS and I wish all of them eventually get 0.01$ for a photo. Or even less. Maybe some day contributor will need to pay to be on SS? Maybe. Or maybe it'll be free like on Pexels. You can't change the world, you can only change yourself. That's why I deleted all videos and photos. I have something that is worth more then money: self esteem. I will NOT sell a video for 0,50$ with a camera worth 6000$. No way. That's why when Adobe decides to go on the same path as SS I'm out of Adobe. When Pond5 decide the same I'm out. There are other things to do in life than spend 10-15 minutes typing tags for 10 cents. All of you who are still at SS: just stay there, so Oringer will get a few more millions in his pocket with your help and a mindset of a low paying worker.

bUt I neEd tO PuT foOd oN tHe TabLe. What you will soon be doing is either selling your gear or changing focus to others things to do if this trend in microstock keeps up. Devaluement of our work means we earn less money, we upgrade less gear, we travel less and we have less motivation. How you people think selling for a few bucks is still better than nothing is beyond me. No self respecting professional would say something so foolish. I wonder what dentists would say if their services were suddenly undercut to a fraction. Well here's a newsflash: they would stop working until they get their money back.

+100
Agree totally
For me, micro stock is a hobby and a good little gig where earning a few hundred a month is for funny money - to be spent on gear, trips, etc
However, while it would be easy just to leave my images as they are and not uploading new stuff, I still feel offended enough that SS  values out work at $0.10 that I will not support them by leaving my images for sale.
They are deactivated and will remain until there is a material reversal in commissions - which I think will never happen.
I couldn’t stomach the feeling of seeing $$0.10 sales come in.
No way.
The board members on SS are laughing at all the minions who will take whatever they deem to be fair. And it will happen again - believe me, it will happen again with the same results - with contributers who are a/ clueless or b/ will bitch and moan about the dire situation, but will keep on as before.
Good for them - you get exactly what you let yourself get.
As for me, I’m already resigned that SS is a lost cause. So I’ve cut my ties and have come to peace with it.

32
I simply don’t trust SS anymore
They can do all kinds of sneaky things, and how will we ever know what they’re really up to?
Someone else complained of this on SS forum, where they’ve removed one of their top images Only to find out that it’s been sold sometime after the fact

33
Keep trying
I’m sure the payoff will be worth whatever effort it takes

34
I am NOT reactivating if/until there is some significant reversal on SS part - but realistically, I think the chances of that happening is next to zero, so I am already resigned that I will close my account altogether

35
Looks like SS had some pressure to start making deals with some of the larger players

36
So much for $1.50 sales huh? I'm done with these morons

I want to mass delete my portfolio from this giant steaming turd of a company...

You will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free...

37
By the time some of these  contributers take to figure things out, their videos will be all over the place - free to be used, abused, resold, etc by others

It’s like watching an accident happen and just standing there silently taking it all in

What does it take for them to wake up anyway? 0,01$? They rather continue complaining about it then take action? Do they have any self-respect? any value for their work? Any working brain cell left in there?
Their earnings are dropping so much soon they can't even use it as an excuse to stick around anymore. What will they do then, wait and hope for things to turn around at SS? chr.st!

It's because of this submissive mentality Shutterstock or any other company does whatever they want!

I don't blame Shutterstock anymore I blame them! and I do hope their sales will go down to 0,01$. Go for it Shutterstock, take everything they've got! They are too f.cking dumb anyway!

Even Jon himself said if you don't like it then take your content and go yet they still don't get the message.
I have never seen such a sad bunch of people in my whole life, beyond pathetic!
And they are supposed to be educated and skilled professionals/hobbyists. If they were new at this and don't have a clue yet then maybe it would be forgivable but these are experienced contributors for gods sake!

So to those who are still active at SS, stop whining and suck it up! you get what you deserve! now drop your pants and bend over!

Worst part is that for images SS gave us a whole 6 days notice
Was there any notice of these pennies video sales beforehand?

The thing is whether image sales or video sales, SS hasn’t clearly defined all possible packages they’re offering buyers - making things even more confusing for contributers. It’s like there are so many mystery amounts people are getting and they have no clue what kind of offer they’re from.

Some people I guess will keep looking for an answer from SS that may never come - and by then they will have resigned that “that’s just the way things are”

Kudos to all that have enough self respect to walk away from it

39
I don’t get any frustrating and insulting Low sales anymore after deactivating everything

When I see people posting their frustration , I think I made the wise choice for myself

You can tell Oringer is really losing it by his manner of replying

His true colors are coming through

But it’s like he can’t help himself, which tells me one thing - KEEP UP THE PRESSURE!!

41
Let’s hope #boycottshutterstock continues to gain momentum

This may become a paradigm shift when we look back on it down the road!

42
That is HUGE!

These big guys deserve props for taking decisive action - it would be so much easier for them to leave their ports on and just stop submitting, and try to wring whatever’s left!

Makes me wonder if SS DIDNT make any special deals with ANYONE.
They really are taking a TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT stance.

What do you think about this Mr Rinder, about what SS has done?

You plan to continue supporting them as an artist?

Update

June 18- 318.961.660 images, 903.429 new images per week
June 23 - 320.955.776 images, 921.692 new images per week (updated)

I think things are just coming back to normal, people is just uploading again and accepting the 10 cents deal...

So sad...

Maybe the real desertion of people will be january 1 when people will just get an immovable 0.10 cents per sale and no 0.10-0.35-025-0.11-0.22 ... etc as they are reporting now...

Or...the numbers are being manipulated. I don’t trust them, do you? There are shareholders to answer to, millionaires that need to feed their habits. They can’t afford to lose buyers.

Good point

And it is specially important for them now to show a growing in numbers to makes people believe that everyone is just uploading in the usual rate. So the "fake numbers theory" is possible and convenient for SS

ROFLMAO!  - just a short time ago people were using those same statistics to show the effect it was having on SS. now the numbers don't support that so the numbers must be cooked!!

Who knows and who gives a crap at this point
All I know is I’m not in reality a part of those numbers, real or cooked
I walk away with my self respect at this point regardless what others do

General Stock Discussion / Re: Respect your elders?
« on: June 23, 2020, 08:59 »
At the end of the day people can do whatever they wish with their time and images

All I have control over is my own dignity and self respect - which will not be undermined for dimes while the fat cats get the lions share

We all know where this was heading - but instead of coasting downhill, SS put the pedal to the metal And I’m not going to sit in that car and wait for the crash at the bottom

When one top level contributer mention earnings drop, Oringer said it “might be some seasonality playing in there”.

I thought horseshit  only came out of a horses arse

I’m pretty sure I figured out who reported the article to Facebook. We have an active Shutterstock contributor spying on Facebook and in here, which no doubt is why the bitly posts were also removed. I don’t want to say who publicly because I don’t want to accuse someone without being 100% sure.

This the troll who has over 25K snapshots in his port?
What a loser

I don’t know who you mean, and I don’t really want to say anything specific because it’s just a strong suspicion on my part. I’m sure there are multiple people watching what we do.
