Yes, and others just over $1.00 and $1.40 as you mentioned. Adobe Stock has started 2024 really great for me and way in the lead. So far I feel like Adobe is the ONLY site that is rewarding the work I put into microstock.
Oh, good to hear. Is there any policy change on Royalty structure? I wondered if I moved up a ladder based on total number of sales or something. Meanwhile, Shutterstock royalty is back to the lowest tier. lol
The royalty rate remains at 33% of the price paid per asset. The price paid varies based on the plan the customer has committed to. -Mat Hayward

Hi Mat,
that is good to read that at least it is on the todo list for the team.
If you ever need beta testers...
I am a big fan of sorting a port into sensible galleries to make it easier for customers.
The best version I ever saw was on twenty20, unfortunatly taken over and closed down.
Their gallery system was very intutitive and inspiring.
I spent hours browsing various galleries, it had great suggestive features.
Also created many public galleries with mixed content from different artists around a theme.
Many people love to create collections, pinterest thrives on that.
The editing talent in the wider community has never been intelligently tapped by any agency (except twenty20).
Please consider to create a useful interface for "collectors" that will dive into the Adobe collection and create beautiful and very useful public galleries.
Algorithms can only do so much.
Allow the editing talent of the community to surprise and impress you. They are an asset class on their own that should be nurtured and welcomed.
eta
Or buy pinterest and find a useful way to integrate it
To clarify, I didn't say this is on a "to do" list. I wrote that I have requested this upgrade to the portal. I cannot say whether it will happen or not in the future. I'll keep fighting the good fight though -Mat Hayward

I had the same problem. But it only affected 4 vector graphics that have been online for many years. Mat has ensured that the "AI generated" has now disappeared.
Please be sure to check that and confirm @Wilm. If anyone else faces the same issue, please contact support using the contact us link at the bottom of the contributor portal. thank you, Mat Hayward

How important is to add keywords to image metadata? I can do that from my computer, but not from my iPad (most of my illustrations are made on iPad) It it ok if I dont add metadata to my images?
You must add a title and at least 5 keywords before you can submit. It doesn't matter if you embed them in the metadata before upload, or if you add them in the contributor portal after you upload. It must be done. Not only is it required, it's by far the most effective way to get your content seen and sold.
-Mat Hayward
Thank you Mat for your reply. I have another question: I see that numerous other accounts/people copied my description and keywords exactly word to word from my best sellers. Is that allowed?
We don't display the keywords added by the contributor in Adobe Stock. Instead, what is displayed is a list of recommended search terms that may produce results relevant to the subject the customer is looking for. -Mat Hayward

If Adobe would allow us to search our own images with keywords, I would maybe use the gallery system more. But like this it is a little tedious to create a new gallery then manually go over all the pages to find files.
I agree, it's a clunky system as it is. Better than it was initially, but it still needs work. I've got requests in to the development team to allow for keyword searches within the dashboard, and to allow contributors to select the hero image for each collection. It's simply not a top priority at this time so I don't expect this to change any time in the near future, but I do bring it up when the opportunity presents itself. We appreciate the feedback, thank you. -Mat Hayward

based on previous years it's too early for any announcement - last year's was late Feb(?) and credits in early March (?) - dates may be off by a week or so
i won a bet last year against those who thought the program would be canceled - anyone want to take the bet this year & buy me a few americanos?
I wouldn't take that bet Though I would be happy to buy you a cup of coffee if we meet in person. -Mat Hayward

Just wanted to double check before I went ahead.
Thanks
Make sure you count the stars and the stripes. Check carefully for any deformities or inaccurate details. Flags can be very tricky with generative AI. -Mat Hayward

Because I'm worried about having the account blocked, I ask. How can I mark sensitive content when uploading so that the AS employee doesn't block the account while image selection. So where's the checkbox for "adult content"? Don't see any... Other sites have a simple checkbox.
Especially if Mat reads here, it would be great to get an answer. Examples: 1. overweight man in gym while biting in a hamburger (discriminatory, and everyone is so super sensitive these days) 2. naked woman in the shower, breasts visible (clearly adult content)
As per the submission guidelines: "For submissions containing nudity that has artistic value, the model must be at least 18 years old and the model release must include the model's photo ID so we can verify age. Never submit any sexually explicit, pornographic, or immoral material, including material that sexualizes minors. "https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/submission-guidelines.html-Mat

I think Mat means "there is now a checkbox" not "there is not a checkbox".
I'm sure you are right and that is most definitely what he meant Fixed it. -Mat

Mat, Now that Gen AI is allowed for video submissions, would the same guidelines apply for videos in terms of when to tag as Gen. AI?
Good question. For "AI" video - I didn't actually see any way to select an "ai" video for a submission, would one just add 'gen ai' to it? (I haven't actually made any 'gen ai' video - but I've noticed some people have 'ai video' submitted, and was curious how one would submit that). Thanks!
Hi Synthetick. Please refer to the generative AI guidelines for specific details on what is and is not allowed. @Superphoto, there is now a checkbox for videos and vectors made with generative AI software. Please see this thread for the update: https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/adobe-stock-requirement-for-generative-ai-video-clips-and-vectors/msg595935/?topicseen#newThanks, Mat Hayward

