Shutterstock.com / Re: Sale have stopped?
« on: March 07, 2022, 02:24 »
Thanks :)
It is a sale where a specific image is taken down of their site. You also have to take it down from any site you have for a period of time. In my case 2 years. You get 20% of the sale if you have that image exclusive to Getty. After those years the image gets reinstated. You also cannot have similars available.
Getty has lots of experience and a very strong customer base. They know how to get out money from clients and contributors. I wish Adobe and other sites had this programs as they can be quite lucrative.
Getty has also a growing customer content program. I have never participated but there are people that are quite engaged with those too.
I think that's the reason they still exist They are always pushing the envelope. Others lag behind in that department.

What is a market freeze sale and how can I get one of those!!! ;D

Hi I have the same, about 80 sales of the same video for 25 cents the last few days
Seems a bit odd. Is it a free sale or something? It's not a popular or great video, probably only sold it a few times over the last few years.

because of adobestock and pond5 deal.

that's something we all needed to know.
Wow that's excellent news

Does anyone know if you can have some clips as exclusive on Pond5 or does it have to be your whole portfolio?
And does an exclusive video get viewed more?
Shutterstock can go whistle for my videos.

In my email it said I was at level 2 for video - I have not had anywhere near as many downloads this year as it says. Are they softening the blow, by letting me stay a level above? I mean it's still a big dip in percentage. Awful

I'm at level 3 for images, and that number is right.

Yes, I don't know if it can be done or not, that's what I'd like to know. It's 100 now, I'd like to make it higher so I don't get paid for the next few months.

Has anyone changed how much the iStock minimum is? I am signing off working and for tax reasons I wont be allowed to get paid by iStock for the next few months. So either increase the minimum or have payment delayed.
Thanks!

General Stock Discussion / Re: Coronavirus ?
« on: March 15, 2020, 01:15 »
Also in lockdown in Spain, it's bonkers how serious it's suddenly got. No going out unless completely necessary.
Just got to sit it out and try to slow it down as much as poss for the health services to be able to cope. And put up with a bored teenager in house ::)
I hope UK closes schools etc down soon. In the beginning I thought they were right about waiting but now I think they need to and quickly.
I don't have the option of staying in, I share the care of my chairbound mother with my sister. I live c40 miles away (two trains and a bus in each direction), she lives c25 miles away. Although she has carers going in four times a day, we are really worried about what will happen if there's a lockdown - the carers don't do e.g. food shopping, washing (of which there is a full load, almost every day), emptying bins etc.
Of course, we don't want to catch the disease and spread it to her, or anyone else, during the incubation period, . Footbumps, no hugs, and blown kisses.

If they close down schools etc, who will look after the children of health / care workers? Some may live near family who are able and willing to help, some may not. So do they stay off their vital work to look after their kids, or informally make arrangements for them to be looked after in groups?
I'm glad I'm not making these decisions. I think there is a case for the concept of 'herd immunity' to prevent a major re-infection next winter, and for slowing down the virus so that the health services can cope with the most vulnerable. But there are so many factors to consider, and the scientists are still learning how this virus behaves. And I am not a scientist.
Sorry to hear your problems Sue. Give your mother a big wide smile from me the next time you see her and tell her she has hundreds of MSGers thinking of her :)

Thanks, it's not really a problem for me.  :) There must be thousands like my Mum who would be very seriously impacted in the event of a shutdown (and also she's be seriously impacted if she caught the virus, it's a real dilemma). It's just that when people say, 'we need a shutdown, think of the most vulnerable', they're not actually thinking about the needs of the most vulnerable.
It's a really difficult one. I feel for you as it must be a real worry. The lockdown counts those visits for caring for people as essential but I can understand that you might be left without the carers. My side is different, my parents in the UK both have heart problems and my dad is waiting on an emergency op - it's a real danger to them if they the catch it. My daughter is at college there and lives with them so I guess i am thinking selfishly of them.
The risk is that the health service gets overloaded and people can't be treated, which would mostly be the vulnerable.
If it's slowed down there is less sudden strain on everything. It's still going to be massively tough though no matter what.

Financially it's going to be a disaster! I am self employed but working from home is not an option. Apart from microstock, hahahahahahaha:)
People here are helping each other out as much as poss which is a good thing. I hope things don't become more difficult for you Sue than they already must be.
 :)

General Stock Discussion / pond5 pricing question

Is there a way of changing the prices of all of my files on pond5, in one go rather than having to do each one individually?
TIA

I got another animation rejected for
Interlacing: Clip exhibits noticeable interlacing issues.

I have no idea what this is an how it applies to animated videos done in after effects.

Would anyone be able to explain to me what this is, so I can avoid this in future? I've looked online and there isn't much in regards to animation.

OMG, just had videos rejected - they were supposedly too similar. Has to be AI doing the reviews. I submitted 4 videos with the same background. But with completely different things - one had a plate and knife and fork, another a big recycling sign, and another two with different leaves (colours, size, position). The first one got accepted and the others rejected for being too similar.
I have been submitting anything that is vaguely similar in different batches but I thought this would be sufficiently different. (It happened before with something that was obviously different). Adobe and pond5 have no problems and I submit similar stuff in the same batch and they ever get rejected.

Human eyes wouldn't have said these were similar. Maybe it's the first frame that is reviewed by AI? As this would be identical.

Do u just resubmit?

I find your posts and blog interesting and if anything it's good to get an idea of how someone is doing on microstock.

And like most of us you're trying to earn money - nothing wrong with that, we all have to eat.

I haven't had a refund this month
But I did have a biggish one a while back and it was something that had been sold like 6 months before.
If you buy something in a shop the maximum you get is 30 days normally. How can they do that?
And if people are saying there are refunds over a year ago?
Bonkers.
I'm not uploading to iStock but just leaving the images I have.
It was a particularly good month but this refund malarkey makes me doubt if the money will stay mine!

Hello Uncle Pete,
Yes I can do the reordering, just I'd like to move 2 or more up the list at the same time, rather than doing one and scrolling back down again.

When ordering keywords, in Fotolia you could select a few and move to the top. Is there anyway to do this in Adobe?
It is a small detail but on several files - anything to save time!

I didn't realize the account was in the UK when I set  it up. I live in Spain and being paid in pounds is rubbish, I asked to have it changed and it's not possible. Surely it can't be that difficult?

General Stock Discussion / keywords in adobe not saved
« on: August 17, 2019, 02:55 »
I just titled and keyworded a load of files on the adobe site yesterday and this morning they are all blank (back with the keyword suggestions from adobe).

Is there any way to save the keywording, title, etc?
thanks
Suzie
