VideoBlocks / Any photo sales?
« on: March 01, 2018, 19:25 »
I stopped uploading my photos because of zero sales.  I'll wait till it's worth my time to upload photos there.

Not really.

It's the Olympic.  Usually it slows down during Olympic.

I do a lot of surreal stuff so I can't just shoot it sadly. I need lots of layers ...

Beautiful images don't always sell in stock video/photo business.

181
It just wasn't worth it anymore. I uploaded lots of new work in the beginning of 2017 and nothing new was downloaded. Some of my photos require hours of editing so when they don't see the light of day, it becomes counter-productive.

I'm quality over quantity so micro just wasn't for me. I can't compete with huge factories.

I'm sure eventually my revenue will fall but it was decreasing anyway (now leveling out) with or without new uploads.

You may be editing your material too much.

182
I don't have specific stats for you but I stopped uploading to micro near the end of 2017. Maybe that says something.
I'm still making around the same per month despite no new content. Congrats to everyone seeing increases!

You'll probably keep increasing revenue if you keep uploading, but good luck.

183
Never heard of it.

Royalties down 21% in 2017, portfolio size increased 25% - 30% (SS & P5; others more, but they're low contributors).

That's after 7 consecutive years of increasing royalties; clearly my days are numbered.

Sorry to hear that.

185
Up 22% from 2016.

Cool!!  Did you add a lot of new contents?  by how many %?

186
14% up thanks to Alamy Adobe and oddly Envato Elements with their bonus scheme.

Even after dropping iStock in March 2017 I still did better.

However Depositphotos, Bigstock, Canstock were suspiciously almost identical 2017 to 2016

Shutterstock and Dreamstime were down. Shutterstock are just on a slide at 7% down and 2016 was almost identical to 2015 even after increasing the portfolio by 45% :(

Thanks for detailed info!  Did you add any new contents last year?  If so, how many %?

187
I earned 23 % more than 2016. Mostly because on many agencies my ports are still tiny and increasing them makes a big difference.

Congrats!  How much % new contents did you add?

188
Up 5% much to my surprise.  I think 2018 will be the first year to have a decrease.

Did you add any contents in 2017?  If so, by how many %?  Usually, more % contents you add, more % sales increase.

Just 1 response despite 147 views??

Percentages don't mean anything.  10% could mean you made 10 cents more than in 2016 if you made $1.  That means for this thread to bring any insights, if at all, people wold have to post dollars and I doubt you will find any takers.  For whatever it's worth my income was up 7% over 2016.

I had an impression that your sales have been decreasing every year because you constantly are complaining about how things are bad in this business.  LOL.  Good to know your sales actually went up.

I didnt get started until mid 2016, but I still made around $1,000 by the end of the year. My return per download nearly tripled  in 2017 though.

I doubled the size of my port but my earnings went up to around $6,500. Almost at $1,000 this year as well so off to a faster start.

Some of this growth is probably due to the time it took for my port to become established, so hard to know whether things are getting better yet.

Should have some idea at the end of this year though.

Cool!  You are on a good pace to steady growth.  Keep adding new and diverse contents may be the key.

It's called "0% commission system".

So you felt, you need to open new topic about it? Probably about 639439349 topics about "no sales" already.

However today they are correct. No sales. There's been a technical problem that resulted in sales appearing and disappearing for the first half of the day followed by nothing at all.

Jon Oringer confirmed the issue had been identified and they were in the process of resolving it but no data was lost.... they just need to rebuild "Daily Earnings". Starting to see the sales filter through now.

People who spot these issues shouldn't be ridiculed but thanked.... as it is those people who highlight problems that are then resolved rather than go unnoticed.

I agree with you.

196
There are a lot of factors in play today.  Technical glitch that may or may not be fixed already.  Stock market crashing and possibly starting recession.
Making America great again!  >:(

LOL

"Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the posts.

We are aware of the situation and we are working on it!

Thanks in advance for your patience while we are working to resolve this issue."

Is it fixed?

What have you've been smoking?

I'm sorry if I hurt your feeling.  I apologize.
