it's normal here (payoneer)

I think he earns good amount of money.. I saw his clips many times when I visited P5 resources page>best this month

There are no longer capable agencies for selling this type of material. Getty doesn't care if the image is a RM seascape or a an exclusive image of the first alien creature discovered by you. They will make the same silly discount and they will sell that unique image for cents sometimes, small figures most times and maybe a larger figure once in a while.

100% true.. I was very happy when Getty called me to be a contributor 3 months ago. Later I uploaded some of my best clips (I'm video only) as exclusive, many of those are completely unique. This type of shots I usually price at 500-1000$ at Pond5 and get some sales almost every month there.
I was completely surprised that most Getty sales are under 25$ for those clips, and what I get for selling 5 unique clips there is less then what I get for one sale at SS!! I don't say at P5, but at SS!!
I wrote to the support yesterday to close my account, and I hope this nightmare ends soon

A comparison of footage sales between Adobe Fotolia and Shutterstock. Who is better?

My sales at Adobe Fotolia are practically at zero. At Shutterstock my footage sales are great. Others?
Same experience here

159

Pond5 - 3 sales RPD $22.38
..
iStock - 13 sales RPD $5.74

Good work, but I think your rpd at Pond5 should be at least 35$ (mine is 57$), if the same content is selling well at SS you will earn more by rising your prices at P5.
Also I believe you should remove your account from Istock, their video rates are humiliating (I did that long time ago and now I'm really happy for that)

sales are normal here

Are payoneer currency rates better than paypal?

Payoneer is better for countries other than US and European Union (Middle east, China, Afghanistan, Eastern Europe..)

162
84 needed to reach 500!

77 now..
I hope this petition will make SS respond to that old request

General Stock Discussion / Re: StockSubmitter alternative?
« on: September 26, 2016, 00:15 »
Thanks for your reply, this software is no doubt great but when I was looking at their pricing, to me it look over-priced
I was looking for unlimited upload plan which costed EUR 60 / month or $810 USD if I look for 1 year subscription.

Now that's overprice (what I think), I am basically a vector designer and even the Adobe CC subscription for Illustrator is less. Thinking for the microstock, everyone knows that the the market is declining and earnings are going down. So charging so much money for subscription is too much for any individual. I have few 1000s of files which I have to upload in various agencies and maximum agencies perform poorly. Say my depositphotos earning for 1 year is around $60 even I have ~3k files.
I understand that lot of development is put in and its really an amazing tool for speeding the process and I really want to use it if they lower their prices.
If all your files have the required Metadata you should be able to submit all your images in one month or two then switch your subscription to a lower type or even to the free one, this way you will save a huge amount of time

VideoBlocks / Re: The thing that bothers me with VideoBlocks.

Overall I like VideoBlocks. The 100% is obviously great, the $49 for HD is ok, and the site is pretty user friendly.

However, there's one thing that I really do hate about VideoBlocks, and that's the way they market their subscriptions. They'll send out non stop emails saying that there's a special offer of $99 (which is 90% off) for a year, and that you need to hurry as this offer will expire in two days or three days or whatever.

The thing is, the offer never expires. It just starts again as soon as the last one ends. I'd be very surprised if anybody has paid the $1000 a year that they're insinuating the subscription should cost. And if it is, always has been, and probably always will be $99, then surely it's not 90% off... as the regular price is $99?

Maybe I'm getting worked up over nothing, but it just feels like some kind of sleazy used car salesman tactic... or those shops that always have closing down sales but they never close down. I'm surprised they're not giving away a set of kitchen knives if you order today!

Although, they do have 'proper sales' form time to time when it's $49 or something. They should keep those, and do away with the constant bombarding of non-existent sale. It sounds cheap and it feels cheap and I'm sure it's not that appealing to professional organisations who could be potential buyers.

Surely presenting it as one, consistent, transparent, low price for a quality offering... is better than using the kind of sales tactics that appeal to customers of late night shopping channels and get rich quick schemes? "But wait! There's more..."

Anyway, just wanted to get that out of my system. Peace out.

They heard you, it's now 84% off and 149$ per year

I've never put too much stock in the map... my last couple of sales must have been from ships captains, pirates or oil rigs, as they're somewhere in the Atlantic.

Heheh... me too, but it's all about VB taxing everything

VideoBlocks / Re: The thing that bothers me with VideoBlocks.

So yeah, on Envato, if you've filled in the W8 then you won't have tax withheld on non-US sales. Based on the amount of info provided and preparation Envato did to get people ready for it, I'm going to assume that Envato are doing it correctly. Either way, they can't both be right, so one of them is withholding (or not withholding) taxes incorrectly.

@alijaber, how do you know what countries your VB sales are from?

I don't know really, but after years of watching SS map, I know that my buyers are mostly EU and Middle eastern.. almost all my content is related to Middle Eastern countries and for sure it's impossible that all buyers on VB are from US, that's why I'm complaining from getting tax on all my sales there

VideoBlocks / Re: The thing that bothers me with VideoBlocks.

Have you not filled out a W8 form?

Yes, they don't give payout without that (I think that).. they have to take 33% from my country's residents, but I don't know why they do that with non US sales.. I've e-mailed them long ago and they told me that they don't know how SS and Ft manage taxes this way and that they have to do it this way.. sometimes I feel suspicious about VB, if they take that 33% it would be huge income for them

What really bothers me is this 33% tax on all my sales: US and non US, unlike all other agencies. For me I get more with regular P5 sales (50%=39$) than those from VB (100%=33$), that's the real sadness

Well, to be fair, Pond5 should be doing the tax thing too... Don't know why they aren't forced to already.

That's won't change things much for me if it will be on US sales only, like SS and Ft. On SS a little part of my sales is from US, the majority comes from Europe, Middle East than the rest of world.. I wouldn't mind P5 taxes on US sales if VB removes taxes on non US sales.. Last month was my BME on VB (25 sales!), so you can imagine my disappointment when I saw taxes numbers

Here is mine: http://www.shutterstock.com/video/video.html?id=8026351
This is the most downloaded.. but not the one that gave me the highest earning  ;)

173
I'll recheck in case they changed the limit but it was a 50 characters limit on their website.

Regarding metadata: if you write metadata directly to the video files then the program won't be able to read it (it's not supported yet but it's planned).
The program reads only the metadata stored in JPEG previews.

Aha, thanks. Stock video is  growing fast and it's nice to see more support for video.
By the way, your software is superb!!

174
Also stocksubmitter doesn't read my metadata (IPTC) that I made in Bridge, is this normal?
Video only here (mp4, mov)
Thanks for help Niakris

175
hmmm.. are you sure about that?
looking at my uploaded files there I never saw a reduced filename there
