Hello. How will PNG files with white objects be displayed? For example snowflakes.
Content will not be differentiated based on color. The background will be white.

Mat, a suggestion. It might be more useful or user friendly if the transparent background displayed as a grey checkerboard, similar to the way Photoshop would show "transparency".

I just noticed that Adobe is offering "png" files.
A few questions:
- Is their offering png files something new or something that's been there previously?
- Is there a way to specifically search for png files?
- Do png files display on the site in such a way that it is obvious where the "transparency" is?

But they all do - only the microstock agencies don't. Why not? Because we put up with it. From my point of view, it's as simple as that.
So, which agencies are currently paying the least per download? How many images and how many contributors do those agencies currently have?

there are agencies that pay nothing at all and there are contributors who offer their images there anyway.
That is true. However, the last time I checked those agencies have very little imagery that requires paying models and such. There is a point where people just won't bother to supply content that requires models and higher production costs.

This will be interesting to watch.
It basically makes pond5/ss total market leader in video, but especially in editorial.
How will Adobe react?
They can start by accepting editorial stills and video from all contributors.

Thanks Mat. I'll just stick to C1 for now then. The day LR allows for manual ordering of keywords I'll be able to drop C1. I did some testing in the past and enjoyed using both classic and mobile LR but I still had to use C1 for keywording so it was just complicating my workflow using LR.
Here's hoping they'll allow it some day soon!
Lightroom does keep the order you add your keywords. They are only displayed alphabetically in Lightroom, the portal lists them in the order you add them.

Interesting, I put this in the "you learn something every day" category. I had no idea that Lightroom stored the keywords in the file in the order they were put in. Of course here's a question: If I keyword the RAW file in LR and then generate a jpg in Lightroom from that file, will the keywords in the jpg be in alphabetical or the ordered I entered them in for the RAW file?

I have heard of this exploding glass phenomenon but fortunately, never actually experienced it.

Pond5 was a standout for me performing well until the take over. Now down over 2/3's.
I designed my whole life around stock. It's beyond discouraging and clearly the bottom has not arrived. Yet one company treats us well. Why don't the rest?

Ten years ago I was hoping the bottom would come soon.
I think the only way "the bottom will come" is if or when royalties were driven so low that there was an obvious lack of new quality (well produced with models) content being uploaded and they saw that as a result of that sales dropped.

That would be my suggestion for improvement. Of course, free DLs should not count towards free subscription, but it would be helpful to know the stats. I.e I nominated photo last yr, got 5 credits, and now I see that photo had 10 free DLs over last 12 months. So maybe I would not re-nominate same photo this time around estimating it has potential to earn more as "not free". On the other side, photo with 0-5 DLs in free collection is probably good candidate for re-nomination.
Where do you see that stats that shows the number of free downloads an asset has gotten?

I did a quick check on what was eligible for nomination in my portfolio and I don't understand why items that have been downloaded within the last month and have lots of downloads are eligible.
Last time around, I thought it was only things that hadn't been downloaded in a certain amount of time that were eligible.
I'm not assuming; I checked several against my recent downloads list (by hand I would add; there are no ways to see downloads by date for a given image).
Have the rules for what assets can be included changed this time?
Yes, seems strange. Some pretty good sellers are eligible.

As an indicator of what happens when you literally get $0 for a download, look at the free sites....from what I saw, they are seriously (if not totally) lacking in well produced content....especially shots with people. That's the future for these agencies at some point if they keep pushing royalties down and down and down.

Wonder if they are doing this because they are losing exclusive video contributors? Seems radical on the surface that an exclusive clip gets 100x the royalty amount vs. a non-exclusive clip...or am I missing something?
