If only a few contributors have received an email from 123 it looks like they've leaked the topic to get some feedback from which to fine tune the up coming new contributor hazing features.
I've only been with them for a few months, got the sales, with a mix of vectors and photos, but not the 150 accepted images. Interesting to see what they come up with - 123rf seems like an OK site.

Alamy.com / Re: Few doubts about Alamy submission
« on: November 30, 2011, 02:16 »
I joined Alamy on 26.11, uploaded my initial images on 27.11 and received confirmation that I passed the Quality Control test on 28.11. I'd say pretty smooth sailing.
but 27-11 was sunday and i dont think they review pix on sunday/weekends...

They must have on done it on Monday 28.11 - I guess.

Professional buyers are OK but an amateur is mostly likely a recipe for trouble.

Panthermedia.net / Re: Watermark - PantherMedia
« on: November 25, 2011, 13:46 »
I'm contributor of PantherMedia for more than one year. I must admit that this site is so confusing that I have never tried to search my images. I did it today and saw their watermark for a very first time.  It is absolutely useless - especially for isolated objects. Was the watermark always the same? I'm not going to upload anymore if it is not changed.

I found the Panther site to be so confusing that I panicked and removed all my images.

123RF / Re: Checking downloads on 123rf
« on: November 23, 2011, 09:12 »
How do we actually check which specific images have been downloaded from our portfolio on 123rf?
It's always been one of those sites I upload to but never really study what's selling there, guess I need to pay more attention now that they are on the rise!

Open your account, go to Sell Images, then select Download.

Anyone know anything about this?
Thanks

They don't accept vectors, but you can upload jpegs of your illustrations.

I gathered my 10 best selling photos for submission to SS only three made the grade.
Made me wonder what next? So I tried 10 vectors - all approved. Most of these vectors have
had 0 sales on other sites but at SS it's a different story. I'm glad I got in!

My first microstock experience was with DT as a buyer and I've never had any problems.

Dreamstime.com / Re: subs taking control of DT ??
« on: October 27, 2011, 06:57 »
Dreamstime pays $1.05 for the level 5 subs.
I just had one a few hours ago of 1.26$ (level 5, exclusive). Many of my level 4-5's are exclusive. (I started a thread on the DT forum some time ago as to why it pays off to make your level 4-5's exclusive there if (and only if) they don't sell well elsewhere). For instance yesterday: Editorial, exclusive : 17 credits (2010) $9.35 = 55% but I had cases of 60% too.

That's a good idea. Thank's for the tip and I agree the Level System at DT is excellent.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia just seems to have increased prices
« on: October 26, 2011, 02:28 »
Oh the agony. The buyer can download 750 images in a month for $199 which is 26 cents per image.

Images used to cost over $199 each.

Wah.

ETA: This illustrates why subscriptions need to be eliminated.

Instead of Subscriptions they should call it the Free Section.
A buyer will have no problem marking up those downloads to get back the 199 dollars and could easily make much more.

I also received one those - Eine Einladung von Shutterstock - messages, here in Finland.
I guess they think we're all multilingual on this side of the Atlantic.

Yeah, looks like they've removed contact info from their site.
Odd bunch?

I also had a 9.80 small sale at CS in August.
Big surprise yesterday, a first time sale for an image - 5 dollar eps with an added 25 dollar EL.
Nice to balance out the subscription sales.

Sounds good. Thanks!

The "not what we are looking for" line from DT used to really bug me, but because most of those files are being downloaded on other sites it really doesn't bother me too much anymore.

123RF / Re: Alex from 123 is around here?
« on: September 28, 2011, 04:48 »
Could I just butt into this and mention that, if I want to see which image just sold, I have to:

1.  Leave the monthly page I keep open to refresh and check the daily rate increase.
2.  Scroll to the footer at the bottom of the page and click 'More'
3.  Select 'Download' from the page I arrive at.
4.  Scroll to the bottom of that page to find the last page number on the list for that month.
5.  Click that page number and scroll through to see which images sold that day

... and they don't appear in sequential order, so then I have to try to remember which ones I've already seen to spot the new image(s).

That is FAR more longwinded than on any other agency I belong to, and surely it's a very obvious thing for contributors to want quick access to.

Unless of course I'm making things hard for myself and have missed something blindingly obvious.  :)

I'd love to be able to just click on today's date, on the earnings page, and immediately see the downloads for that day.

Apologies PedroV, for butting in.  I'll butt out again now.

So that's how you do it!
I'll give it a try.

I don't understand the logic here - the more images a subscriber downloads daily the less a contributor gets?

Adobe Stock / Re: Vector file uploading problems at Fotolia
« on: September 23, 2011, 02:27 »
If you're on a Mac, you should just use their built in one. Just hold down Control and click on the file and select Compress. I used to use Dropstuff, but had problems with it. Or you can probably still submit SVG files too.

I didn't know it was built in the Mac.
It's working for me now. Problem solved. Much appreciated!

Illustration - General / Re: Anyone having good luck at Veer?
« on: September 23, 2011, 01:19 »
Neutral backgrounds are selling well but I haven't had any illustration sales.

I'm new as a contributor to stock images, but I've been buying the stuff for over 30 years.
So far Veer has been my best selling site, not in numbers but my RPD this month is 13.65 usd.
My average RPD is 7.46 usd - getting close to my first payout from microstock.

Adobe Stock / Re: Vector file uploading problems at Fotolia
« on: September 22, 2011, 06:29 »
Sounds like it's to do with the way the zip file was created/ saved rather than the eps or jpeg therein.
Have you tried using a different program to do the zipping?

I've been using DropStuff. Could be time to download a new version.
Thanks

Adobe Stock / Vector file uploading problems at Fotolia
« on: September 22, 2011, 03:54 »
I've not been able to get a vector file uploaded to Fotolia. I've met all of their file specfications Zip archives and all the rest. Their support has looked into the problem but seems they're not interested in closure on this one.

This is the message I get:
Errors
Unable to upload file: Archive.zip, reason: Format [AppleDouble encoded Macintosh file] not supported

I was wondering if anyone had similar problems or perhaps a solution?

New Sites - General / Re: VectorStock launch new website

They need to launch a new pricing structure.

So true, but until then contributors should play hard to get.

Veer / Re: Joining Veer

The uploading process at Veer is light years ahead of agencies like PantherMedia.
Veer also doesn't nickel and dime you like most other sites.

New Sites - General / Re: VectorStock Redesign
« on: July 15, 2011, 15:48 »
I was in there for a while and was selling, but then I did the math and realized something wasn't right.
The redesign looks fine but please don't upload there!

What exactly wasn't right?

25 cents times 400 downloads to get a payout - doesn't seem right to me.

If you have to beg them to raise image value from 1 to 3 credits - come on.
