It doesn't surprise me and shouldn't surprise any one of us. We are photographers and know how photoshop works.
Best way to keep your skin healthy...stay out of the sun and when you do go out there make sure you wear sunglasses to keep those crows feet away...That's my beauty product...lol

Donna,
I see many empty areas there. Congrats. I should be using my column tomography for something too. Maybe to compete with you in Zazzle.
Heh that brain is damaged...what can I say... I sell the crap out of this on Shutterstock

They have to verify the information. Nothing major

I've gotten one too and I'm in the US. Actually a business is suppose to get a new signed W-9 every year to verify that the information has not changed. That's always been the rule. Payments go to a paypal account and not to a physical address and I'm sure they have had a lot of 1099 forms returned to them for not having updated information. Actually it's a good business practice although not every business follows these rules.

Maybe the reason these people are reporting not being paid is because they have not submitted their W-9. I just got a e-mail asking to submit mine and in the e-mail it clearly says "For compliance reasons, we're required to have a completed W-9 form from you on file so we can process a 1099 tax form at the end of the year and provide you with a copy for your own tax reporting. The 1099 form will indicate your total income from Shutterstock for the year and is also filed with the IRS. For this reason, we cannot process any payments to you until we have your completed W-9 on file." So that could be the reason for the rumor starting over in the Shutterstock forum... It could also be they didn't reach minimum payout. Just My Opinion ...

I don't see a problem with it as long as you don't photograph them in a provocative way. I don't really see how it would embarrass them. If they are a child...by the time they are in high school, no one would really recognize them unless the teenager told them.

I recently got a Nikon D7000. I also have Photoshop CS3, which I use for editing, but it can't read the Nef files from the D7000 so have to convert them to DNG to edit in PS3. I don't have Lightroom so really am not familiar with it. I don't want to pay the price for PS5. My understanding is Lightroom will open the NEF files without having to convert..correct me if I'm wrong.
So my question is what do you use most with editing...Photoshop or Lightroom?

They link back to Dreamstime. They look like they are photos in their free section.

I'm pretty sure Photographers Direct wouldn't want anything to do with you if they knew you were also selling anything in microstock.
they mostly sell editorial, nothing to with patterns or backgrounds.
As Sue pointed out, they don't want anything to do with anyone who deals with microstock at all.
I seem to recall someone on here talking about Photographers Direct and they ended up getting canned by PD and it wasn't me. I use to do PD many years ago before microstock...as a matter of fact the first picture I ever sold was through them....BUT the requests you get...ALL members get...not just you. So you're not getting special treatment. You are competing against all of them and the ones who pay for the unlimited website membership gets first dibs on the requests. You can get 1000 e-mails and if you are lucky you might sell a photo to one of them. After 3 years with them submitting to request after request...I only sold three pictures.....for the total of $380.00 then you have to deal with the customers on top of that and hope they pay...which I had two more requests that the people never payed. I make more on microstock in a year than I did on there in 3 years. Just so you know....

i recently joined Photographer's Direct, take a look at their recent sale prices :
http://www.photographersdirect.com/sellers/buyerslist.asp
no sales so far but it's an interesting alternative niche, we'll see how it goes.
You're joking right??? Don't you know one of their policy rules is that you don't do microstock!

I quit uploading after the commission cuts and deleted 3/4 of my portfolio there. I only left the good sellers in case they ever came back to life, but I'm not seeing it. I haven't resumed uploading and probably won't. It's just to much of a hassle for to little money. Unfortunately microstock in general is becoming to much of a hassle for to little money...

It was at 2:30 yesterday, central standard time USA. Contributor support said offline, but sales and service was online. I also got the e-mail. Is there anyway I can get the whole port deleted without having to go one by one. The e-mail I got told me how to delete them one by one then contact support after that.
Forget it. I did it and I'll wait for payout then close the account.

I had a very small port there. Only 272 images. I quit uploading a long time ago. Anymore I only mess with the ones that make money. All the others just sit on the wayside til payout then I bail. Of course Shutterstock blows them all out of the water. Actually this month was one of my best at 123RF....4 sales for a total of $5.75. I usually only have 1 maybe two a month....terrible.
I tried the favs...didn't work for me. I also tried to do live chat....sales and support were live, but not contributor support, so they said I had to e-mail support. So I've e-mailed them..haven't heard back yet.

They send you the money on 15th of the next month. Just like Veer and Shutterstock (which sends earlier than 15th). 123rf does good for me, I get almost no rejections and they sell quite well. The only thing that bothers me is their minimum 6mpix resolution.
I know a lot of people have had real good luck with them, but I'm not one of them. Some sites do better with certain types of pictures. Fotolia was terrible for me also, but Bigstock is good for me. It seems like people who have good luck with Fotolia also do good with 123RF.

Now question number two. I finally found a place where they talk about payout. I don't have to request it? They automatically send it out?
Yes, they send payment automatically. It's usually between the 15th and the 21st of the month.
Thanks...now I can go back to doing what I was doing rather than digging through 123RF trying to figure out where and how to do it....Thanks

I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking, why are you leaving 123RF?
Well I've been with them for two and a half years and just reached payout. A lot of their rejections were always my best sellers on the other sites. I can't blame it all on that but I think that may have had a lot to do with it. I quit uploading to them quite awhile ago. I'm sure I won't be missed.....lol

I can't figure out how to delete my port at 123RF. I finally reached payout and want them removed before I request it but can't figure out how to do it.

Bigstock sales are 10 times better than 123RF.
thats incredible, the changes between contributors, ok portfolio, buyers and so on but I have like 5 to 10 sales a month at BigStock and on 123RF I got like 60
I really think it has a lot to do with content also and where you are. What part of the world are you from? I'm in the US

I personally have not had a good experience with them. Bigstock sales are 10 times better than 123RF. I maybe get two small sales out of 123 a month if I'm lucky. The sad thing is they always rejected the ones that iStock, Dreamstime, Shutterstock and Bigstock accepted and I have good sales on, so the port I have there is mainly a non selling port. I gave up uploading a long time ago. It's their loss as well as mine. Just waiting for payout and then I'm gone.

I don't see a huge rush of incoming agencies, but perhaps there are enough to sell a few at $700?
Many want-a-bees never get off the ground but invest tons of money in start-up costs; if they purchase a product for $700 but never go online, you still made a sale.
How to make hundreds on Microstock... Sell a book on how to make hundreds on Microstock.
Don't you mean hundreds of pennies from microstock??
