iStockPhoto.com / Re: Illustrative getting rejected
« on: October 05, 2016, 23:05 »
The forums are not always easy to navigate.    I have done searches and found nothing.  Was not a matter of not spending time looking.  Thankfully several members here we helpful and sent me where I needed to be and / or made constructive suggestions.

« on: October 04, 2016, 09:49 »
Make sure that you have done your tax form and that you have chosen payment method.  Double check on the payment method  I did not get paid and had done payment method -- but it had disappeared.  No problems since that delay with first payment.

I have property releases of my own pets.  Not only are the property owner and name of photographer the same but under pets' names I have included : [ name of species] and "belonging to photographer" and one agency made me update it with a new one every year.

Do I need to create an account on Adobe stock to do this?  I use Adobe PS LR etc but only Adobe stock via Fotolia?

The ability to edit and correct typos would be reason enough to crate an acct and then synch.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Uploads through DeepMeta not working today?
« on: September 15, 2016, 15:52 »
I have been having uploading images today on Istock-- not using Depp Meta and uploading one by one via web form.  I keep getting a busted image icon...but yet the images do go to unfinished files.

I think a lot depends on images and the style of imagery.  My results are not the same as the list order.

Each agency might have a different set of clients.  Some might like bright happy images, others darker images with richer color.  I now that some sites reject some of my images for not artistic or commercial appeal-- bit those mages do sell well with other agencies.  Some of my images get ejected for cropping but in an artistic way the crop does work and sells well on other sites.  Perhaps that sight has clients looking for something more cutting edge that the typical formula?

In any case, my sales volume do not follow the order of this list.  Some Low earners are much better for me than middle tier as well.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Uploading errors-- busted image icon
« on: September 15, 2016, 13:32 »
It is working on and off-- more off than on.

On step 3 of 3 where you title and keyword in he upper left where the image is supposed to be instead there is an icon that denotes busted image-- meaning the image did not male it to Istock or there is no image there.  It is not a matter for image to finish uploading but signifies image never made it even though Istock has moved from step 2 to 3 already.

I am having to reload the image over and over, about 5-8 times it seems for it to work   Not sure it is worth uploading to site until fixed.

I reported bug anyhow.

My 2nd best agency.  I too like the FT sales that are more than the paltry 25 cents with many other agencies.

« on: September 08, 2016, 11:52 »
I think the horrible weekend reviewer on SS are now working for Bigstock.  Every once in a while I get that person who rejects everything (inc. ones accepted at SS and elsewhere).

Coming from an artist background, I find the poor lighting rejection on SS sometimes helpful and at other times annoying esp. as my more artistic use of light sells well on another stick agency.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Logos
« on: July 26, 2016, 17:13 »
ok thanks, I will take out the logo.

Wow, the implications of branding some living thing with a logo from a medical device is really creepy!!!  So in effect, the living being loses their rights to autonomy simply by wearing a device.

I am not talking about a photo of the logo but a photo of the person or animal going about their life with the medical device that has a tiny logo on it (from company not opposed to medical device being photographed or photos sold of patient going about their life with device and willing to sign release).

Is it ok to sell images with a logo if the owner of company oks logo being used and signs property release?

Medical device company verbally oked me using and selling photos with device and I am gong to mail them property release forms before actually doing it.  Probably will remove logo anyhow to make the photo for more general usage but sometimes,  the photos look better with the logo than with it removed.

Adobe Stock / Re: Strange acceptance / rejection emails
« on: June 18, 2016, 22:37 »
yes if the image is declined, then they go into free section for acceptance or rejection.  If you do not want t give away images, make sure the default does not change on you because it does.  The only way hen is to delete them unless hey remove it for you once.  It has chaned on my from No to yes on free section in he middle of an upload session so double check.

Bigstock.com / Re: Instant review
« on: June 14, 2016, 22:15 »
Screaming fast review times,  mostly fair reviews and accurate secific reasoning for rejection that helps one improve.   For a short time they seemed to have a reviewer or two who rejected everything but now more equal to most other sites.  They accept some others reject and reject others some accept but not one extreme or the other like some can do.

My sales there are about the same as they are at SS actually.  Not as much as my top 2 but not bad esp. since I stopped uploadig there for a short time when they were having issues with uploads.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Rejection zoological
« on: June 10, 2016, 17:26 »
Write a note explaining where it was taken (wilds of AK) and no property release needed and attach the note as you would a property release.  Even better, if you happen to have a panorama kind of view of the area where they were taken,  add lettering to the image explaining that.  I have done this for both wild animals not at zoos and sporting events held at parks (took picture of park before equipment there) and that helped the reviewer make the distinction.  Somewhere on their forum a reviewer gave this suggestion and it really helped me.

The default changes quite often to me, even within the middle of individual uploading.  Once they might fix it for you. Then you have to delete the image and reload before they review it to keep it from going to free if declined.  Wastes a lot of time and sometimes I have not bothered to reupload.

The problem has been going on ever since I joined.  I have given hope of it ever being fixed.

194
I do not agree with the not suitable for commercial use some sites use to tag some images.  I have had some of those become good sellers with other agencies.    Sometimes one can learn from rejections and other times, it just better to move on and put more effort into the agencies that click best with one's work.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: review times?
« on: May 11, 2016, 18:32 »
Takes about a week maybe 10 days.  If they are in pending like that for a while for me, often seems to be due to reviewers thinking there is a copyright issue on what I photographed (building or they notice writing on a dog tag even though I have a property release for the dog and submitted it).

Adobe Stock / Re: confused reviewers?
« on: April 29, 2016, 12:10 »
I had that happen.  Check-- sometimes it is for files that were rejected and the 2nd notice is an approval/rejection for the free file section.

If you do not want your files in the for FREE section, it is very important to check each and every one because the default changes to yes quite often without us ever doing anything.  I wish thy would fix that.  If they are for free, about all you can do o prevent that is delete them.

« on: April 28, 2016, 12:21 »
I am due to be paid this month.  Made the cut off, money was withdrawn from balance at beginning of the month.  In one place they say payment on the 20th give or take and another place around the 25th.  Still no payment in Paypal.  I now it is automatic.  I did the tax info right.  So now what?

I received a fairly speedy response over an issue with editorial credentials (a couple of days) and all is taken care of weeks before next event.  :-)

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy- Any success??
« on: April 21, 2016, 16:01 »
I do not mind Alamy's keywording process.  I like the next and previous image directions.  Much easier than the agencies where you web upload and have to go one by one without being ale to see the others uploaded in same batch.
