Lets start this way

Just to make sure we have a two-way connection (testing) go into your images, and mass-edit them and add the generic keyword "graphic"

I'll do the same - that way we know we have a mutual search going on.

In your site, in Network add http://www.xyzai.com/ exactly.

Go to xyzai.com's admin area and add yours. If yours is non-root, do http://www.mysite.com/wordpress/ or whatever your path is called.

That is it. Mutual results should show for graphic.

Some minor problems with categories - I add 3 children to Transport, but when I list them later from 'Image Categories' it inserts them randomly and doesnt show them as children:

   Concepts (0)
· Traffic (0)
· Food | Drink (0)
· Health (0)
· Trucks & Cars (0)
· Events (0)
· Landscape (0)
· Miscellaneous (0)
· Nature (0)

also, it displays the slug when you click on a category:

http://www.buydigpix.com/cascoly/image-categories/

click on Hot Air Balloons & you get:
Images in category: "Hotairballoons"

-----------------------
would be nice to have a (default?) option for users to see only categories with > 0 images, so we can create categories that may not immediately have images in them

Categories are now working *exactly* how you want them to. Checking on some other issues now..

Partial success. On my site (http://photomining.com/q/) I get results from yours but not vice versa. Also on your site I can see the first 4 pages of results, but after that I get a coe page that looks like "view source" results.

-edit, after a long time loading, I get (again on your site) the Warning: error messages I've seen in other threads. Could be because of my subdomain?

Leo Blanchette

Nope! Works fine. I just had a stupid http://test thrown in there.

farbled

Oooooooh.

I'm liking this. I have tried for years to sell photos on my site using freeware shopping carts but always had so many issues trying to do everything. Thanks so much for doing all the work on this. It is exactly what I've been looking for. All that's left for me is ensuring my paypal stuff is up to snuff, then finding some great portfolios to link to.

Leo Blanchette

Yeah, just promise when everything is satisfactory you can create twice as many "its working" threads to crowd out the bug / broken ones  ;D

chromaco

Leo, don't worry about all these bug threads. I am excited to get started on my new site with symbiostock even though my current site sells pretty well. I just don't have the time right now. I know I'm not the only one reading every single one of these posts so I can learn. This concept is huge and has potential to dramatically create change in the industry. Don't get discouraged, people are behind you. I'll hire my own web guy to debug this for me if I need to because I think this idea is important enough.

No worries there, I seem to be a prolific poster today. Plus I have another niche which will get it's own site as well. This is great!

Thanks. The encouragement is good! And it is moving forward.

I'll be sure to leave plenty of bugs and give you my business card  ;D

Do me a favor - can you update your network branding pics so I can make sure they show on my results? I still see symbiostock icons

Leo Blanchette

Yep! And there are some nice links at the top of the page to the template files (with credit links inside)

farbled

Done for now. I'll try and be more creative tomorrow.

Leo Blanchette

Awesome! So cool to see a genuine network search (not just my localhost and controlled settings) I had to take a screenshot!

I promise to take care of you when I get my site up. I'll pay for add ons or if you have a place for donations I will happily contribute. Thanks for all you are doing.

Perhaps we all could agree to send Leo a small percentage (5-10%) of our first 20 sales?

Don't even worry about that. I have a plan on making money - donation soliciting doesn't even factor in.

1. Charging non-essential upgrades and cool stuff.
2. Hosting referrals.
3. Selling PicturEngine® plugin and getting commissions on that.
4. Selling company once its established. Its officially my game-plan.

chromaco

OK, just make sure you are taking care of yourself. Thanks again

Leo Blanchette

But much appreciated! I'm glad to see people are still excited.

By the way - gonna be making a plugin so your search results get included here: http://www.picturengine.com/

Its in the works. I believe its a $10 a month fee, and their really on top of their game.

Easy project. Hopefully once all the bases are covered.

Leo Blanchette

I think the main problems really are diminishing now. Fixing a category thing and some other things.

In case anyone missed it:

Go to my testing site http://www.xyzai.com/

name: testme
password: microstockgroup

Upload images, delete them...network to your site...search...set options....

Then come back and report.

This site is living proof that things work in the right environment.

So there's a meet in the middle thing that has to happen: Symbiostock's functionality has to be a little more accommodating to more constrictive hosting environments, and people have to find less constrictive hosting environments at a decent price.

I've asked one of my more qualified contacts for some help on the image processor and getting it more compatible with more constrained environments.

Today is a special day! We've started incrementing version numbers. 1.1.1 is where we start.

3/30/13 - updated testing theme - please download - fixed categories to show child/parent relationships and no bugs plus some other things I can't remember.

ajt

I installed Symbiostock three times so far, and once I installed Theme Updater first, as it was mentioned somewhere. Symbiostock instaled after it had network tab blank  and some Save buttons on other tabs were not working. Next install, without Theme Updater, was ok.

Updater theme = bad. I had meant to incorporate automatic updates from github through that but it didn't work - never deleted the readme. I wonder how many headaches I caused that way.

Please let it be alternative currency  :)

Do you think this will be an option or am I the only one asking for it Leo?  Not keen on going live in USD

Leo Blanchette

Ok. Forgive me - whats involved? Changing dollar sign to another sign?

It would need changing the currency sign shown, and the currency code sent to Paypal.