So...
a) For actual photos (not genAI)... Do you "need" keep the meta data in the images? I submitted a batch of high quality photographs - and "all" were rejected... (I had cleaned out the meta data, i.e., what camera was used, and other details)... was that just laziness on the reviewers part (i.e., did they just "assume" it was genAI because of no meta data, so just rejected it), or what was going on - do I "need" to leave that data in? Extremely frustrating, as I had waited quite some time for them to be processed...
b) When I do some of the genAI,I do take the time to remove extra fingers, logos, make sure the composition is correct, etc... I realize there are probably many that don't (seeking 'genAI' riches with no work/editing/etc)... HOWEVER... it's also frustrating when it seems you get a lazy reviewer - that rejects 90%-95% of a batch that required a lot of time consuming editing to make sure it looked good... Matt, could you please fix that?
Thanks very much!
Removing metadata such as camera details would have zero impact on moderation results. The quality of the asset is the top criteria when it comes to image reviews. Without seeing the content you are referencing, I can only assume there were issues with the files and that the moderators got it right. I'm certainly open to being proven wrong and would encourage you to share a couple of examples here. -Mat Hayward

If I understand the submission requirements for generative AI submissions:
1. If I have a model released image and I use the GenAI tools in photoshop to extend the background, I should not mark the image as Generative AI?
2. If I have say a model released image with a model on a white background (or in any environment for that matter) and I use GenAI tools in Photoshop to totally create/replace an environment (e.g.: room, outdoors) around the model. I would submit the image with a model release but I should or should not mark it as GenAI?
Thanks
It's very difficult to speculate and answer a question like this without image examples. Based on what you described, I would generally tend to agree with what you wrote. For more definitive answers, I would encourage you to refer to the Learn and Support page for generative AI guidelines. Here is what it says about this topic: Label your image as generative AI when the use of generative AI tools in Photoshop or Illustrator changed, augmented, or added a new primary subject of an image. Examples when to label your image as generative AI:-Generating new additions, such as a new person, animal, or object -Adding new subjects might compromise the accuracy of an image -Making significant adjustments or changes to a human subject in an image -Recoloring the primary subject of an image Examples when you wouldnt be obligated to label an image as generative AI:-Extending background for any reason -Removing IP or other forms of retouching -Removing distracting objects or people -Recoloring the background of an image

my blue bar (free all apps) has gone.I did not use it.
Yes, the blue bar was disabled earlier this week. The code is still valid. If you did not copy/save it, please contact support via the contact us link at the bottom of the portal and the team should be able to assist. I would do this sooner, rather than later. -Mat Hayward

One final point I would like to make regarding similars. In a hypothetical world where there is no moderation and everything you submit is automatically approved....If you submit 100 images of Autumn leaves, they will not all surface in search results. Only a small number of these files will be discoverable except by customers willing to dig very deep into the search results. Only 10,000 results are displayed at a time for any search query. As noted previously, there are millions of files online with the keyword "Autumn Leaves". The basic math indicates the vast majority will not surface in general searches. You are better off carefully curating your collection and choosing only the very best of each batch to submit.
Thanks for the debate,
Mat Hayward

I will not ever discuss portfolios of contributors that are not actively involved in a public discussion and are not asking for a critique. Personally, I feel that is a weak way to make an argument about your own portfolio and why your content should be online. I would rather lift others up and encourage, than the opposite. Regardless of the subject you are shooting and submitting, you should be seeking the WOW! factor for each and every image. It's a highly competitive space and you should be doing everything you can to create the best content possible.
What I will say, is that Fotolia was launched more than 15 years ago and there are many thousands of portfolios and millions of images that have been online all that time. The standards of moderation have changed since then, and they continue to evolve. I've said it many times in the past, it's not a perfect system. That said, in my personal opinion, the moderation team at Adobe Stock gets it right a heck of a lot more often than not. You'll find it very difficult to convince me otherwise.
Focus on what you can do to improve YOUR own portfolio with unique, sellable content that meets current trends. Autumn leaves sell well every year. That said, there are a LOT of images of Autumn leaves in the collection already. Focus on finding content gaps. Create what isn't there, but should be.
Good luck,
Mat Hayward

Yeah this doesn't apply to autumn leaves. Golden and Red maple leaves are too similar apparently. Rejected.
There are currently more than 6,000,000 results for the search term "Autumn leaves" in Adobe Stock. For images of common subjects such as this, we will accept them, but there needs to be a WOW! factor involved. If the images don't stand out from the millions of others, we may accept one or two, but not likely many in the series as they would be too "similar" to the files already in abundant supply. I wish you the best of luck with your future submissions, Mat Hayward

Actually, I do have another question regarding similars. Is it okay to submit both a horizontal and a vertical composition (as the main point of difference) of the same subject?
Generally yes, this is fine. Don't crop from one larger file to make two different compositions however. They should be unique images. -Mat

I know that AS has a very strict policy on similars. I seem to recall that a change of angle is usually not acceptable when submitting more than one photo of the same subject. Though what if I changed the distance? For example, with a small subject, I stood further back for the first photo and then moved 1 - 3 feet closer for a second photo. Would this be acceptable?
You need to make sure that each asset you submit offers unique value to a potential customer. If the changes you describe in your post could be just as easily accomplished by a customer with a simple crop, then it's likely too similar. If it's a genuine difference in the image that could prompt a customer to buy both variations, then you are fine. -Mat Hayward
