Pond5 / Re: Pond5 launches The Public Domain Project

Very interesting... regarding Public domain

I do lot of PD but I upload  ONLY after lots of documentation and ONLY when I'm 100% that the work is in Public Domain. Most times it's a very tricky job  ;)

27
done  :)

28
This is a big reason why I shoot wildlife.

The difference between  $100 and $10.000/ month revenue from stock photography are the models  ;)

29
In Romania 16% after cost deduction.

I was requested payout  from fotolia before 2 weeks ago!? I use moneybookers  (scrill) !
Is this normal time for payment  THERE!! I just can't believe , send 2 messages without any response ???  :o

Is normal.....

123RF / Re: Is 123RF a hostage-taker ?
« on: May 21, 2014, 04:41 »
Agree with you.... 123RF is a small agency that pretty much don' worth the effort..... BUT 123RF has a unique feature : You can download for free your own images at any resolution you want. Considering that my AR there is around 98% , its a good way to have a relative secure way to have an paid online backup option for my images  ;)

32
I am silver on FT. until now I was paid 0.29/ sub. sale (EURO); now is 0.30. 0.3 euro cents *1.30 ( USD/EURO  parity) = 0.39 USD; more that I am paid on SS ( 0.38 $/download)....

So in my case is not bad at all considering that FT is my second earner.  :D

33
I work for ''free'' only in the fallowing situations:

1. Closest family events.
2. Personal photo shoots (but only if they sign a MR)

SS - under Average  ???
DT - excellent month. For the first time has beated FT in earnings.  ;D
FT - under average  :(
123RF - disastrous - 30% compared with prim 2013 ...despite 100% portfolio increases
ALAMY - good month
CANSTOCK - good month... I see a steady monthly increase there
DO - insignificant

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia D-Day (Deactivation Day) - May,1
« on: April 30, 2014, 01:04 »
Fotolia is my second earner; so.... deactivation is OPT OUT in my case. Regarding Dollar photo club... less than 5% are 1 credit sale  ;)

Hi,
It would be interesting to see the percentage of the earnings of some of you in the various agencies!?

Thank you.
Can we see a portfolio??? In some cases going indie is not the right decision...

Shutterstock.com / SS license... advice please
« on: April 03, 2014, 16:08 »
I found one of my images on a site that sell calendars.... I contacted them and they said that the image was bought from SS via RF subscription. Am I wrong or calendars are in the "items for resale" category and requires extended license?

« on: April 02, 2014, 06:21 »
What's the point of handling it special if it is subscription price?

I had one of that two weeks ago..... and 3 weeks ago i had two $27.9 SOD's not EL's  ;)

39
what if someone else finds the same book and takes a picture?

just a question.

I have been contacted in order to sell one of my image to be used as Key Visual on a logo for a mineral water brand. The product will be exclusively sold in southern Germany.

The agency who wants to license my image wants know the price for the Exclusive rights of the image in the category *Non-alcoolic beverage* in the limited region of Southern Germany.

The image in question is : http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-75845188/stock-vector-roman-centurion-brush-helmet-or-galea-vintage-illustration-old-engraved-illustration-of-a-soldier.html?src=DJXVsZwYDQrjxGOHsq2ECg-1-0

They are aware the image was previously sold microstock and that it originates from a late 1800s book (PD).

Is there anyone qualified to give an accurate price for such a transaction? I do not mind paying a % commission for some professional help to close this transaction as I am not used to individually sell license myself :).

Thanks for the help!

I sell also Public Domain images.... My advice: Don't sell the rights of the image....

Reason:

Despite the fact you have the right to sell the image commercially , the image is in PD and everyone who get the hands on that particular book  can photograph the image and sell it.

In case of PD images you have the right to sell high resolutions copies of the image ( even for commercial use) but you don't have the right to sell all the copyrights as the image would be produced by you.

In 2014 i see an increase in SOD compared with 2013.... Not bad SS , not bad at all  ;D

As I understand it, the "sensitive use" is more than just sensitive use, but is mainly the large $ SOD sales. I am opted out because of a few kid and other people pics (Why SS doesn't allow opt out on a model or even per image basis is beyond me). They have requested I allow it for a few images (turn on for the whole port 'til it is dled). which I have done I think 3 times. One resulted in a big sale. All were for images that had nothing to do with sensitive uses. I still get SOD sales w/o opting in, but they tend to be single digit or low double digit sales.

I probably should just deactivate those images that I don't agree to "sensitive" use for and then turn on my port.

SS if you are reading, allow sensitive use opt-out based on model releases or per image or something similar.

Totally agree.... I'm opted OUT because of some baby and mother and baby images. Hope somebody from SS will read this ( and i know they do) and do something.

I've never had anything even close to a S&OD sale that netted me $82.92, on SS or any other site, until today.  It's a shot of my small, experimental pallet vegetable garden:  http://www.shutterstock.com/pic.mhtml?id=146876147 .  I hope it's not gonna turn out to be a mistake or a refund situation.

You are OPT IN for sensitive use license?

why i ask...  have tens of thousands of downloads on SS but NOT EVEN ONE big $ sale. My personal best ''Single &other '' sale was a strange $27.9

Off Topic / Re: Windows XP Support Ends April 8th
« on: March 18, 2014, 05:58 »
Before upgrading my cameras I replaced my PC's and now they running Win 7 pro... Probably i will be upset like you when the support for win 7 will cease (win. 8 is an idiotic program) . But I don't use  XP for couple of years now. the reason is very, very simple : XP see only 3.5GB of RAM and dual core.... In my case is not enough.
